Someone who really, REALLY ought to be doing something else, but just keeps on writing.
Wondering why my stories take forever? Have a look at My Other Time Devourer: www.willametteartcenter.com I'm both the webmaster and the president of the Friends of the Visual Arts, a 501-C3 nonprofit in Salem, Oregon. We Put The Fun Back In Art.
Having 2 sweet little boys tends to drag things out too.
And what the heck, as long as it's self-pimpage time: If you just can't wait for the next chapter of Fair Ex, you can always go buy my book. It's not HP or fanfic but it's got that Fawkesy snark (in spades) It's here: www.turondo.com Warning: there's a bad word in the title.

Once again, your story has enchanted me. Can't wait for the next installment!!!

Yay! More to come...
Oh, I like this. I hope you're not going to wreck what's left of Snape's life. I think they go very well together. His reactions were very well written and you've left him with even more insecurity. I want more.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
*grin* It'll show up sooner or later, I promise.
Response from ssforever (Reviewer)
Just a small thing. I noticed when rereading this chapter that you have Pen shrug or use her "arms" when Severus enters her rooms. Should it be arm?
Response from ssforever (Reviewer)
It's raise her arms.
Oh, my! LOL Well, that was unexpected. Teehee. I'm glad Harry didn't walk in again. ~snerk~
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
You know, I am too. But Hogwarts is a pretty small place...
Ooohh! What an unexpected turn this tale has taken!! I am really (really, really, really) looking forward to the next chapter of this fic!! Cheers! GG
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Thanks! I have it kinda planned out, just need a chance to write it.
OMG! Harry gonna throw an eppie when he finds out about this! Not if but when. Gee if he didn't already hate Snape he would now have a great reason. Not enough details must have lemons!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Oh, it's going to have one more major twist before it's over, don't worry!
OMG! when are you going to update the best story I have read in awhile. I went searching for your writings after reading a sicfic humor and stumbled upon this one. I am all a flutter in my excitement. I hope you have intentions to complete it. I think you have portrayed Snape in an accurate manner. I also like that no one understood him and he lived through Azkaban. I would not be shocked if he did do time in the HP novels. I know he will not go unscathed. I am also impressed in your choice of subjects where people are scarred and broken it add a depth that is not often found. I think you have done research into this story, specififclly the music aspect unless that is a hobby/profession of yours. I feel the need also to comend you on the best name I have heard in a while Hilarity Giggle. Having known someone by the name of Bunny Easter, I am no longer suprised by the audasity of parents with a sick sense of humor. But this is quite common in the wizarding world, no?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
*blush* Thanks! I hope to wrap it up in no more than 5 chapters or so. I'm not a musician but I love to research stuff for my writing. I liked Hilarity Giggle too--the fact that she became a Dark Witch even makes it better. PS. You might like Fair Exchanges, too, though that Snape softens up over time.
Just finished Chapter 14. Loved the entire series. Wondering if you have the ending in place and if so how many chapters do you expect. Keep up the great work.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Thanks! I know where I want the story to go, but I haven't written anything more than what's posted here--too busy with Fair Ex and Heirs to crack down on PL. But I'll get to it. Someday.
Another good one. Finally a chat is pending between them!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Yeah, trouble is, I have yet to write it--so the updates have to slow down a bit.
I love the way you describe Severus' poverty, and how he makes the most helping encounters. That meeting with a blind pianist sounded so accurate.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
I'm glad you think so!
But Snape isn't heartless.?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Perhaps, perhaps not, but if you were to ask him, I think he'd absolutley INSIST that his chest was empty.
I liked this chapter, especially his thoughts at the last part. Thanks for posting. Another great chapter. :) (I like the cloak!)
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
I hope that wasn't too maudlin--I thought it seemed like a nice way for Charlie to grudgingly admit he'd rather see Snape alive than dead. Which, for Snape, *has* to be an improvement...
Ooh, Dula sounds like a lovely person.... wealthy but working as a dragonkeeper for fun. And a voice of reason. Will we see more of him? BTW, can't Snape get Floo powder from Hogwarts' Floos? Thanks for updating.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
I hadn't planned on more of Dula, but anything's possible. You could look around for Samael the Kind's fics--he created Dula--if you want to read more about him. Floo powder: I'm not quite sure if it's a business expense to use the Floo for personal research.
Response from June W (Reviewer)
Who is Samael the Kind?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
um, well, he's some dude that writes fanfic... He has a livejournal and he posts on Hexfiles.net. Warning: that's an all-slash site, in fact, an all harry/draco site. His story with Dula is called "Redeem Me."
Aw, I feel so sorry for Snape. The only things I don't understand is why he can't just Transfigure a blanket from the castle into a coat or why he doesn't pocket some food to bring with him. Surely they wouldn't begrudge him that. He's so pitiful. *pets Snape* Will Harry ever tell anyone that Snape's not so bad (i.e. the convo they had).
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Well, that's an interesting question. I'm not sure what's up with magic. If you can Transfigure stuff at will, why would anyone need anything, right? I.e. why would Ron have to wear his grandpa's unfashionable dress robes to the Yule Ball? Why would Lupin wear shabby clothes when he could spruce them up with a flick of the old wand? It's a mystery- to me, but obviously it's well integrated into Canon, so I'm going with it. Besides, it gave Charlie a nice opportunity to prove his mettle.I wonder--maybe if you use magical clothing and someone does a Finite Incantatum on you, or you Apparate, then your clothes revert to whatever they used to be... That would explain a lot. In fact, I think that's going to be my own Fanon Canon from now on!
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Reviewer)
Believe it or not, I've thought about that as well. Hahaha! That would be very hilarious if someone did that. :) About Ron, I just figured he didn't know many spells, still being only a fourth year. As for Lupin, I just assumed he hadn't owned anything else to Transfigure. Anything better anyway. I dunno. I was just thinking outloud I guess. I would certainly get a nice blanket from the castle and zap it a few times, making it cut itself up and sew itself into a cloak. :) My mind always questions things like that. The world is full of magic, yet they let little things get to them in fanon and canon. Oh, I've added you to LJ by the way. :)
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
! Added me to LJ... what does that mean, exactly?
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Reviewer)
Hahaha! You said that I could friend you Live Journal, so I added you to my friend's list. Teehee. :)
Since Harry is going to the Burrow, couldn't Severus have Harry bring Charlie a list of dragon parts Severus needs? BTW, there is piano music written specifically for one-handed pianists; quite pretty, actually!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Hee hee, Severus is going to make that same discovery (about the piano music) in about 3 more chapters. As for Snape asking Potter to do him a favor...yeurgh. I mean, a NORMAL person might have thought of that, but Mr. Sunshine? I think I would have received an OOC warning if I'd written it that way.
Odd ending that.? But it has drawn me in.?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Yeah, it is--just another little mystery to be explained as he figures things out.
Wow, that's a twist there at the end. I'm anxious to see what's next. Good work again. :)
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Yeah, he's kinda gone out on a limb with a hunch here, but he got it right. More to be explained...
More and more fascinating. That curse you've imagined is really horrible, it's one of the cruelest and most brillant thing I've read about.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Yah, it gets worse, even. I'm having a ball with this magic.
A sad background story.? But a well written chapter.?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
This is kind of a poignant tale all around.
Oh, wow, what a tale. Didn't see that twist coming. Heck, I was imagining her as an older lady. ;) Poor Hermione. That must have been hard for her. Looking forward to what's next. SW
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
She sounds old and bitter, doesn't she? But that's because of the curse. That'll come up again.
That was a fascinating lesson in history and dark arts.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Thanks! I was worried it was too presumptuous. I'm glad people are enjoying it!
That was a powerful chapter.?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Right on! Thanks! I'm glad you think so!
Another good chapter. I really liked the whole backstory, and call me odd, but I love it when Snape and Harry reach an understanding, even if it's no great close friendship or love (I lurve Snarry.... hehe). But you know what I mean. :)
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Do I ever. Thanks!
Another good chapter. Maybe his attempt at helping her will show he's trustworthy, whether it's acknowledged or not. :)
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
That's assuming he IS trustworthy... *evil grin*
I like he keeps denying that he really wants to help her, though I do like his "reasoning," trying to get back in good standing. Teehee. Very Snape.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Yeah, I'm not sure it's denial as much as habit.
Hmm, I wonder if Pendragon treats Madam Pomfrey this way. I assume Poppy gives Pen no potions, as otherwise Severus would be brewing them for Poppy. So why did Dumbledore want to abandon the research on Black Lightning, and why were they researching it anyway - as something Harry could use on Voldy?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Private Lessons)
Well, I think she probably trusts Poppy enough to take potions she gets in the infirmary--whether she understands that Snape probably made them is not certain. As for Black Lightning--more will be revealed quite soon...
