I am in my late 50's and I didn't even start reading Harry Potter until after the third book came out. My granddaughter got me 'hooked on Potter,' and while surfing the net one day, I found a fanfiction site. That was it! My first story, "Renaissance," was published on Ashwinder a month later and I've been writing ever since. I am primarily a HG/SS shipper, but I also enjoy reading and writing RL/SS. I live in Tampa, Florida with my wonderfully adoring and supportive husband, and three completely spoiled cats. (Kallie, Mysha, and Smudge {who was the inspiration for the cat that Severus gives Hermione in my story "Renaissance."}) I'm always happy to correspond with my readers and I answer ALL reviews. I'm always looking for plot-bunnies, so feel free to throw some ideas out.
Reviews for Tidings of Comfort and Joy
This is one of my favorite chapters in this story. The boys really came through, for which I breathed a sigh of relief! I also liked how Hermione kept her plans with Snape. Their Christmas dinner was lovely. There was so much dialogue in this chapter, and emotional dialogue at that. You did a wonderful job with it.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I'm so glad you enjoyed. Didn't their dinner sound yummy? It was a lot of fun researching French cuisine on the web and planning out their menu. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to post such a lovely review. It is greatly appreciated.
Wonderful chapter. I'm glad she finally told Harry and Ron. I like that you have Ron being nice and level headed.
I'm enjoying the friendship you have Severus and Hermione develop. I look forward to your next chapter. Thanks for posting so frequently.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I never start posting a story until it's finished, or at least nearly finished. As a reader, I know how frustrating it can be to start reading a story and then have to wait and wait for updates. (Even worse, is starting a story and then discovering that it has been abandoned.) I'm not a big Ron fan, but I thought it would be interesting to have him be the supportive friend this time around.I'm glad you are enjoying. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to post such a lovely review.
Response from ancientgirl (Reviewer)
Abandoned stories are a huge pet peeve for me, so I really appreciate someone who sees theirs through.
That meal left me craving for some French Cuisine. And the lamb's lettuce *mouth_waters*
Well written scene in a well written story!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Thank you so much for the kind words. I must confess, I'd never heard of lamb's lettuce until I researched on the web, but it does sound like something I'd enjoy.
I have been enjoying this story. Loved Snape showing up and carrying on as usual! Those poor young men (not really). Please tell me they are going to eventually drop the formal address???
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Well, Hermione and Severus will get around to calling each other by their first names. I'm not sure that Severus would ever welcome such informality from Harry and Ron ... lol. I'm glad you are enjoying the story. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to post a comment.
Response from Myst (Reviewer)
Oh, Definitely NOT with Ron & Harry! We need a "shudder" smiley!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
How does this one look? lol
I DID mean that i was looking forward to an update. And now that one is here, i am anxoiusly looking forward to another one.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
lol ... Next chappie should upload in the next couple of days. I have a couple of one-shots I want to post, but I want to get this one all posted first. This is complete in ten chapters. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to "anxiously look forward" to another chapter. Coffee keeps me going!
geez, if it's been 4 years, why does Harry still cling to his unfounded prejudices against Snape? *yawn* I'm glad she's come clean w/the boys, though. With Snape, Hermione and now the boys helping out, hopefully she'll be restored to her lovely looks soon. Or, if not, she can always live (hopefully as Mrs. Snape) in seclusion with Severus (knowing that he loves and regards her highly looks or no) and only have the boys and her parents in on her secret.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Maybe cuz' Harry is a prat? Look how long Snape held on to his prejusdices and dislike for Sirius Black and even Remus Lupin. I think it's a very human thing. In an ideal world, we'd all love one another, right? Too bad it doesn't happen that way -- not in real life and not in fiction, either. I do think, however, (I hope, at least) that book 7 will show Harry and Snape coming to terms with their acrimony. I don't think they'll ever be bosom buddies, but they'll have to work together to defeat old Moldyport so they'll tolerate each other, at least. Just MHO.Anyway, I'm glad you are enjoying the story. I can't reveal exactly what happens to her, but I hope you'll enjoy coming back to read and find out. The story is complete in ten chapters, so updates will be every few days until the last chappie is posted. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to comment. Harry & Severus have it out!
she goes to the loo alot, i've noticed...lol sorry for some reason that just strikes me as funny (it must be the sugar lol)
anyway great chapter and i hope you update soon!

Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Sheesh -- I can't win ... lol In my first story I was chided for having her be hesitant about mentioning the loo.I did have him going a couple of times, too, though!I'm glad you are enjoying the story anyway. The story is all written, so updates will happen regularly until all ten chapters are posted. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to post a comment.
*Swoons* I swear I love every chapter you ever write. I still cannot wait for more!!!!JuliannaP.S. I read your other two stories. (I have actually stayed up almost 24 hours for just the one lol) And I was deeply moved, and deeply in love. I am so happy that you showed them to me, and gave me a copy of them for me to keep. They will go with my other, few, treasured pieces of fan fic. And you shall now become one of my fewer, favorite authors.. Thank you.. Once again. J.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I wrote a nice long response to this, Julianna, and it got lost somewhere between "preview" and "submit". sighAt any rate, I'm so glad you are enjoying the story. And I'm flattered and humbled that you would stay awake so long to read my work.Thank you so much for your lovely remarks. Sleepy Reader
okay where did i read this before??
i thought it was something that i had enjoyed reading before. thank you again.

Thank you. Sometimes when I see this I think I'm losing my mind. lol
This is goooood. Can't wait to read the next segment!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I'm glad you are enjoying it. I've already uploaded chapter four. It should validate tomorrow. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to post a comment.
Wooh, excellent fic! cant wait for more!!Pyro
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I'm so happy that you are enjoying it. The story is all written in ten chapters. Chapter 5 will post within a few days. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to leave a comment.
Wonderful!
I only wish there were more.
I've only ever seen Cottage Pie mentioned in one other fic. LOL Now, I'm afriad I have to make one.
I just love the I D 10 T - is that real, or an invention of yours?
This is a really excellent fic so far - with so much obvious potential.
My only criticism is that you aren't writing; or posting, fast enough...
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Busy AuthorI'm glad you are enjoying the story. It is completely written in ten rather long chapters. Three have posted in a little over a week. That's not bad, considering the first chapter is still in queue at sychophant hex with absolutely no indication of when it will ever validate. I actually mention Cottage Pie in another fic, but I'm still working on that one. And the I D 10 T error is something I heard about many years ago. I'd give credit to whoever sent it to me, but I don't remember! Thanks for reading and for taking the time to post a comment. I Will be uploading Chapter 4 tomorrow.
Response from Anon (Reviewer)
LOL I realise that you are posting quickly. I merely wanted to emphasise my appreciation of your story. Now I have to find another fic of yours, in which you mention Cottage Pie... that will make 3 time I've seen it... LOL
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I just uploaded Chapter Four ... it will probably validate on Sunday. As for my other fic that mentions Cottage Pie, that one hasn't started posting anywhere, yet. I'm still writing it. I don't usually start posting my stories until they are complete, or nearly complete. As a reader, I truly dislike waiting weeks for updates of stories. As an author, I don't like to keep my readers waiting too long for updates. That's just me, though! Thanks again for reading and for leaving a comment.
I love this story, but i'm anxious to see it go somewhere.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I hope that means that you are looking forward to the next update and not that you think the story is barely plodding along. I try to balance it so that the story moves at a nice pace, but doesn't seem rushed. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to leave a comment.
OMG bwahahahah and I thought only *I* was crackheaded enough to break out due date and conception calculators!
That was good! *high fives*
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
While I love receiving reviews, I think you've actually posted this review to the wrong story ... lolI hope you've actually read mine, though! Confused author
Response from cmwinters (Reviewer)
O_o
Hermione's parents almost named her Noelle?
. . .
Erm. Well, see, if she was born September 19th, her conception date would have been on or about December 27th. <_<
You know, as early as 24th December, as late as 31st (which would put her at having the Dark Lord's birthday)?
*cough*
I thought you were making a FANTASTIC and very subtle joke there. (Take credit for it, and not have it seem coincidental!) :P
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Okay ... now I'm embarassed. I really DID know that if Hermione was born on September 19th, then she was probably conceived around Christmas time. It was a subtle joke that no one but you caught ... and then I missed that you caught it. sighYes, her parents probably celebrated Christmas with a ... dare I say it? A BANG! lolThanks for not calling me a dunderhead, though I certainly deserve it. Chagrined author
Response from cmwinters (Reviewer)
Woohoo! Crack-head due date calculators of the world unite! *highfives* :P
Ah, You must have more!! more I say! Lol. though I just got your reply back telling me there would be more I still have to say I want more *Giggles*Julianna
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
There will definitely be more, Julianna! If you don't mind me tooting my own horn, might I suggest you go to sychopant hex and read "Renaissance"? It is complete in 39 chapters, though none are as long as the ones here. Also there is a story called "As the Pages Turn." It very long and complete! (If you prefer, I can send you a file via e-mail. Contact me through my author's page and I'll send it.) Owl Post
I D 10 T. that was great. wow i feel like a dunderhead for not getting that when she first said it. lol. love it!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I'm glad you liked it. I wish I could take credit for it, but I got that in an e-mail at least ten years ago. I'd give credit if I knew where it came from, but I don't remember. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. Fixing an 'eye-dee-ten-tee' error.
I have loved the first page (Chapter) of your story. It really has gotten me to want to read more, as I shall now. I hope you finished this story for those small people like me, to completely read. Julianna
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I'm so glad you are enjoying the story, Julianna. The story is completely written in ten chapters. I will be uploading regularly until the entire story is posted. I've never abandoned a story once I start posting. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to post a comment.
What I really like about this story is the slow-build into a friendship. We get to see them interacting, getting to know each other. It's very nice and their interactions are so well-written. A very nice chapter. I enjoyed it a great deal.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)

Lovely chapter. LOL, so I'm wondering if that "Idiot" error is real.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I'm glad you liked it. As one who is not really computer savvy, I'll admit to making an 'eye-dee-ten-tee' error on more than one occasion. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to post a comment.
Awe. Another great chapter. Can't wait for more.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I'm glad you liked it. I will be uploading Chapter 4 within the next couple of days. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to comment.
Lovely start :) I look forward to your next update. Thank you for writing

I'm so happy to know you are enjoying the story. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to leave a comment.
It's even more touching when the postwar angst is Hermione's rather than Snape's. I wish Severus found out about Hermione sooner. of course, Bellatrix would want a spell that hideously disfigured, if not outright killed, a female foe. Scrimgeour is despicable.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I like reading (and writing) hurt/comfort stories. I'm glad you like this one as well. Your comments about Bellatrix are right on, as will be revealed in a later chapter! And, you're right about Scrimgeour as well. He's a slimy bastard! Thanks for reading and for taking the time to leave a review.
I have just found your story, and just wanted to thank you for a wonderful morning read. I look forward to the update. I hope Hermione and Severus find the counter curse, because I love happy endings. Best wishes.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I'm glad you've discovered my story. The story is all written and is complete in ten chapters. I will be updating regularly so please keep checking back.I don't want to give away too much, but I love happy endings, as well. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to post a comment. Accio Happy Ending!
i hope severus and hermione find the curse's name and fix her face soon
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
They will be working diligently to do just that. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to leave a comment.
