Another lovely and intriguing chapter of this lovely and intriguing story, even if both of the characters are half asleep through most of it. I didn't know about the two rivers running alongside one another in the same channel before they become the Amazon. (Who says fanfiction isn't educational?) Quite fascinating. And I love the way you've conveyed the lazy intimacy of this stretch of the story--and of course their verbal exchanges, however minimal, are intelligent and nicely loaded. You do know that you've posted this chapter three times, don't you? (I feel like Hermione pointing out the dirt on Ron's nose--sorry!)

Thanks! Yeah, that triple posting is something that TPP did, and won't let me undo--I've got a message in to the mods about out.

I adore this chapter, and your descriptions of the rivers, along with the pictures, are stunning! I love also how Snape agonizes over making a move on Hermione, actually aware that he'd fuck it up, and yet still be hopelessly unable to stop himself (from screwing it all up, that is). I can't wait for the next chapter!
I love the fact that Hermione does not have a clean mouth. I am definatly hooked now. Please update soon.

Wait till you get to her immediate postwar fu adventures.
Response from Hechicera (Author of Wake)
You know, that fu was supposed to have a strikethrough. Otherwise it just sounds like she went on a martial arts binge.
Not bad for a first chapter. I am hooked. Off to reading the next one.

Believe it or not, I'm working on this again. I was pretty appalled to realize how long it had been!thanks! And
Ah... There's nothing like having someone else (whose opinions and tastes you respect) point out to you the patently obvious: Severus Snape is attractive!
Never mind that he tickled her particular weakness —the extraordinary ability and mastery of his craft, skill so absolute that it deceived the beholder into thinking it effortless. Add to that his ferocious integrity, and a sardonic wit sharp enough to match her own, thrust for thrust and parry for parry.
Fuck!
She's got it bad! Thank you for this very delicious chapter.

Severus' musing on his life since being sent to Azkaban and his life at this moment is terrible to contemplate.
He had ten years left on his sentence, and there was no possible way to spin his current assignment out for more than five or six months at most. Shacklebolt would get what he wanted, Snape’s usefulness to him would end, and back he would go.
Except that I will not. I will die first.
...what he must do now was decide how he would spend what little time remained to him, and how he would bring about his own death when the clock ran out.
As difficult as it is to think about, there are worse things than death. What a powerful chapter this is! Well done.

Oooooooh. Now that someone else has noticed him, she is able to see him? FUN! I loooved the line "skill so absolute that it deceived the beholder into thinking it effortless." Isn't that the truth? When someone has honed their skill to that point, we call it an "art," but in reality, it's the evidence of MANY years of hard work and dedication. I think that's so we don't feel so badly about not being similarly successful at the skill in question. (Hope my rambling made sense.)
And suddenly, she is in a totally different place, huh? I hate when that happens sometimes. :)
This story just gets more and more delicious with each chapter! I love Snape's not-so-subtle moves on Fer, though the way he observed Hermione's irritability with conspicuous amusement makes me think he only overtly flirted with Fer for Hermione's benefit (though there was nothing beneficial about it, really).
Can't wait for the next chapter!
This update brightened up my day as I took three, yes three, connecting flights to get to my destination. I was in line with an older lady that said to no one in particular - "I remember when flying used to be enjoyable." Yeah, those days are long gone. I totally empathise with Snape at this point.
Love this story! Very sad for Snape, of course, although I can only imagine that Hermione will help him come up with something brilliant when the time comes, after being, of course.
So that's how contract jobs should work! Lag behind and you are in Azkaban. But seriously, poor, poor Severus - he is eternally marked. I so hope that they'll find some clever way to use the Invisibility potion to set him free. Despite his treachery and double dealings.Youaresogood!:)
Your story has depth. I like that. Now where's the next chapter dang it....
Will Snape sell out Hermione? Will they out wit the Ministry? Will Hermione ever find out Snape's position as a spy? Will they shag like rabid nifflers?Dammit, I must know!
My toes are literally wiggling with happiness from reading this story. So you know, thanks.
This was full-strength, undiluted Professor scare-the-shit-out-of-you Snape. Why yes, thank you, I would like a daily dose of that please. Wonderful story so far. Love all of Snape's "50 cent" word usage and your shagging of the English language.
Response from Hechicera (Author of Wake)
Mmm, yes, a daily dose. Me too.Side effects may include lightheadedness, euphoria, and difficulty sitting down.
"...surely a digested potion couldn’t possibly interfere with the workings of the fucking aeroplane." I *literally* laughed out loud at this line! Nicely done. It's interesting to see Severus's internal conflict.
Ah, Snape, please hold on to at least a sliver of hope!
I wonder what Severus will do now. I hope that he can escape the Ministry's clutches!
Fascinating story!
