I am in my late 50's and I didn't even start reading Harry Potter until after the third book came out. My granddaughter got me 'hooked on Potter,' and while surfing the net one day, I found a fanfiction site. That was it! My first story, "Renaissance," was published on Ashwinder a month later and I've been writing ever since. I am primarily a HG/SS shipper, but I also enjoy reading and writing RL/SS. I live in Tampa, Florida with my wonderfully adoring and supportive husband, and three completely spoiled cats. (Kallie, Mysha, and Smudge {who was the inspiration for the cat that Severus gives Hermione in my story "Renaissance."}) I'm always happy to correspond with my readers and I answer ALL reviews. I'm always looking for plot-bunnies, so feel free to throw some ideas out.

Hooray! But shame on you for not updating sooner.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Chapter 8 was published just 5 days after chapter 7. I don't think that's very long time at all. I've seen stories that take weeks and sometimes MONTHS to update. (And some that have been abandoned.) I'm glad that you like the story enough to be impatient for the next update, but gimme a break! lolThanks for reading and for taking the time to leave a comment.P.S. Chapter 9 should be uploaded by Tuesday, I think.
Another great chapter. I'm glad they found the cure and hopefully it won't be long before Hermione & Snape "hook-up". Thanks!!!

Things will 'come together' next chapter ... if you know what I mean! Thanks for reading and for taking the time to review. It is appreciated.
When I got to the last line , I was like, NOO the chapter can't be over! More, more more! I adore this story, not the typical SS/HG stuff. :)
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Sorry, but I had to end the chapter somewhere. I'm glad you are enjoying the story. Two more chapters to go. I hope to upload the next one by Monday. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to leave a comment.
Great chapter!!! I like all the details on how Severus and Filius tested the cure... how Poppy is involved with the cure because of her expertise, and how Hagrid contributes. I really like your premise for the story but all the extra details with characters besides SS/HG make it that much richer and more interesting.

Thank you so much for your kind remarks. I had a lot of fun writing Filius Flitwick in this story. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to review.
*snifffffffff*
Some poor dear men are just so obtuse ;)

Ya' think? Thanks for reading and for taking the time to review. It is appreciated.
I'm glad that he's doing this because he wants to and not because he's compelled by some spell.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Too bad he didn't realise it sooner! Of course, he WAS forced to go see Dumbledore. I'm sure that was actually a relief, even though he'd been putting it off. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to review. It is appreciated.
One of the things that I love the most about this story is having the various people that know Hermione all working together in their various fields of expertise. So often in fanfiction all I read of Severus is "greasy git bastard"; hates everyone. Many insist on having him this extreme caricature rather than a human being that is stretched beyond belief trying to fulfill everyone else’s expectations, or just survive. You don’t know how much I appreciate your version of Snape!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
I"m glad you like "my" Snape. I'm with you in that, all too often in fanfiction, Snape becomes a caricature. I see him as a person who made a terrible, horrible mistake in his youth -- probably driven by a deep desire to 'fit in' and be accepted. I think Lucius Malfoy took advantage of his vulnerability and drew him into the service of the Dark Lord. When he realised his mistake he went to the one person he knew would be able to help him -- Albus Dumbledore. I think Snape has spent nearly twenty years trying to atone for that youthful mistake. Is he ascerbic? Most definitely. He is sarcastic and sometimes mean-spirited? Without a doubt. But, that doesn't change the fact that he is, at heart, an honourable man. And we can only imagine the stress he has lived with since Voldemort's return. No wonder he's an emotional and physical wreck! Now that Voldemort is gone, the pressure is off, sort of. He must still deal with his guilt over the death of Dumbledore, even though he was following a plan put in place by Dumbledore himself. (At least, that is what I think will come out in book 7. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!)Anyway, thanks for reading and for leaving such lovely and insightful comments.
Wow! Great chapter!

I'm glad you liked it. I loved writing the scene between Snape and Dumbledore. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to comment.
what a tremendous and powerful first chapter! I think I may have to get used to snape's 180 degree personality change, but I am really enjoying Hermione's character. I think it is a realistic portrayal of battle's aftermath. Keep up the excellent writing,
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Maybe only 90 degrees ... lol. I use the reasoning that we usually see Snape through Harry's eyes. On the few occasions we see Snape without the Harry filter, he seems less ... unpleasant. He is certainly civil to Narcissa and Bellatrix when they come to his home at the beginning of Half-blood Prince. And he attends one of Slughorn's parties and seems to be getting on all right. And, he is feeling the 'tingle' to remind him of his promise to Dumbledore. I'm glad you like my characterisation of Hermione. I, too, can see how she would have withdrawn and hidden herself after such an injury. I hope you will continue to enjoy the story. It is complete in ten (rather long) chapters and the second chapter is in queue. I will be uploading regularly until the entire story is posted. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to leave a comment. It is much appreciated.
Excellent! Wonderful beginning. I can't wait to see where this story goes. Look forward to reading more.

Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)

I'm irked.? I wrote a review and the network connection was lost.? So, sorry if this appears twice; supposedly it didn't post.? Anyway, I first expressed my hope that the "happy ending" including something horrid happening to Scrimgeour for being so cruel.? Then, that I was glad to see that Severus could show some compassion now and that he was going all out to fulfill Albus' request.? Eagerly awaiting the next installment!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Your review posted but once. Thank you for taking the time to resubmit it. I know how frustrating it can be to write something and then not have it 'take.' This story is all written, so subsequent installments will post regularly. I'm glad you are enjoying the story.
Ah, here it is! Another favorite of mine from the exchange. I'm so happy to see it here.
You set the scene here so well and the dialogue between the two is fabulous.
This prompt could have gone so many places and you did an excellent job of going somewhere unexpected and making it your own. I particularly like seeing Snape helping Hermione, as there are so many stories with her helping him. I love those stories (including your Renaissance, an all-time fave of mine) but I like seeing Snape in the comforter/healer role. That you were able to do so and keep him in character is perfection!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Tidings of Comfort and Joy)
Thank you so much. I truly loved writing this story. I'm delighted that you've taken the time to read and review here on TPP since it seems you've already read it as part of the Exchange. That's quite a compliment. I like Snape in the comfortor role, as well. In spite of his harsh and caustic exterior, he has, even in Canon, been helping Harry and the Order. This is a bit more personal for him, but I don't think it's terribly out of character. Thank you also for your kind words for Renaissance. That was my very first story and it still holds a special place in my heart. It's nice to know it is still appreciated. Thanks for reading and for reviewing.
I'm really enjoying this story. I may have read it a long time ago. It seems familiar but still so enjoyable.
This story just goes to show that some beauty is more than skin deep. True beauty lies in the soul and both Hermione and Severus had beautiful souls. This was a beautiful story. Thank you for writing and sharing it with us the readers.
What a wonderful story!! I loved Ron in this,Thank you for sharing!
This is an absolutely fabulous story. I've read it from start to finish today and am very sorry to see it end, though I am glad its ending was so well accomplished.
