Eeek! Oh, poor Severus...and what is Pansy's purpose? What on EARTH is going on? Dying for an update!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
LOL, I hope to get one up and going soon, but I have a work deadline for Feb 1st, so I can't promise there will be an update until after that date. I'm so sorry!
Oh lord, poor, poor, Severus! *Wants to cry*What happens next???
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Aww, there, there. I promise, by the end of the story, things will turn out just right :) Thank you for all the thoughtful reviews!
I love your story! As long as you plan to keep going with the story - I can wait for the chapters! Although, I would like them faster (who doesn't?); I am always excited just to see one and it makes my day! So lots of kudos to you for a great story and it takes time to write good, so get work done at work first (we do need to keep our jobs in this economy) and then write when you get a chance!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Oh, thank you so very much! I'm so glad that you enjoy it. And work, well... heh. I'm a children's book illustrator, so I have a deadline by the first of Feburary, so I can't promise that there will be any updates until after Feb, maybe into March. But as this story is usually what I love to do when I have an artist's block, it may be sooner. Thank you so much for the encouraging review!
Quid pro quo.... *Shudder*Damn, this Severus scares me.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Oooh, does he really? That's just what I was going for! Squee!
Oh my, taking tea where she was tortured....that shall NOT be fun...
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
And it most certainly wasn't fun. Well, maybe a little...
Oh, dear lord, Pansy???? PANSY????By the way, FYI, in canon Draco married Astoria Greengrass, little sister of Daphne Greengrass. I believe she is supposed to have been Ginny's age. Enthralling chapter, now my review must end so I can read the next one!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Did he really? After certain chapters in DH, I decided to break with canon and attempt to erase it from my memory!
Oh no! Has he- he- attempted suicide? Oh, oh dear...to the next chapter!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Not quite, so don't fear! It'll be explained more in the upcoming chapters (...eventually, lol).
At least Albus feels sorry for what he did...not that it helps. Now, what happens next? Onward to the nesxt chapter!

This has always been a compelling story, but now you ve managed to fit in the mystery around Pansy as well. As ever, very nicely done.I can see there will be much made of the shoebox contents in upcoming chapters, and I am looking forward to reading them.Such a deliciously dark tale.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Oh, thank you so much! I really, really appreciate your encouraging review, and I'm sorry it took so long to respond. As far as the shoebox goes, gods only know what it contains. It kinda suits me quite well, anything I need as historical background for Snape, I create from the box's contents. Quite fun!
Intriguing chapter giving us various insights into each character. Hmmm! Excellently written, as always, this is my favourite Dark Fic WIP and I squee everytime I see an update.Thank you.Safe and happy holiday to you and yours.Love Sonia :)
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Ah, thank you so much for the encouraging review! Sorry this took so long, the exchange fic, as you know, drove me insane since August, there was so much I wanted to write in it!
Now you have me wondering what in earth Pansy is up to.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
LOL, all in good time! Thank you so much for the review!
Another intensely powerful chapter. I do have to wonder if this Severus can ever really be healed at all - not completely, I'd imagine, but even to an extent. I hope that all is still not lost - that the existence of people who do care will matter.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
I promise, not all is lost! I do believe that this chapter was one of the lowest points in this story, if not the lowest. Please do not lose hope! Thank you so much for the review, I apologize for the delay in responding to it!

Wow! I have only just stumbled onto this fic and while I like light and fluffyfics I find stories like these resonate deeper.Like others I like the alluding to the colour grey - for the reasons that you described but also it is the colour of neglect and of indifference - exemplified by his underpants exposed by Potter Snr.While I can understand your reluctance to paint Dumbledore so darkly, consider the distance that he put between Harry and himself when he felt the need arise ie. he thought Voldemort was acessing Harry's mind. Surely he could have just offered comfort without risk. No, I do believe that while he spouted the rhetoric of love he was just as manipulative and cruel as Voldemort.I look forward to reading more.Cheers.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so much for the review! I apologize deeply for the delay in response.I do understand and agree with what you stated about Dumbledore. I guess there is just a part of me, like Snape, that really wants Dumbledore to be good, because of that father-like figure he played early in canon. But, alas, I don't think Albus will be much redeemed in the story.Good point about the gray and underpants/neglect and indifference. I am very grateful that you have stumbled upon this story. I'm posting the next chapter in the que now, so please stay tuned!

HOLY FREAKING CRAP! WHY HAVE I NOT REVIEWED THIS CHAPTER YET? Poor, poor Severus! I can't help but feel compassion for him, even in this moment when he's being rather scary. [BLEEP]ING DUMBLEDORE! What kind of person would do such a thing? No wonder Snape is messed up. Has he ever had someone truly care about him? Purely and unselfishly? It's no wonder that he acts the way he does; if he's never known true affection before, if all of his human interactions have been tainted with shame or revulsion or ridicule...is it any wonder that he "has no inkling" of tenderness?
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so, so much for the review! I do agree, it's a thin line between feeling compassion for this particular Severus and being terrified of him. I didn't intend to paint Dumbledore in such a negative light, yet... it kinda slipped out, heh. I'm not sure that he has never had someone truly care for him, however. I think he would have been much, much more messed up had there not been some people that reached out to him both in the "present" and his past. Minerva comes immediately to mind. But, yes, it is a very complex, emotional field of landmines when it comes to Severus' pysche. The next chapter is currently being beta'd, so I hope I haven't scared you away just yet!Thank you again!

I forgot about Minerva! :) And I'm not scared away! I'm on the edge of my seat!

Although I read the warnings, I still felt nauseated. Which is a good sign, for me, at least: it was so intense, so painful to read, but also so engaging... Masterfully done.

Thank you so much for this review! I do apologize that it took me so long to respond - I am in the middle of illustrating a children's book so all SS/HG things had to be put on the backburner for a bit. I'm both sorry and somewhat honored that this story has created such strong emotions, thank you very much. The next chapter is being beta'd now, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the update! Thank you again!

WOW! I was absolutely blown away at the complexity of the characters in this story. I foresee this becoming one of the GREAT SS/HG stories, up there with some of the best this fandom has to offer. I cannot tell you enough how much I have truly enjoyed this story so far. It is so refreshing, beautifully written, astounding, and all of those other adjectives that I cannot bear to mention as my heart is still racing with in my chest. It gets more then 5 stars from me, and I shall be recommending it to everyone. LOVING IT!

Thank you so, so incredibly much for the amazingly encouraging review! I can't say it enough, thank you, thank you! I am working on the next chapter now, so it should be up in the next few weeks. Thank you again! *hugs*

How many times can you say "I'm sorry", while repeating the behavior that prompts it, and still be believed? I really dislike your Hermione (that's a compliment that you've made her real enough to feel anything for)! It's all about her - she feels bad about the information she wormed from Remus, and everything she's learned from her overweening curiosity since then, so it's Hermione to Snape's rescue. Yes, he has issues. He's earned them. Thanks for a great story!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so much for the review! I really hope to show Hermione maturing in the next few chapters... It's a difficult subject, I think, for someone who has never dealt with this sort of trauma to cope with, suddenly. Her curiousity is well-known for getting her into all sorts of trouble, and as misplaced as her interest was in this instance, I really hope to show that she begins to learn to connect with someone on a level that no one has before. Again, I really appreciate the comments!
NOOOOOO! Evil, evil cliffie! Hehehe. I am squirming in my seat, longing to know what's next!Great chapter. Where is Severus' mind taking him to? Where is this strange land? To be answered in the next chapter! * sighs and waits patiently*
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
LOL, thank you so much! I do so love to end chapters with villianous cliffies! Thank you so very much for the reviews, they mean so much to me!
Oh, (belated) congratulations for your graduation! And thank you, thank you for this chapter. The confrontation is really good. It made me think of a panther slowly advancing on its prey...
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
Thank you so much! *hugs*
Oh, Minerva, the Catwoman! Hehehe. God, your description of their exaustion is so well done that I'm feeling reaaaaaly tired right now. And I loved the moment that the rage for his mistreatment, his abandon made her feel again. Running now to read the next chapter!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
LOL!Aww, thank you so very much! It helps that, when I wrote about the exhaustion, I was pretty tired myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the encouraging review!
The wait was definitely worth it! But I do wish your chapters were longer, the whip saw is giving me whiplash.
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
LOL, thank you so very much! I realy have thought of extending the chapters more, but each chapter (save one or two) is loaded with emotional turmoil, and I don't want to overload anyone on angsty goodness!
Do you think we can get Severus into counselling, I know a few good therapists LOL , great story so far, can't wait for more ! :)
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
LOL, thank you so very much for the reviews! In lieu of a professional, let's hope he'll allow Hermione to help pick up the pieces!
They need to talk without all the yelling at each other!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
LOL! They don't quite understand the basics of communication just yet, do they?
magical depletion? is that what made them ill?
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
I do believe that had something to do with it, but for Severus it is more of a psychological illness that seems to be manifesting itself phsyiologically. Thank you so much for the review!
they are such a pair of children! Ok, there may be good reasons for their behaviour but the part where Minerva takes them to task like errant firsties is so good!
Response from KingPig (Author of Conversations)
LOL, thank you! I love having Minvera in such a strictly maternal role!
