I picked up the Harry Potter fandom around the time the first movie came out and began writing fanfic early 2005 after discovering the adult online community. I identify most closely with the Slytherins and you will see my taste in writing lends me to writing about Slytherins more often than not. In addition to fanfiction, I also make fanvids on the Harry Potter fandom. I'm a Perfect Imagination acredited beta and am willing to help authors. My main 'ship interests are Snape/OC (never really got into the SS/HG pairing) and LM/any female (with HG as a new favorite). I have dabbled in RL/OC and RL/NT and am okay with those pairings. I generally shy away from slash, just not my thing. For updates on my writing, check out my Live Journal
Reviews for The Letter
Even if Draco's interest in her is 'genuine', her heart belongs to the potions master. *bah*
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
LOL Of course if it does, does she realize it?
OHMYGOSH did Lucius put his own son under the imperious curse? I cant think why else Draco would throw himself on Hermione. I am looking forward to the next chapter
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Really? You don't think the Malfoys would see the advantage of being intimately connected with one of the war heroes? After all, they are a family that was once again cleared, but will be viewed with suspicion. I can most definitely see him reluctantly agreeing if these aren't his real feelings.
great chapterI hope Hermione manages to cure Severus soon, so that he can help her deal with the Malfoys. Imagine the confrontation: Potions Master versus Lucius and his son... I can't wait to see what happens when severus wakes up and what Harry and Ron will have to say about it
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Boy, she really could use the help, couldn't she? The reactions of all parties are going to be quite the sight when they realize Severus is alive.
How typically Slytherin of them to set up the dinner so that Draco could try mork his "magic' on her.I will feel very sorry for him though, if his feelings really are genuine.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Isn't it? As to the state of his feelings, Malfoys are so evasive how would we know?
Yeah! thanks for the chapter!Oh, those Malfoys are a pieces of work! Erg! Of course Draco made a move on her - daddy told him too! NO one is gonna beleive that he loved her - or felt anything for her! How absurd. it's almost funny.I'm gald that Harry and Ron are being supportive.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
LOL Yet another person who found the weird bit of humor in the whole dinner. And it is nice the Harry and Ron are supporting her, at least while they are still ignorant of the specifics.
Oh wow - I did not expect THAT! Draco? Very smooth - now I am even more invested in this story. I can't wait to see what happens next! Great job!
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Hehehe! I really am sorry but I can't stop chuckling at having shocked folks. I hope the rest is an engaging for you.
Ha! I wasn't expecting Draco to put the moves on her! Looking forward to the next chapter.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Hehehe! So glad to have shocked so many people with that. :D
I did not see that coming... I cannot believe that Lucius and Narcissa had her to diner so that Draco could put the moves on her. I wonder where Severus will fit into this when she develops the cure... Cannot wait for the next chapter.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Glad to have surprised folks. Though it would have been worse if Lucius had had her over for his benefit. Ick! But yes, a bit creepy.
Very good chapter. And look, we finally get to learn why Lucius was being so nice to Hermione. But, I wonder if Draco is sincere? Somehow, it just didn't feel like it, it almost seemed as though Draco was doing it because Lucius had demanded it of him. Or I could be way off. Anyway, I can't wait for more!
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Lucius always has a reason or two for something, doesn't he? As for Draco... it really did seemed contrived, didn't it?
Yes, I would have to believe Hermione has the right of it. How could the Malfoys misplay that so badly? Right, they think Gryffindors have no subtlety.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Yup, the classic Slytherin misjudgment of Gryffindors. Of course they want to ride the coattails of a war hero, they aren't stupid. LOL
It must be sooo tough to be a Malfoy, all that money, good looks and style, yet no right-minded person trusts them ..
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
But you know what, they bring it on themselves. Though for the right amount of money, I'm sure they can buy the trust of some people. :D
i did not see that coming! yick! compared with draco's bumbling attempts at romance, lucius' smarmy insincerity seems positively charming. more soon, please!
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
LOL I really hadn't planned on this scene being a humor moment in the story, and I still don't think it is, but I am getting a snicker out of everyone's reactions to this. Nothing like having your daddy try to force you into a relationship, is there?
Good chapter! Great job in bringing the reader around Hermione's way of thinking on Draco.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
Eeeeeew!
Okay, I sometimes don't mind a bit of dramione, but not this time and not this way.
Great chapter. Can't wait for the next!
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
LOL I'm sorry. Your vehemence against the pairing for this story just made me laugh. Glad to have elicited such a response from you. :D
I know I have said this before somewhere but "never trust a Malfoy, I don't care how hot they are". lol. They are only in it for themselves. Please tell me she doesn't stay with Ron. I beg you please. I truly love this story.Tamara aka
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Tamara, that is wonderful advice, but the Malfoy hotness and charm is just soooo hard to resist. LOL As for Ron... you'll just have to keep reading (though you've probably finished by now).
Oh, man. I just don't see Ron wanting his woman having a job. No, he would want her to stay home and look after the kids and house, like his mom. That isn't going to fly with Hermione. And what is with Ron anyway, being all bossy and stuff. The Git.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Yup, Ron would want a woman just like Mum, and Hermione will never be like Molly Weasley, she's just too ambitious, driven and loves being the academic thick of things. Nothing wrong with be a housewife, but it's not for everyone - definitely not Hermione.
yippeee no end of school exams!! oh that's right, I sat mine 20, 30, ... a long time ago
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
LOL I know that feeling, though US exams are not quite like UK ones. Though the old Hermione would have been disappointed (think back to her sad about missing exams after she recovered from the basilisk). Most everyone else would have ecstatic.
LOL if you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit! Just the tack to take with the boys.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
LOL I'm really enjoying your reviews. They are short, but so very to the point with such wonderful little quips. Really, the boys are so dense that it really would be so easy to dazzle them with bullshit.
Response from sunny33 (Reviewer)
well I disliked English at school a zillion years ago, reading something then pulling it pieces at length and analysing all the motivations....if you love something by an author, read more of it, if you don't, forget it, simple as that. Besides I was more a science and maths type LOL
Well, I suppose Snape taught her all she knows , so he jolly well ought to trust her brewing skills !
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
LOL Very well put. I think he most definitely saw something in her that he admired from an academic standpoint, but just couldn't say because it would be out of character for him to actually praise a Gryffindor. :D
The plot thickens.. Has Lucius had a letter too?
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
An, Lucius. He is a man that is just an enigma. I hope that further chapters will answer that question for you. :D
Good start, onward to next chapter..
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Thanks. I hope you enjoy the ride.
Excellent chapter. Do keep writing.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Thanks,
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
. Sorry it took so long to get the last couple of chapters up and even longer to reply to the reviews. RL, what can you do.
So much to like about this chapter. I like her trip to London, the Goblin paperwork, the shady dealings, and Lucius obviously keeping tabs on her. I like the boys so far, and that Hermione doesn't care about how she gets her NEWTs. Her reasoning is quite in-character for the backstory.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
Thank you so very much. I thought the Goblin bureaucracy would be a fun thing to pit her against. LOL And Lucius... what more to say about someone with such a checkered past. I did waffle on the NEWTs as under the right circumstances I can see her deciding to go back, but in this case, she had motivation not to. :)
Oooh, I cant wait till Hermione realises she has had enough of a demanding, not to mention slightly thick, Ron. I wonder where Severus got all that gold from though?Another lovely update!
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
You and everyone else wants to see her tell Ron 'enough'. LOL It will go down as one of the great mysteries of HP. I think that is probably the one question I would ask JKR if I had a chance.
You'll have to stay tuned for more information on Severus' gold. :D
'dichotomy in his personality" WTF?? surely she must realize that he had to be nasty to the precious Gryffs, esp. The Triad, cos he had to play double-triple agent, and wave the banner of Slytherin, the most reviled house in the entire school?! All this from the only one in the Trio to constantly defend him from verbal attack, and presumably the only one with the "wit" and "intelligence" to see beyond Harry's eleven-year-old bias? So much for Miss Brain Trust--she's coming off as thick as the Boyz. I wanna bitch-slap that Gryffindor self-righteousness off her. Frankly, I'm pissed off with her cos she's so lamely surprised to find that Snape is capable of normal, human feelings, DUH. I dunno. I guess I'm burning out on SS/HG. I'm coming round to thinking that Luna is the superior girl cos she's unpredictable and open-minded. (maybe I need to read some Snuna??)
This doesn't mean that I'm quitting your story. I know that there's nothing the Boyz can do about her being Snape's heir about the house and the lab and everything. Thank Merlin!
Response from phoenix (Author of The Letter)
No worries about the rant. :D I do know that if you read quite a few SS/HG stories in short order you can get kind of tired of seeing some of the same behaviors. I just know that as a student (back when I was that age) you can have a hard time seeing your teacher as a person, someone with a life and persona outside the classroom. I think that's where she is because he was gruff towards everyone who wasn't a precious Slytherin - though obviously more so to Potter and his close friends or even Neville who just was incompetent with Potions. Even the brightest teenagers can be short sighted about certain things. :)
I think that Luna/Snape could make for a wonderful comedic fic. I don't know that he could take her eccentricities. LOL But what a wonderful idea.
