Much to his surprise, Severus has survived the war. Gravely injured and without any desire to recover, he thinks living may just not be worth the trouble. His nurse, an ex-student who wants to become a Mediwitch, will try anything to get him to see that it is.

Please don't make us wait so long for the next update.

Mel dixit: I apologize for the wait--RL is kicking my ass a bit at the moment. I'll try to get 13 up next week if I can.
OMG! The suspense. I'm totally freaking. Oh please hurry up with the next chapter. LOL. Excellent.
Ah, yes... Advice from beyond the grave, that he may not make another collossal mistake.
Did he not think what it would do to Hermione, his committing suicide? Forget the money she would inherit. She would blame herself and be laden with guilt for all eternity. A rather selfish notion on his part, if you ask me.
I hope Lily can make him see reason.
How can she go through with this wedding? Ron is not the man she is in love with, he doesn't deserve her, and surely someone can see in her face how utterly distraught she is! Please don't go through with this, Hermione. Someone, anyone, please stop this farce before it's too late.
And Severus is only moments away from ending what has become to him a life without hope. I understand how forsaken he must feel, but I cannot bear the thought of his ending his life. I hope Lily's spirit will be able to stay his hand and convince him to go to Hermione before the final bonding is made.
What a heart stopping place to end this chapter! What a magnificent story this is! I can't wait for the next chapter.

Ooooh! The wait for this chapter was agony, but I can see the next one is going to be full blown torture! Ghost!Lily to the rescue?
Ack! Suicide? Really? Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Well, being rejected for a man that will never really make her happy is no laughing matter, and I suppose after the first time his heart was broken he knows what to look forward to - 20 years of pining, give or take. But still. Severus. Really? Did he really get so wrapped up in his misery that he thought his suicide wouldn't do to Hermione what Lily's death did to him?
Hermione cannot marry Ron. She knows better. She must! Or maybe Lily's spirit will intervene in that case too? Maybe Snape will whisk her off the altar? I don't know, and it's leaving me in the most uncomfortable suspense! Egads, I wait for the next chapter in the agonies of curiosity!
that was evil! no no no don't die Severus!
Well for Pete's sake, Lily. You might have visited him earlier in the day so there would be time to stop the wedding :) I too was hoping that Hermione would faint or something to buy more time. This is a great story and I am so anxious to see what happens. If she marries Ron and stays true to her choice for herself, I will be so sad that she and Severus never got the have the life they so deserve. However, if she goes ahead and marries Ron, but then decides that she picked the wrong guy, I will be happy but disgusted with her for stringing Ron along like that, knowing it wasn't what she wanted. If Severus goes through with this plan, well, I think it is a bad choice, but I would understand his motivation. I can sit here and continue to speculate, or you can just get the next chapter up quickly. Pretty please!
how sad! lucky would be if they married and ron was carried off and devoured by a rampaging hippogriff at the reception! drink the potion, hermione! wonderful update. thanks and mucho smoochies
Is it just his imagination or has Lily come back especially to tell him to get his arse into gear?? Great chapter.
Wow! This was so intense & passionate! Reminds me of some sweeping, old-fashioned romantic novel (& I mean that in the nicest way!) It's so nice to see Severus portrayed as a passionate, yet in-control man, who literally has the power to 'sweep a girl off her feet'!
Hermione clearly has some big decisions to make now ... heaven knows I wouldn't need to think twice (if I could think at all) after that! :-)
What a gorgeous chapter, but now I won't be able to sleep, not knowing whether or not she will marry Ron tomorrow. ;)
Surely she has to now realise that she can't marry Ron. Loved the lemons.
The site ate my review *grumbles*
Splendid chapter, with hopeful nuances. *rushes to next one*
for a minute there I thought the weekend before was the night before - but then I kept reading.
can't wait to see how they handle this - how is Hermione going to break it to Ron?
I am so glad she went to Severus' room, and refused to be frightened away when he tried to get her to leave. I cannot imagine that she will go through with the marriage to Ron.
Will she run away from the wedding before the "I do's" are said? Surely her parents will see that she isn't happy to be there? Will Severus be the one to object? Or will Ron finally see how unhappy his future will be if he goes through with the wedding?
I can't wait to see whet happens next. Wonderful chapter!

More Please....Hell of a good chapter.
Bloody idiot girl to think of marrying Ron, knowing how she feels.
How intense was that! I can't believe that she would still go through with the wedding! She doesn't love Ron, not like that... Severus is a fool if he doesn't at least TRY to stop her... Wonderful!! I can't wait to find out what happens in the morning! Update soon!
Heart-pounding excitement!
Now will she just dump Ron already???
So sad that she intends to go through with marrying Ron despite Severus and her feelings for him. It's as if she's already surrendered her being before the wedding.
Oh dear, now all you've done is gone and made me nervous. Please tell me she wouldn't marry Ron after what has happened this night. It would be tragic! I just found this gem tonight, and read it all in one go. And now you're going to leave me hanging? Please update soon. Really loving this!
So she's doing what everybody expects of her? I don't think I see Hermione giving in that easily. She's not a pureblood with an arranged marriage. What the heck is her problem? She's a strong spirited woman who bosses people about, not one who lets others boss her about. I'm really enjoying this story, but that just doesn't jibe with me. And I'm sorry, but if you're planning to bed somebody else the night before your wedding, there's something seriously wrong inside your head if you still think you should go through with the wedding afterwards. That makes her nothing but a whore.

Don't be so hard to the poor girl. She is too young and is confused.

Mel dixit: There's considerable distance between "something wrong in your head" and "nothing but a whore." For one thing, I don't think she went to Severus's room expecting to have sex with him--she went because she wanted to know how he felt about her. Now she's in a real dilemma--because she knows, and she's had this one wonderful night--and yet the wedding, and the marriage, have a tremendous amount of momentum. She wouldn't be the first girl who's gotten married, knowing that her heart's not in it but unwilling to disappoint everyone and cause a big upset. And like June said, she's only what, 18?
A rollercoaster of emotions with an abrupt stop that positively knocked the wind out of this reader! Cheers!
Oh, please, Oh please don't let her marry Ron!
