45 years old and hopelessly intrigued by the Potterverse and all that it contains. Really, I'm too old for this sh*t, but... here I am.
Reviews for The Wolf and his Bane
So romantic, without being overloaded with kitsch! I'm glad they stayed there, and I'm sure in 3 years or so, Remus will visit Harry -- but not to stay. Thanks for this lovely story!!
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
You may well be right. I had vague thoughts of Harry visiting them at Remus' urging, mainly because he still wouldn't want to go back to England and also because he'd want Harry to see and feel the magic at the Canyon. ;o) That way Severus can 'monitor' how long Harry stays and kick him out when he's had enough! Thanks for reading and reviewing.~HH
What an ending. Yay!
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Woo hoo !!! Am really happy that you enjoyed it, and thanks for reading. ~HH
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your story!!!! The emotion.... and just how much they need each other in their lives. It's absolutely wonderful!!
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Thanks for that! Yes, they have both been through so much in their lives and they're finally understanding what it means to need someone. ;o) One more chapter to go.
That was oddly comforting. I enjoyed that chapter.
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Thanks. After that bloody book, I guess we all need a little comfort. ~HH
Oh, wow. That was hot.
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed.
Somehow I missed your last few posts, but that means more to enjoy today. The tension between them is still fabulous. I do feel sorry for Severus though. The Spirits seem to be giving him the short end of every exchange. Sure, Remus has been hurt, but has Severus.
I can't wait to see more!

Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Yes, the spirits do seem to be taking sides here, but they've developed a 'relationship' of sorts with Remus and they ARE fiercely protective. Severus needs to learn that he doesn't have to insult and brow-beat people/Remus into doing what he wants, but he's never been one for gentle coersion.
Two more chapters to go and should upload another one to the queue tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks for reading, and I do love that little werewolf smiley! ;)
*sighs* You know I adore this story. The imagery, the earth/nature/magic connection, and the beautiful way you express RL's emotional journey. Just lovely, lovey!
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Squee! Yes, I know you have a particular affinity for this story, and I'm so happy to FINALLY post the thing! ;)Hugz
Gods, this is beautiful. I love how you've interwoven both their healings with each other and with the energies of the land. Just utterly beautiful.

Hello, my sweet, and thank you for coming here to visit the boys. So happy you enjoyed it because this is the one fic that meant the most to me, both to write and to actually complete - it took a year but it was worth it! ;)*hugs*

nice ending..... loved the way the story evolved and loved theway it ended!!!
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Thanks so much! When I began the story I wasn't certain how it would end, and even though I hoped for happiness, with the Muse, one never can tell! ;o) She decided to have pity on me/them/us all, and I'm very thankful for that! Thanks again for reading and reviewing!

I was just in Arizona (although not to the Grand Canyon this time). This story is quite beautiful.
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Thanks! What part of AZ were you visiting?? Next time, I'll NEED to do the SkyWalk and see Sedona.
Response from blue artemis (Reviewer)
Basically the Route 66 part. We went to Oatman and fed the burros. We were thinking of the SkyWalk, but it was $85 per person, and we had both already seen the canyon, and decided it wasn't worth it. That, and I'm scared of heights.
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
85 US DOLLARS to go on the SkyWalk? *is horrified*. We did a helicopter tour and that was another blowmind, but I'd love to stand still while over the canyon and see the distance below my feet!
Our trip to AZ was centred around the Canyon and the Barringer Crater/Painted Desert. We drove past Winslow, AZ and wanted to stop, stand on a corner and take a photo (like in the Eagles song!) but it was late. ;o( The desert climate is so completely different to everything I've known growing up in the Caribbean, so although I longed for green things, the desert had its own kind of beauty.
Response from blue artemis (Reviewer)
My husband and I stopped in Winslow and stood on the corner they have set aside for just that purpose. It has a mural of a girl in a Ford, even, and a statue of Don Henley (I think, maybe Glenn Fry).
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
OMG that's fabulous! Next time I'm in AZ i'll STOP in Winslow!
Such a pivotal chapter--so much going on. Snape's growing self-awareness and insight, their first 'touch' when Apparating, then the appearance at Mooney Falls! It's so poignant that Remus takes Snape to the place of his 'rebirth' and that's where the gap between them is bridged. I love how Severus compares the spirituality and peacefulness of the falls to Fawkes and their snogging session is incredibly well-done: "Remus' body virtually vibrated with his need; he was on fire and the burn was strong and sweet." Lovely, lovely writing, dear!
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
It's YOUUUUUUUU!!!! *waves* Yes, a very pivotal chapter indeed, and it gives both men lots to think about. I don't imagine that Remus expected things to go quite the way they did, but then, it's Severus Snape we're dealing with, and who can really predict *him*!
I also had a series of very specific images for the waterfall snogging scene... burned into my mind's eye by the muse, and I really hoped that I could capture that with words. ;o)Thanks for my review! *squee!*
::hugs you::
This was just beautiful. Your description of the canyon's raw beauty and it's magic makes it quite clear that you have been there and felt it for yourself. Your Severus/Remus interactions were raw, and painful and real. I adored this story. You are very talented.
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Wow. Thank you SO much for that wonderful review. Yes, I've been to the GC, and I felt as though I could see Remus there; that he'd fit right in with the landscape and the wilderness. What's unique about this story is that it was almost entirely Muse-driven, meaning that I didn't really know what would happen or how it would end. There was no real pre-defined plot and nothing concrete, and that was both exciting and a bit nerve-wracking, because although I wanted them to end up together, there were times when I just didn't know whether that would actually happen! Luckily, the Muse was forgiving ;o)Thanks again for reading. ;o)~H
*Now i really feel like a stalker*Hi, I've recced your story informally at my IJ at http://red-day-dawning.insanejournal.com/55968.html - I hope you don't mind. If you have any problems with that, or with what I've written, please let me know.
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
Hey 'Stalker' Red...Don't know how I never responded to this review *facepalm*but uh... thanks! ;o))I do remember that your rec made me squee.hugs~H
Ah, this is lovely and so beautiful, sexy and wonderfully hot. You've built up the scenes so well - both the Grand Canyon surrounds, and their states of mind. Remus's fearful reluctance to allow Severus to hurt him again, and Severus's pained longing for him are both well-characterized, with a smooth and flowing pace. (By pace, I think I mean the way things unfold and develop in a measured time-frame - there may be a better word... rate of development?)Thank you - well worth my ridiculous and undignifed scrabble across the net to read it NOW! I'm so glad I came across this beautifully written and crafted piece.
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
*grins at the mental image of your undignified scrabbling*You sweet thing. ;o) I really am almost embarrassed that you went to all that trouble for lil' ol' me, but at the same time, imagine the grin on my face!Thank you so much for your wonderful reviews. Yes, I believe 'pace' is the right word to use, and for me the timing, cadence and unfolding was paramount to the telling of the story. My betas began to fear that it would become a 40-chapter, 100K-word monster, so I had to rein it in!I felt that portraying the Canyon as a character was hugely important because of the huge impact that the place had on me when I spent a few days there. Nothing can ever properly convey the 'feel' of being there, so I really tried to get it right, as much as possible with mere words. I also believe that, without the Canyon's help, Remus might have foundered under the mental and emotional strain, and Severus certainly wouldn't have been able to deal with that result.I'm still grinning. Thanks again. ;o)~H
OK - I've just spent 20 minutes chasing you over the internet (I remembered your name from LJ) because I got to chap 6 & couldn't proceed, because I'm not a member, and then finally returned & joined simply because this story is seriously addictive (and totally wonderful & engrossing & convincing & entirely plausible) & I had to read MORE!Whew! Now that I've caught my breath I will settle down to read chap 6. I promise to review again at the end, because this story is fantastic!
Response from HogwartsHoney (Author of The Wolf and his Bane)
OMG SQUEE! My first stalker! LOLz. Hello lovey, and I'm seriously and hugely flattered that you went to all that trouble! Of course, am thrilled that you did! *huggles ya*Happy you're enjoying this fic - it's perhaps the one I'm most proud of in terms of how long it took to write and the way in which it eventually came together!See you at the end. ;)~H
