Congradulations on your graduation, and yor job! Excellent chapther, well worth the wait!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so, so much for the encouragement and support! I'm working on chapter 15 now, so it should be up in a week or so!
Great Chapter! I really look forward to see what will happen next.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so much! Next chapter is being written, so stay tuned!
So glad to see your update! The not-so-benign connection between them is very strange ... can't wait to see where you go with that.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so much for your continued encouragement and support, it really means a lot to me! Chapter 15 is being written, so it should be posted in about a week or so.
OH dear, and you left us in the middle of a confrontation!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Hehehe. It picks up right where it left off in chapter 15, which is being written now. It should be up in a week or so!
My dear another brilliant chapter! Please keep them coming. Irish

Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement, Irish!
Well done little king. I like what you have done by giving them some tenderness. I think that Hermione needed a chance to comfort Severus, a bit, to if nothing else atone for her violent reaction in her own mind. I wonder why her touch would comfort him?
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you!! Couldn't have happened without your generous help! It does seem odd that her touch would comfort him when he abhors phsyical contact so much, even from people like Minerva and Poppy. :) It's a mystery, bwa ha ha!
It has been too long! This is such a rich, complicated tale that I almost want to wait for several chapters to pile up before returning to it--but it's so expertly done that I'm finding it impossible to wait! Damn you!
Does Legilimency, even done unintentionally, serve as any kind of therapeutic tool? Knowing that someone else knows what you have experienced--that they have been able to actually experience it, too, even in truncated form--can it help in the healing process? Especially when she seems to have been able to understand what she has learned?
I love that Hermione is so angered by his continued neglect, even while he is under the care of otherwise compassionate people. That prowling kitty may think she is learning a thing or two by observing the patients at night, but Minerva still doesn't seem to realize what she does not know about that dark and disturbed man, even after a lifetime's acquaintance.
He's just lucky there is someone who considers him worth researching, because I'm pretty sure Hermione isn't reading the DSM-IV just to help herself through her own trauma.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Oh my, this is a wonderful review! Thank you so much!
Okay, to respond to the first paragraph - LOL, that is the highest compliment I think I've ever received for my writing, thank you! I know the feeling very well, so I sympathize with you. When Subversa is working on a WIP, I'm at the edge of my seat for weeks and checking my email religiously for an update! I'm sorry that this one took so long! School has/is get(ting) in the way. Plus I have another WIP, and a bunch of illustration stuff going down. So, next week is my Spring Break, so after I work on all my portfolio pieces, you better believe I'll be writing and trying to get a new chapter posted for Conversations! Whew, that was a long answer...
Paragrah 2 — In this story, I am definitely using Legilimency as a therapeutic tool. I think that Hermione will be able to empathasize so much better now that she has sort of experienced it as well, only on a level that has ensured her physical safety. She is able to cope with it much better than he, for so many reasons (i.e., her emotional maturity vs. that of a young child, her distance from the people involved - she never knew Eileen and Tobias Snape, and certainly never had to rely on them for comfort and care - her knowledge that she is not in physical danger from the memories, etc.), and that she can use this knowledge to help him heal in a way that no one else would be able to.
3 – I think it's only natural for Hermione to be enraged by his neglect, and I've always interpreted her in canon as always being somewhat sympathic to Snape and angered at the disrespect continually shown to him. And Minerva will get a heads up, trust me. Also, I need to emphasize in the next chapters that Minerva wasn't being too prowling, she was actually comforting him in her own way, by being in cat form and sleeping in his bed with him, watching over him. When Hermione came in, she hid, and she watched the exchange, and, I think, was very touched by it. It will be revealed that Minerva does care greatly for the Slytherin, and shows it in sublime ways, so not to anger him.
4 – Yep! DSM-IV's all for him. Yay for psychological texts! (I've had my DSM-IV taken from me when I was 17 by my aunt – okay, so it was hers, and she just took it back, but I missed it :( So my husband bought one for me for Christmas one year. LOL, yeah, I'm lame, I get excited over a $75 medical text.)
Thank you so much for the update, I was so happy to see another chapter to this great story. I am feeling a bit bad about calling a fic with so much darkness great, but it is a great story. It is so well written, the plot so captivating and intriguing, I just want to jump into it and hurt all of those who hurt Severus. While I probably will rant a bit if Severus get to unfair towards Hermione, I must admit to looking forward to doing just so because that will mean that Severus is back...:-)) Update again soon!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Aaaw!! *hugs* Thank you for the review! I certainly didn't intend for this story to get so dark, but I promise there is a happy ending at the end of the road!
And though I feel bad when S gets a little mean to H, it's just so fun writing his snark and her indignation. I will try to write the next chapter next week, during my Spring Break, if I can! Thank you again!
Intense chapter, I think what made it so was the fact that Severus is not available for comment yet.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you! I meant for him to be awake, but it seemed it would not come to pass in this chapter. I think it worked out okay, though, because it allowed a little breather and a tender, slightly romantic moment! But, *finally* he'll be awake the next chapter. Thanks again!
I was sure what had happened was of great proportion, but not that great: two weeks unconscious? And Snape still not awake nearly four weeks afterwards? I wonder if Hermione's intrusion won't help him face his own demons in the long run, after he's exhausted his anger.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so much for the review! I can understand what you mean, it can seem a little too much for them to be out that long. However, Snape has always been a deeply disturbed man, very concerned with control. When that control is taken from him, and he is forced to relive a fraction of his most devastating memories, well... Muggles don't have the threat of this, obviously, but they have shattered under lesser stress. This sort of comatose response is actually a coping mechanism for the mind, a survival tactic employed by many children, and it can last for years. For him, with the Leglimency not under his control, it felt as though he was literally living those memories, and that takes a very, very large toll on the psyche.
Hermione, also, reacted in this comatose response, though hers was naturally shorter. She was able to compartmentalize her emotions somewhat, and her mind was able to retain the knowledge that she was not actually living these scenes, but watching them. It still shook her quite a bit for many reasons, and she retreated briefly into her own mind for comfort. I hope that makes sense?
Her ability to experience, to some degree, these memories with him has actually given her a powerful therapeutic tool — empathy. She now has a glimpse into how terrible his childhood was, and she is able to grasp more of an understanding of him as the person she knows now. She will definitely use this knowledge to help him heal.
Thank you so, so much for the review!
This is dynamite so far! I am very happy to hear that you are basing this reading of Snape (dark, disturbing, and utterly believable, unfortunately) on accurate psychological models. Your reading of him is quite interesting, and I do hope that you are headed toward actual, psychologically realistic help for him (from Hermione, of course!), because, as traumatic as the backstory you have created is, it is possible to come through it and to learn trust, forgiveness (especially of oneself, blameless though one is in such circumstances), and how to heal.
I am looking forward to much more of this - great work!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Oh, thank you so much!! That is exactly where I'm heading, yes. Unfortunately, it takes very, very long to accurately show the healing process beginning to take root, just as it does in real life. I am so happy to hear from you and all readers who understand the psychological minefield that his character presents in this story! Reviews like yours inspire and encourage me, and I can't thank you enough!! *hugs*
PS - sorry it took so long to respond, I have a *lot* of homework to do, so there's a good chance the next update won't be for a few weeks. I'm sorry :(

LOL! Poor Severus! Great chapter.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so much for the read and review! I really appreciate it! You have to admit, though, Sev did deserve at least a little of his bad luck ;)
Response from tialangela (Reviewer)
Oh, I do admit he should have seen it coming... but I still pity the poor snarky Sev! How can Hermione have lots of wild sex with him later on in the story if she incapacitates the guy so soon? hehehe.

Snape is jewish?British men aren't circumcised unless they are jewish or muslim.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so much for pointing this out! Where I'm from (the States), over half the men are circumcised – and most are circumcised without any religious reasons. Now that you pointed this out, I can see how it'd be confusing. My beta helped me out a bit (she's also from the UK), and it's been decided that we'll just, if you'll excuse the pun, cut that bit out. It will be understood that he's uncircumcised. Thank you again for pointing that out!

I am really enjoying this fanfic! Your descriptions of the characters and events are so detailed that the story comes to life. Very well written! Can't wait to read more!

I hope the Draught of Peace works. Maybe then Severus will refrain from throttling Hermione, though she was only trying to help. ;)I cannot remember, but how much of a relationship have you described between Hermione and Ron? Obviously she has seen his penis before, so they must have had some sort of relations.I look forward to seeing how Hermione reacts to Severus, now that she sees him as a man. *sigh* I cannot wait until the next chapter!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
I haven't really gone into the relationship between RW/HG, simply because I don't feel it's central really to the plot. (Trust me, I've tried to write it in several times, and it ends up getting cut!) Ron is with Lavender now, after Hermione and he amicably split. Hermione is not a virgin, so Ron was her first :) And only, I think.
Thank you for the read and review!! I really appreciate it!

I can't wait to read the dinner conversation. I guess they will talk about whatever come up LOL!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so much for the read and review!! The next chapter is giving me a bit of trouble right now, so I'm not so sure a dinner conversation will make an appearance :( But have no fear, I'll make sure it's worth while before posting it!
Response from sinbad (Reviewer)
Cheer up I'm sure you will do fine :)

I'm feeling rather bad for Severus here for a change! I wouldn't be surprised if he was feeling rather humiliated (never mind in pain).
I wonder what will happen next!

Wow, faulty deflating draught or is Hermione just that appealing? I suppose any deflating draught cannot overcome physical manipulation, but you would think that once Snape woke up and realized the situation he was in that he would begin to lose the erection. Very interesting.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Yes, you would think that would be the case! But there's more to that situation that I can't reveal just yet.
Thank you for the read and review!!

I could never be a nurse. Because if that was me I would be all over that man. He would have plenty of cream on him. And not worrying able pain either. lol Too bad Tonks and Remus had to show up.

Thank you so much for the update. I am not sure who I feel most sorry for at the moment; Severus for waking up with his trousers on his knees, an erection most likely due to the apprentice who has undressed and applied cream on a very sensitive area, or Hermione for Severus to wake up to said situation....:-)) He handled it very well so far though:-))))Update again soon!!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
They both handled it well, all things considered, lol. Thank you so much for the read and review!!! Another chapter will be posted soon... well, as soon as it starts cooperating with me, that is. Stay tuned!

heh! she wouldn't be a very good Healer, if she gets so easily distracted. glad she locked the door! will you tell us about those scars of his? thanks for updating.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Lol, don't think I'd be that great of a Healer in that situation either, lol!!! I will definitely get into the scars later in the story, thanks for asking about them! And thank you for the read and review!

LOL I wonder what changes Hermione's interest in her employer will induce in their relationship.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
What a good question! Unfortunately for her, as soon as she feels one way for Severus, the dynamic changes drastically, forcing her to feel the opposite. He really loves to make things difficult! Thank you for the read and review!
