Grape Forever!
Reviews for Second Life
Oh, I could just KILL Draco and Narcissa! They certainly threw Severus under the bus, didn't they? Another wonderful chapter with all the intensity and emotion that JKR was unable to achieve.I believe!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I am so glad that you believe. :)And yes, Draco and Narcissa.... grrr. I'm afraid my personal hatred of the Malfoys came through here....
Brilliant as usual, again I must give you my compliments for an absolutely fantastic story!!! I don't think I can tell you enough how much I love this story, and how wonderful and brilliant I find your work? Seeing the message about an update in my mailbox is like Christmas every time!!!

!! That means the world to me. *hugs you tight*
You've recreated (and expanded) the scene from HBP very well.Hermione MUST believe, just as we all had to believe, as well.Excellent work, as always.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
What a brilliant re-interpretation of this scene. Thank you for letting us see it through Snape's eyes.I am considering adding another cushion to my desk chair to prevent getting a ridge across my bum from sitting on the edge of my seat.Erm, they do escape, don't they? Please?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I secretly like everything better told from Snape's POV. He's such an interesting character to work with. More soon! xoxo Thanks for reviewing!
Wow. Another fantastic chapter. Bravissima! You had me on the edge of my seat (and still do, actually)!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!!
OMG! Better and more suspenseful than the "original". Fantastic job. Thansk.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much!
Oh you evil little Vixen! What a place to leave us! Well done as always though again you make my heart break for Severus because he had to leave her behind. Irish
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
That was a very hard decision to make. I think Snape is still caught up in the idea of usefulness...And yes, I have the evilness. :) Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! xoxo
Jesus! That was quick! I JUST looked at this chapter not even 12 hours ago!!!But I am soooo happy it's up!!!
Now, start writing 35.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)

Oh, my dear! How exciting! I have truly been dreading the "Bellatrix Incident" for some time, as it was so painful the first time around. Not that it wasn't this time, but to know that she had someone-- that someone-- ahhh, how much better it becomes. We can endure more if we have love at our side.
How he ever kept from killing that bitch, I will not know. It does seem as though HE should get the honor of killing her in the end and not Molly, but, I suppose, as long as she goes down...
Fantastic all around! I cannot wait for the next installment!
Author's Response:
My husband said the same thing--HE should get to kill Bellatrix! I wish I could see a way to make that happen. :)
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! More soon. xoxo
They were too late. And I was too :-) Stupid time difference.Oh well.

Response from RedOrchid (Reviewer)
Don't worry about it. There's always next chapter. :-)And this one is still miles better than the original.
Oh, good god, you are EXCELLENT at weaving your story through JKR's. Absolutely smashing chapter.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much!
Oh, poor Severus. And poor Hermione left with no one who knows the truth!Another great chapter in which you faultlessly weave canon into your story.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!
Lariope, m'dear, you amaze me. I honestly believe you are among the top three fanfic authors I have ever read, hands down. Never before have I read such moving, beautiful angst as was in this chapter. I just have no words, and I'm sure most other reviewers have said much better what I would say if I did have the words. I love this story so much. Thank you for sharing it with us all!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I don't know how to respond to this;
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
, you are too good to me; I don't deserve it. Thank you so much. So, so much.
Response from Delayed Poet (Reviewer)
You do deserve it, definitely! What I want to know is, why aren't you writing original novels? Seriously, you're writing style is very powerful, and I think you'd make an amazing novelist.
I didn't expect them to be reunited so soon. It' a very good surprise. I would also thank you very much because in addition to writing a fantatic story, you manage to respond every review you received, certainly adding a lot more work. So many thanks to you for being a so great and caring author.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Snitchette, how could I not respond? You guys are too good to me, and you deserve a thank you every single time. The energy you give me is more than I can say thank you for.And I'm so glad that their reunion was a good surprise. :)I am grateful, as always. xoxo
Another brilliant chapter, another glowing review. Snape was so very much in character here. He lashes out in anger because he is afraid -- afraid he will fail to protect Harry as he has sworn he will do; afraid that Hermione will be hurt; afraid that he won't be able to hide his feelings from Voldemort. So much fear, so much anger. And he is also haunted, I believe, by the knowledge of what he must do. It's a wonder he stays sane ...Still loving this.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm so glad you are still liking it! And I agree--for Snape, fear IS anger, and though he lashes out painfully here, I think she is learning to read him, that in the future, the blows won't be quite so hard to bear when they come. Thank you so much for reviewing!
Oh, my, my, that was so incredibly passionate -- in more than a sexual way. This story just gets better and better and better. You manage to wring every drop of emotion from the words you write.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm so glad that you read it that way. That just delights me. Thank you so much for reviewing--you have no idea how much I appreciate it.
Another wonderful chapter, as usual. This little bit jumped out at me: Snape allowed himself to be led over to a knot of wizards who stood about with easy grace, sipping Firewhisky from Lucius Malfoy’s etched crystal tumblers. One would never imagine, looking at them, that they were members of a dark and sinister society, ruled by fear. It was hard to picture any one of them, so well dressed and mannered, writhing under the Cruciatus or naked and begging, trying to escape that foul whip.
I've often wondered why Voldemort's followers stay with him. He is as cruel to them as he is to his enemies! Is it just fear that keeps them from turning on him?
One can almost feel sorry for them ...And poor 'Sevy' is going to have some explaining to do to his wife, isn't he?Love this!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
You know, honestly, as the Death Eaters exist in canon, I'm not sure why they go to him or why they stay with him. A regime based only on fear is sure to come undone. I like Mia's explanations in CoMC, but I couldn't have pulled that off here. But yes, I do almost pity them. Thank you for reviewing!

What a great chapter! *sights contentedly* I don't know what I shall write, as I seem to be saying the same things over and over again - but again I really love this chapter and find it really, really well done. Great work, my dear, I simply love reading it.
Author's Response: *Is gleeful*
I'm so glad that you are still enjoying SL. Thank you so much for such a lovely review. xoxo
Your story never ceases to amaze me. The power in each of your chapters seems to not keep me sitting at the computer, reading a fan fiction, but it keeps me alert and aware of how unfair and broken life can be.Your writing truly astonishes me. I know what I say to you are only words but there is nothing else I can say. It's upsetting, overwhelming for Hermione to know that Snape was destined to die for another woman, and yet all she can see when she's with him, is his presence.I think you could have almost out written J.K. herself. :)You show so many things that were left out, and a deeper purpose. We get to see things through Snape's eyes, who was a man that suffered more than he ever needed to. A man who was brave and dedicated. He's probably one of the deepest and most intricate, yet amazing characters I've ever read about, and you write him out perfectly. You give writing fan fiction a whole new purpose, I swear. I have never read anything like this in my entire fic reading days. You are amazing.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
No, you are amazing. Thank you so much. This review made me cry. I wish I could respond with something better, but all I can say is that you touched my heart. Thank you so much.
the meaning of life and the sense of dying. dying for a greater good or as a penitant. or simply being abused. You show a very soulful Snape. I like him. It enables to feel for him.and then there's Hermione back, right in the moment he desperately needs her. Clever hous-elf.salva
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Yes, I have a great deal of love for Dobby in this chapter. :) I'm very glad that you are able to connect to Snape's inner life and his struggles here. Thank you so much.
Damn this is a powerful chapter! I noticed that my notes turned into a list of all the betrayals Albus has managed. To sacrifice Severus, to sacrifice Potter, to manipulate Hermione’s feelings so that she murders Voldy etc…I think your portrayal of Snape almost going catatonic rang true. The beliefs he based that last 17 years of his life have been wrong, he was lied to by the one person he trusted. That is bound to cause upheaval. I think this is your most perfect sentence “he thought he wouldn’t be clean or right until Dumbledore said he had suffered enough” It really shows me how completely AD has controlled (I need a stronger word than control) Severus. I am looking forward to the next chapter where Severus and Hermione plot. PS: Lookie Subversa is all caught up! You have high profile readers!!! Go Lari!!
PS2: So when are Hermione and Snape going to hook up??
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
You are cracking me up!I'm glad you liked the chapter and that Snape's reaction seemed logical to you. I do think that poor Snape's world has just been completely turned on end. And yes, I'm having a little squee over Subversa myself. ;)Thank you so much for reviewing. *hugs you*
Okay, I'm here; I'm all caught up. I'll ride the rest of roller coaster with all of your other readers. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you for reading! I'm glad you're caught up and that you're still on board! More soon. :)
“He thought it was us. That we were in love.”Now, that is a brilliant reinterpretation of crappy canon if I ever saw it!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! :)
“Do you remember when I told you not to repeat our plans back to me? That things said aloud are harder to hide?”*cries*Oh, Lariope! A more beautiful declaration of love I have never read. This story is such an accomplishment - I hope you are very, very proud.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Yeep! You noticed my favorite line!*finds self near tears as well*I'm very touched by your review; thank you.
I've been hovering, waiting for this chapter! I knew you'd make me understand the whole elder wand thing! Good job!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you, Mia!
