Sometimes writing, nearly always beta reading, I love to unwind after work by reading fanfiction.
Reviews for Antidotes
:D This was so nice! Love the connection you built between them (and nicely incorporating the unicorns as indicators, instead of bluntly or awkwardly broaching certain topics).
Really enjoyed reading this over the last day or two, thanks for sharing!
I really like what you have written so far and look forward to reading more. Thank you for writing and I hope you muse us feeling prolific.
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thank you very much. I've got this one done, now, and now I need to prod the muse to get going on my WiP.
wow, what a scary possiblity! faboo update. thanks muchly
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thank you.
This chapter was a joy to read, and I savored each word.
I'm glad that Hermione broke up with Ron and that they will stay friends. You handled that well, and I think Ron will be happier, too. It's hard to be constantly disappointed when someone you care about is not responding the way you wish they would. Yes, this is much better!
Hermione and Severus really made their feelings for each other quite obvious by the things they said and did. When Hermione told Severus that she wanted to "become the next Hermione Snape" I cheered. Then when Severus asked, “And to perform the appropriate function?” I just about jumped out of my chair. And then came the lovely kisses! Yay!
The Dark Magic that will be required to cure Hermione is a frightening thought, but if anyone can make it work it is Severus Snape and Lucius Malfoy
You've given us a wonderful chapter, and I thank you. Keep up the great work!Beth

Aww, I savor each word of your reviews. Yes, Ron really needed someone who could focus on him. Severus, I think, can handle the way Hermione can shift her focus rapidly and not feel left out. And he's good with the kisses. Thanks for your confidence in my heroes.
Now, you rest. I’ll keep the nightmares awayI am feeling emotional today because that last line of your had tears popping into my eyes. Its just so sweet of him to care for her sleep like that.
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thanks. I love it when he can be sweet and still maintain his Snapeness.
Im facinated by Narcissa's discussion of aurus. They sound so interesting. I hope NM doesnt feel the need to lie to HG after she takes a peak at her and Ron together! LOL
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
I had a lot of fun thinking about how it could all work. Thanks for the thoughtful reviews.
And it was a very good inspriation, Bambu's Saving a DE. ((nods)) I am glad to see Narcissa making an effort with HG. I think HG needs female friends to balance out the boys.
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Yes, both Hermione and Narcissa are surrounded by males!
What an exhausting day. But the reward at the end was well worth all the hard work. Mmmm, hopefully they'll remain on that first name basis. LOL
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thanks. I started to nod off in the middle of responding to reviews last night, but I didn't want to leave these unreplied to. I love your reviews!
I really like the way you've fleshed out Narcissa's character in this story... she's really quite a formidable witch. Dealing with men like Lucius and Draco, she would need to be. She's treated Hermione much like a daughter throughout this whole experience... I wonder what Harry and the Weasleys will think of how close Hermione has gotten to the Malfoys, and Narcissa in particular. And I wonder just what Narcissa saw when she observed Hermione and Ron's auras. Somehow, I doubt it was particularly flattering. I imagine Severus would be a much better match!
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thank you! I hope you like her ananlysis of Hermione's aura. I'm glad you're liking Narcissa.
It is almost a shame that he has to wake up.
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Oh, I'm sure he will be pretty good awake. Thanks!
How delightful. I think it's so cool that she can communicate with Severus in her dreams. I just hope he loosens up when he wakes up so they can continue. I know it will be a shock to everyone else, but perhaps he can hold on to the way he feels with her in the dreams. She is good for him, but I'll bet he will be good for her as well. :)
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thank you. Dreams can be funny things, but I hope you keep enjoying it.
That was quite sweet. I hope they can make their relationship work after he wakes up.
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thanks. The dynamic will change, but I think it's good ;)
Even though Severus warned Hermione about the manipulations of Slytherins, I think he truly cares for her and she for him. I wonder what Narcissa saw of Ron's and Hermione's auras, and why she hasn't said anything. Biding her time for the right moment, I suspect.I think it's great that the Ministry allowed the Malfoy men to go to the Manor to see how much damage had been done and to allow Narcissa to meet with the widows and wives to begin making arrangements for the funerals for their lost family members.I am worried about Hermione's lack of energy and her thinned aura. Severus needs to get better so he can find a cure for the damages Hermione suffered because of the Unforgivable curses she endured.Oh yeah, I really liked that Severus kissed her so tenderly. I'm glad that he is protecting her from her nightmares and that (after he kissed her) he said perhaps they could remain on a first name basis when he awakens. This is a lovely chapter. Even with all the sadness of the funerals, it has lots of hope, as well.Beth
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thank you very much for another amazing review! I enjoyed giving Narcissa all kinds of things to keep her busy. I hope you enjoy the analysis of Hermione's aura.
Ooooo!!! Kisses! I love Kisses!! Severus has to care for her. If he didn't, he wouldn't bother guarding her from her nightmares. Also, he must realize that there is a reason that she is his anchor; not Lucius or Draco or Minerva for that matter. Stubborn man! What's going on with Hermione's energy levels? It doesn't sound good. Great chapter. :D
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Hee hee! I love kisses, too. They can both be so stubborn at times, but I think that's part of their appeal. I'm afraid things with Hermione's health are going to get worse before they get better, but I hope you continue to enjoy the journey.
Each chapter is making me even more curious to read the next.
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Yay! Thanks. Sorry chapter 5 took so long, but I think it will satisfy some of that curiosity.
This was just perfection, WM. All my questions about Hermione's and Ron's combined auras and Narcissa's manipulations were answered in the dream conversation. He even seems attracted to Hermione, and she to him. What will happen when he wakes up? Hmm?
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thanks. This chapter gave me the most trouble, so you can imagine how thrilling it is to hear it was perfect! I hope you like the rest of the aura discussion in chapter 5.
I think it is so romantic that Severus is visiting Hermione in her dreams. Narcissa may be manipulating Hermione into a relationship with Severus, but, I don't think she means harm.
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thanks. Perhaps she only wants what's best for Severus, but we all know that he and Hermione are best for each other.
AU it is, then! This is too good just the way it is to change a thing.I like the way you've written the characters, especially Severus, Hermione and Lucius. An having Poppy being a Slytherin and Head Girl is a stroke of brilliance.
I can't wait for Hermione to start brewing the potions that will be needed... where will she find a Unicorn hair? Perhaps when she is collecting the moss in the forest a Centaur will appear and she will be able to enlist their help. Or maybe a Unicorn will be nearby and offer.
I'm looking forward to reading the entire story!
Beth
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thanks. I feel like Slytherin House wasn't treated right by JKR in the end. Have fun reading!
My favorite kind of Severus story. HE LIVES!!! Thank you. It's a very good beginning, and I'm off to the next chapter.Beth
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
You are quite welcome; I like it best when he lives, too.
But will she want to move on then?
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Well, what kinds of Potions Under Duress story would that be? ;)
Glad to see Lucius having a hand in saving Severus.
Response from WriterMerrin (Author of Antidotes)
Thanks! The prompt requested Lucius, so I've tried to include him as much as I could. :)
