I have to apologize to everyone, period. Real life swallowed me whole, as I have been struggling to make a living writing original fiction over the last 8 years. It has not been easy, & has been complicated by health issues. I hope people can forgive my long silences. Trying to make enough money to live on from writing is a lot harder--waaaay harder--than it looks. (At least I didn't leave any posted fanfics unfinished.)
Anyhoo...
These stories are works of parody (& thus are allowable under US law), and are not written for profit. Just for fun. I'm not making any money off of any fanfics, nor will I ever. I'm just playing around in other writers' universes.
...I am, however, making something of a living off my own stories. (If anyone wants to play around in my universes, you may visit my website, www.jeanjohnson.net, and look up my policy on Fanfics & Fanarts. It's reasonable enough and fairly easy to follow, too...)

He could very well be accused of ‘slipping her something’, given his history as a Potions Professor. Not that he could; he didn’t have current access to a cauldron, let alone powdered mandrake root, oyster liqueur, the tears of a veela… Made me laugh, how he went from thinking he'd be unjustly accused of drugging her to reciting the ingredients needed to do the drugging.
This line got a smirk as well: Hermione didn’t quite believe her ears, for a moment. Severus Snape, saying the ‘R’ word?
Love how they went from almost 'going all the way' to suddenly discussing the specific an very detailed aspects of how to prepare/package a line of products for their joint-business, that they are making up as they go along, and haven't actually agreed to do yet... That so wouldn't have happened with anybody else!
Couple more lines I liked: “You make it sound like a pet ownership time-share scam.” and this one was sweet: “I want to see if I can have a relationship with the most intelligent, exciting man I know. That man happens to be you,” Hermione stated as bravely as she could. “Do you have a problem with that?”
The 'challenge' was great. But I felt so sorry for Hermione after the phone call. At least Severus is getting better with showing his emotions and handling physical contact, so he could offer her some comfort (a lot better than the way he would've been if they were still at Hogwarts prior to the war's ending, he'd have probably taken points off for the audacity of crying on him back then). I'm guessing that they'll be living/working out of her Aunt's house from now on. It does sound like a nice set-up (and it's in the country away from most of both the wizarding and muggle populations, so it'd be a good place for them to set up a lab too), but still it's such a sad way to get it. Poor Mione.
You do realize that, although they had that intellectual discussion about their plans for the future and all that, Hermione basically did the same thing to Severus that Ron did to her: porposing before actually asking on a first date!
Really enjoying this!

Yup...she did propose to 'get serious' (not married, but engaged; there's a difference) before an official first date--but he brought up the subject of long-term first, nyah!~Lmaoaka Lotm
Only just discovered this story - I love it! original, funny... Hope here are may more chapters to come! (put this in because you make S use a human toilet...(;-)))
Enjoying this immensely! But then your work is always a treat to read.
Oh my gosh - I have always loved your stories but this one is fantastic - it is so erotic - can wait for more
I just finished reading this chapter and my daughter walks out of her room with a bottle of Elmer's glue....I lost it! (True story).I am in admiration of their restraint however unrealistic....Severus...naked...shower...soap...water...skin...priceless! I myself would be jumping in offering to be a personal washcloth.XOXO!
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
Not responsible for acts of daughters, washcloths, or glue.(Though I fully understand your yearning!)~Lotm
I really do not like cats in real life. I can tolerate them at a distance, but I just do not find them cuddly or lovable. Sorry to all the cat lovers out there. That being said, I find your depiction of this particular cat to be cuddly and lovable. ;-) I think a cat is a great choice for Snape because cats are an in character animal for him--they can be just as snarky as he is. Plus it gives a great reason for him to become something more lovable. I'm really enjoying this story concept very much!
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
Now there is a true compliment--a cat disliker (or tolerator-from-a-distance) loving this story! *huggles, scritchies, lots of pettings*Thank you!~Lotm
I love Hermione's 'righteous' anger “—You interrupted a really good book!” and Minerva's 'naughty' side, what with the Harlequin novels, her talk of “indulging in your feline side” and “there’s nothing more pleasant than being petted and properly scratched, as a cat”, and her 'bending the rules like a Slytherin'.
Glad that both Severus and Hermione are having, shall we say, the same train of thought about eachother, and apparently started to think 'that way' at about the same time. I liked her defense of him (in both his forms) to the boys.
Liked Hermione and Severus' idea to speed up that process of becoming animagi too, though with Hermione also being a cat, I hope they don't try to stay transfomed at the same time for a while - at least not until after her heat wears off.

You'll see...~Lotm
Well, alright. This is just brilliant. Your plot is engaging, your characterizations are stellar, and your wit keeps me on my toes. Thank you so much for writing this beautiful creation. I can't wait to see how it continues.
This story will be, I think, one of the ones I print out and keep. So far, it's only number two of that collection. Thank you, again.

So what will be the other one? *iz curious*~Lotm

I have no idea how that happened, the formatting snaffu up above. Here's what I just said:So what will be the other one? *iz curious*~Lotm
I loved this chapter! I loved the variety of emotions, how well you portrayed them, and how well the narrative flowed into each one. And then the emotional punch at the end with poor Aunt Eumenia... Very well written chapter!
Wooo Hooo LOTM,As always you have captured my heart and imagination with another one of your amazing stories. It doesn't matter what you write Potter fan fiction or your own fabulous original stories you are simply one of the best. I love this new Severus and Hermione story. Snape as a cat and Hermione saving him is a wonderful new twist. I really like all the sensual banter and hedonistic touching, even if most of it is when one of them is in cat form. Watching Severus learn how to feel and accept a loving touch is beautiful to behold. I adore the way you've written Hermione with an old soul and independent streak! I can't wait for chapter 7.
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
Yeah, Hermione's character doesn't develop very much in this tale...which was a struggle for me, strangely enough. Severus grows and changes, but Hermione insisted she'd done all her growth and change off-screen, back during the war. So she ended up in the role of emotional mentor/nurturer, and the growth was on her accepting and encouraging Severus, and the strength she was willing to lend, once she got over her misgivings.Don't worry, plenty more of banter, sensuality, and touching up ahead!~Lotm
A couple of my favorite bits:
The worst of it was, he was cute as a cat. Sleek and handsome. Affectionate, and even cuddly ... the concept of Severus Snape, Bastard Extraordinaire, being cuddly churned her stomach.
A scary name, scrawled his handwriting on the page.
And I loved the part where she started scratching him while he's on the diary! And the conversation that followed it.
Seems like he's growing on her by the end.
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
And she's growing on him, too!~Lotm
I just found this delightful story and I just had to let you know that I am completely enchanted by it. Truly a lovely story and I cannot wait for more.
I can't express how happy I am to read another story by my favourite author, both fanfic and original work:-) As a single woman with more than one cat, this story is so brilliant, you won't belive it:-) I love the interaction between them, I could have showered you with galleons for Hermiones handling of the love-potion incident with regards to Ron, and when she took Harry to task and invoked the lifedebt, it was priceless!!!Update again soon, I want and need to read more:-))

My best friend since junior high is a single woman (well, okay, she has a boyfriend right now) with 6 cats. (whenever I house-sit for her, I like to call it my 6 Cat Tranquility Therapy Sessions...) Anyway...she calls herself a "Crazy Old Cat Lady".I told her that as she was only a year older than me, and I still have 14 more years to go before I hit mid-life (according to how long I plan to live), she is NOT old. But that I'll concede the "crazy" and "cat" and "lady" parts, each individually for their own delightful merits.I made her laugh. *sighs happily**hugs ya* I'm glad I could make you laugh, too!~Lotm
A tad stressful for them, but things are certainly falling into place! They'll be fine now if they can just pay off the exorbitant taxes and avoid kitty relations resulting in a litter. (If Minerva thinks the Ministry are highway robbers with a 25% increase in over 50 years she ought to see what the muggle government is pulling out of Severus' and Hermione's windfalls!) Now what is that clever Slytherin up to with that Galleon?
looking forward to the next chapters!keep up the good work!
Goodness! Things were going along so nicely what with talk of toe curling and longish engagements. Poor Aunt Eumenia. Poor Hermione. Thank goodness Severus is there to comfort her.
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
Ayup. Then again, Aunt Eumenia lived a very full life with few regrets, and is now pinching the bums of the cuter male angels in Heaven and making all the seraphim blush. And giggle. A lot.~Lotm
Loving it so far!
The Crooks/Puss interaction is great, and I loved how he 'defended her honor' against 'Idiot-Boy' and Hermione's retribution against Ron.
Putting in the Scrabble game was clever. I was thinking he would need to scratch out letters in the dirt somewhere.
At least this time around, he was kissing his own arse. What a great line! Interesting start...off to read the next chapter.
Dear LOTM,
This is terrific - I am so looking forward to more (which I propose to read *without* my large and extremely non-magical feline trying to sit on the keyboard of my laptop).
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
I wish you good luck in that endeavor. You'll need it.*hug*~Lotm
Yay! Minerva recognized Severus! Leave it to Minerva to have already taken care of all the legal issues. I think one of the things in DH that hurt the most was the scene between Severus and Minerva in the hallway. I always supposed their banter and quidditch bets and House Cup rivalries evolved from a deep, respectful friendship. Minerva's stern, brusk manner would allow her to show it in ways that didn't interfere with the bat of the dungeon's reputation. In my opinion Dumbledore was a crappy general to have left his spy out there with no one to report to. But enough DH silliness, back to HedonistCat!Snape and PrettyKitty!Hermione and the total ignoring of all things DH.
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
Absolutely. I haven't read DH yet, ergo it doesn't exist, and all comments about what happens in it are merely speculation and rumor (because they're "unproven"), and are thus ignorable.Because Severus Snape Lives, Dammit! (And gets a Happy Ending!!)~Lotm
I read Deathly Hallows the day it came out -- stayed up all night doing it, too. And then I was so frustrated and put out that I had to go and read your stories to make me feel better about it all. Absolute truth -- "An Army of Snapes" served as my immediate post-DH consolation! I'm so glad to have stumbled across this continuation of your writing; you're very talented. I enjoy the humour and tenderness of your tales, and the imaginative, colourful plots. Thank you so much for years of enjoyment.
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
You're quite welcome...and to be truthfull, I still haven't read DH myself. (I like IA too much to give it up, I think. At least, in my parody of the books, Snape lives and gets a happy ending. *sniffy look*)*snerk*~Lotm
What the? What in the world is that sneaky Slytherin up to?
holy crap you killed her off. rather convenient i must say, but how sad. oh well. but something i love about the characters in this story is the way it's written it seems so much more real and three dimensional than a lot of writing. it seems like the conversations they have are actually taking place, and it makes it easy to picture. bravo.
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
That's because they are actually taking place...albeit in some other universe, one that's a wild-grown offshoot from the HP universe that Rowling wrote all those books about.I'm convinced, you see, that the really good writers actually tap into alternate dimensions. We're extra-universal voyeurs. Fishermen of possibilities. We bait our hooks with character sketches, setting descriptions, plot ideas, and cast them out into the multiverse...and when we 'snag a live one'...we've hooked our line of imagination into a universe where those parameters do actually exist. This is why characters sometimes "do things" that their writers didn't expect, let alone plan, for them to do. Because we're interdimensional voyeurs, reporting what we "see" happening in other realms.Or at least, that's the way it seems to be happening to me. I write what I see and hear happening in my mind. It's not real, in the sense that it definitely is not happening in this universe...but that doesn't preclude the distinct possibility it really is happening out there in some other universe. (After all, just because we haven't firmly proved or disproved the existences of other universes yet doesn't mean they don't actually exist.)Anyway...I'm glad you're enjoying my multidimensional tabloid reporting! *snerk*~Lotm
Aww, how cute!I love their witty banter.Amazing!
It's been a pleasure reading a story as deftly written and as vivid as yours -- and it's so blissfully free of errors! Congratulations for making Schmoopy Severus tolerable -- often I can't stomach stories where he turns out to have been a big ol' softie underneath those robes, but you've ingeniously made these personality traits part of his feline nature, so it's quite a bit more believable to me. Awaiting updates!
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of Spinster)
Oh, trust me, this is riddled with errors. I don't polish up my fanfics nearly as much as I do my original fics. (Then again, I don't get--and won't ever get--paid for fanfics, so naturally I put most of my effort into what I do get paid to do. And then squee a lot in an undignified mannr whenever I think about the fact that I get paid to write original stuff. SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!!) (*ahem*)Glad you like it! I didn't want him to go unbelievably OOC, so here's to keeping our Snapey refreshingly Snarky!~Lotm
