Much to his surprise, Severus has survived the war. Gravely injured and without any desire to recover, he thinks living may just not be worth the trouble. His nurse, an ex-student who wants to become a Mediwitch, will try anything to get him to see that it is.

I love Hermione's defiance:
You wouldn’t dare.
Wouldn’t I? Well, watch this.
They will drive each other crazy before he recovers. I look forward to your next installment.

Mel dixit: Chapter 2 is off at the Britpicker's, and I'm working on 3 with my morning coffee. Prepare for angst!
Never, ever dare a Gryffindor... Heh, heh. I suspect Severus is going to be in for some hectic days now! But at least it will spur him to recovery just so he can get out of there. Hermione's actually doing him a favor! I eagerly await the next chapter, and really appreciate the work done to translate this for we poor English-only readers.

Mel is working on the next chapter. I can't promise you anything, but cross your fingers and it will be out soon.
Argh, what a mean place to stop here! Hurry, ppppppplllllleeeeeeaaaaassssseeeee with the next chapter! <3
Okay, truth time. I am rereading chapters with "Till I Hear You Sing Once More" from the "Love Never Dies" soundtrack. That's the sequel to "Phantom of the Opera"... it fits. Same soundtrack, different song "Beneath a Moonless Sky."
Severus is definitely going a bit too far with the suicide. I could smack Hermione across the head for allowing things to go as far as they have. It would appear that she's about ready to run away from her own wedding. Good, I hope she does. Or I hope Severus intervenes and objects. I'm glad Lily intervened against his suicide. I wonder what talk she's going to have with him.
OMG! He was really going to do it! I hope so much htat hermione will regain her senses, say no to Ron and run to find Severus.
Oh! Thanks heaven for Lily! While totally unexpected, I'm so glad to see her! Maybe she can slap some sense into him! I was worried there for a moment that this was going to be a really sad ending!
How wonderful of Severus to leave everything to Hermione, and Ron isn't able to touch a penny! I can't believe she is still going through with the wedding... nothing is final yet! What are a few upset guests (nevermind a very upset groom and soon to be inlaws), as opposed to living a lie and being miserable until the day she dies?
Come on Hermione! Drink the Potion! He gave it to you for a reason!
I can't wait to see what Lily has to say, and what Hermione decides! Update soon!
Ye gods!
Felix Felicis---come to our rescue!
Angstmeter is against the end-stop - please, please update soon!
Listen to Lily now, Sev. Or is it his mum? :)
Felix Felicis, don't fail us now!!!

Great chapter. *waits on pins and nieedles*
Oh please,You have to update soon.If she marries the the red head git,I'll hex her myself.
Hermione really needs a smack on the head. I think Severus should go the wedding, and put a stop to it. I think if he told Hermione that he loved her, then she wouldn't go through with the marriage. Why does she have to be a Weasley anyway? Why couldn't she be a Snape?
Hermione come to your senses women!! Poor Severus, don't let it happen again. Hopefully the potion he gave her will be lucky for him? Please update soon.
Maybe Molly will figure it out? She's got to look out for her son, after all, so even if Hermione's set on sabotaging herself perhaps Molly can see what's up. *Argh!*
Poor Severus. It seems he's exactly right. He truly picks the wrong women to love. Hopefully someone better will come along. I still think that for someone of her intelligence and spunk, she's being very out of character. I know you said she's young, but I don't think that's a valid excuse. She loves Severus, and she knows it. Even a girl younger than she can recognize when they do and don't love someone and what they should do about it. I'm glad that Severus said what he did to her. She needed to hear that she is someone who can do things for herself. His list of things that she's accomplished made it clear that she can be someone on her own. She doesn't seem like the type of person to ride on the coattails of another, and that seems to be her only motive for marrying Ron. Every chapter I say that I hope she comes to her senses. It seems like she has none, though. I still hold out hope that she will truly think before she does the dastardly deed. Or at least have Felix do it for her.I really thought the imagery and sentiments in this chapter on both of their parts towards one another was truly beautiful.

Mel dixit: Regarding IC/OoC, I think that depends on which of canon!Hermione's traits one chooses to focus on. I've been re-reading the books, and something that is catching my attention is how important it is to her to please the adults around her--especially those in authority. It's easy for me to imagine her being brought up as the Good Little Girl.

That's a good point and makes a lot of sense.
