It was only after Snape followed her into the neglected shop, moving furtively between the shafts of sunlight that pierced the gloom, that it occurred to him to wonder why, ten years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Hermione Granger was running. And why, in a world with magic, real magic, she should be seeking the counsel of a Muggle Tarot reader.

Thanks, Braye! So glad you're reading. I'm polishing up Chapter 16 now, so you've got quite a big a head of you. I hope you continue to enjoy the story!
What a powerful chapter. And a universal truth that applies to the world in general: as soon as we fail to see other people as individuals and emphasise with them, we start thinking about "them" and "us" and confrontation ensues. This development is always at the beginning of such things as racism and genocide. Oh, to have such a mirror room for the world...
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Very true, very true. A mirror for the world would be a powerful thing, wouldn't it? Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. :)
Light? What a hopeful sign. I am enjoying your story very much!
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Precisely :) Thank you so much, and thanks for letting me know!
What an amazing chapter! Hard to find words to express my feelings. A brilliant idea to have each one see different versions of themselves in the other mirrors. Most of us are often too critical of ourselves, scrutinizing every minute flaw, selling ourselves short. And our friends and family usually see nothing wrong where we see imperfection and ugliness. When Severus acknowledged the source of its pain, apologized to the mirror and showed it affection, so to speak, it responded by healing itself? Yes? I'm assuming that something similar would have to happen for the humans to heal as well? Acknowledgement, forgiveness, love... Sounds logical to me.Pardon my ramblings and musings. I impatiently await your update.

Yes, exactly. Perception is so important in our experience of ourselves, and others. You're on the right track here... I'm enjoying your ramblings and musings, don't hesitate to share them if you don't mind! And thank you :) chapter 15 is nearly done, should be uploaded soon.
Wow, what will they find?
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Chapter 14 is up... go see! :D
I am really enjoying this story and the many layers it contains. It's not every day that I come across a story that I think about at odd times during my day. I will be looking forward to the next chapter ... and the next, and the next! What a well-written, captivating story!
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thank you so much. I can't tell you how happy it makes me that the story comes to mind at odd times during your day. The writing itself is a pleasure, but engaged readers are a joy in and of themselves. :D

Thank you, Kimjo :) I'm so happy that you're enjoying this. *hugs Chapter 14 is up!
I love this story ! it's keeping me on the edge of my seat.... please update soon. I was so glad to find you updating this story frequently as I remember I read the first 2 chapters earlier last year (2009!!) and wished you would continue to write. It's simply brilliant, and wonderfully written, with such depth of emotion and descriptives. I find myself chuckling everyso often too. I get lost in your words and imagine myself there, even I have shed a few tears too along side Severus' silent inward ones (the depth of emotion) and Hermione's too).... hopefully the Room will be healed too .... I await for your next chapter with glee.

Thank you so much,

. It makes me happy to know that you enjoyed the story even when it had so few chapters posted. I got derailed by life and other writing pressures (like the SSHG exchange), but things have gotten back on track. My hope is to finish this before I have to start writing for the NEXT SSHG exchange :) Stay tuned, I'm writing fairly rapidly at this point! Oh, and Chapter 14 just posted today :D
That was simply amazing! What a great idea, to ask the Room of Requirement!I'm so glad the others welcomed Severus with open arms, but then again, I always knew they would. ;)
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Squee! Thank you :) They've come a long way in ten years. Far further than the 7 afflicted... Thanks for reviewing! Chapter 14 is up!
Outstanding chapter! I loved these lines - “We will have an after, Severus, won’t we?” “If we succeed.” He brushed his lips against hers. “If we survive, hopes for after will be largely responsible, I’m sure.” She smiled and deepened the kiss. A hope, and promise. I felt that hope and promise were strongly felt throughout this chapter. I loved how the other professors took on the challenge, making those afflicted feel less alone. Finally, I've always wondered what the results of the fiendfyre had wrought of the RoR. I like the story you are developing for it. Great job, I eagerly await your next contribution.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Ah, yes. The hope is really seeping in at this point. Finally. I'm delighted you're enjoying this -- Chapter 14 just posted and Chapter 15 is nearly complete. :D
Review quizThe reason that I haven't reviewed this story much is:a)It has been a really hectic time of year- no time to reviewb)I have been really lazyc)This has been so good that I just couldn't stop to reviewd)All of the above If you picked d, you passed. If you want extra credit, get the next chapter up soon! I should give specifics of what I've liked so far, but I've just liked it all!
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
*laughs ... these are quite excellent reasons. I'm delighted that you're enjoying it so much. The next chapter is up! *grins Thank you for reviewing! It really does make my day :D
Wow, I can't wait to see what is in the room.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Yay! Take a look, Chapter 14 just posted :D
Yes, staying at Hogwarts is always a good idea.Interesting chapter. I wonder if Severus' or Hermione's patronus will change after all they must go through to find themselves again.I love how much they need each other and how they don't care who is watching. But it is scary to me to see how fragile their relationship is. Part of the Horcrux effect, but frightening, none the less. If they can hold it together through the healing process, they should last forever.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
They are very fragile, indeed. It's a mark of their desperation and need that they no longer are wary of who is watching. If you're interested in patronuses and how they might change, take a look at my Exchange story from last year, "Tree of Life." That dimension gets thoroughly explored in that story! Thanks so much for reviewing! Chapter 14 just posted and Chapter 15 is nearly done.
