Darned Child and Devsgma have combined their talents to tell you the story of what has happened to our favorite pair. It starts with a few letters from one extremely grouchy Potions maker to the manager of a used book store. Canon through Deathly Hallows to the point of Severus Snape's supposed death at which point it becomes AU.

Merely a fan playing with words.
Reviews for Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road
I just have to say this is my favorite chapter(so far)!I love the restaurant, very creative. The agitated plant, no veggies on the menu, Cormac...and the quill. Definitely the best part is the quill. Made me snort out loud (thought I woke my son!) lol
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL Thank you so very much,
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
! (Hey! That sounds like me! ;) )
OH I love that Snape's first reaction was to fulfil his scientific duty. That rings very true to me. I think any scientist would feel like that.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
I do too, mostly to get the "facts" down on parchment before the too human "feelings" get in and maybe mess up the actual results.
Thanks for a wonderful tale filled with magic and imagination. I have enjoyed it form start to finish. here are five stars to add to the five I gave you* * * * *

! We had a lot of fun writing it and it will be missed. ;)
Oh, NO! The mice died, even the one who took water. I used to give my college buddies a big glass before putting them to bed after a party, so I thought maybe he'd discover that Desdemona had survived.I really liked the part when he thought about Marcus Belby and his work.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Yes, the poor little mice died, but we now know why.Actually Marcus Belby was the relative of Damocles Belby (and the last name is assumed because we only know for sure that Damocles is Marcus' uncle - unknown if it was on the maternal or paternal side) who is the one who actually perfected the wolfsbane potion.

Oh, duh! You are right! How silly of me. Thanks again for such a good story.

You're very welcome,

. I actually had to look it up again to get the actual spelling and I'd done that once when we were writing it, so it's quite easy to get them confused. ;)
another excellent chapter. I was happy to see Hermione holding her own.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Hee! There was never any doubt she could. ;)
I love this! Mrs Carmichael, then a wonderfully imaginative restaurant, and, (just when I thought it couldn't get any better) Cormac the Uncoouth! And how cool that mentioning a salad or vegetable upsets the plants! So funny! And the pen that works like Rita's! LOL Thank you so much for this!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL We're so glad you enjoy it,

. Thank you for leaving us so many wonderful reviews. You've been quite prolific! ;)
wonderful chapter with magic, an unscrupulous businessman, and discussion of 'heroes' in the Wizarding world. This is an excellent tale. do you each write a bit and then e-mail to the other?
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
We take turns, but not by email. We use the wonderful world of LJ. ;)
This has been wonderful wonderful wonderful to read. Where can I find other stories from the Shattered Wands Universe? :)

. We appreciate your enthusiam, unfortunately, they are not ready for "publication" as of yet. They are still being written and re-written. You will, however, be one of the first ones we "notify" when they're available. ;)
I'm glad they found each other. I hope Dumbles rots in hell.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
So do we and he most assuredly will if there's justice to be had! ;)
Very nice ending. Hate to see it end. Great work and greta story.

. We appreciate your sticking with us on the journey. It took a bit longer than we'd planned. ;)
Ouch!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
It was a difficult time for both of them. ;)
When I was young I used to think scenes like this in books and plays were contrived, because logical people would talk things out sensibly. Then I became a youth and heard all the raving from my lovesick friends, and I thought them mad. But now I know that most people really are that goofy. So what with Dumbledore's love-spell (and maybe even Severus's recent coma-from-hell) it is natural that he would resent it.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Yesh, indeed they are,
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
and we're so glad you recognize this, because realism was one of the things we continually strived for. ;)
This is such a great tale, and I am glad to be getting back to it after all this time. You have such a wonderful imagination, and a very interesting take on ruthless Dumbledore. Thanks for sharing this !

and you've earned our thanks in return for sticking with us through the long journey. ;)
YAY! Excellent. Of course you've left me craving MORE, but generally, this is the best one can hope for in a truly great story. Some stories just go on and on losing sight of the initial goal of the story. Some stories just take a terrible turn or they start out good and turn to crap after a short while. You've maintained a good story and ended it well.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Thank you so very much,

. We truly do appreciate all the kind reviews you've left us and this has to be one of the best. ;)
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
believe it or not I'm pretty picky about some things. It's more about plausibility or grammar than anything else but I often just stop reading. I guess I should leave those stories some reviews but I usually just want to move on to something else. LOL. Or actually get up from my computer!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
I have to admit, I start many more than I ever finish and don't say a word. If Snape is really "Snape" and not Tiny-Tim tiptoeing through the tulips and Hermione is really "Hermione" and not a whimpy little girl afraid of her own shadow, I give them a fair shot. If I end up disappointed, I steal away without saying a word.
I'm glad they're finally happy together. Thank you so much for writing and sharing this wonderful story. PS : Is there a way I might coax you to write an epilogue if I offer chocolate cookies? *puppy dog eyes*
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
You're very welcome,
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
, but I'm afraid no amount of cookies – although I do love the chocolate – will persuade us to write an epilogue. An epilogue would put them up on the cupboard in a "statis" mode and we couldn't play with them again. ;)
:O I need the next part to this story! It's fabulous. Can't wait for more. :)
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Thank you so very much! We're workin on it! Honest! ;)
"The Customer is Always Right and Other Fallacies: Dealing with Demanding Clients in Today's Market."That really cracked me up. I'm loving their exchanges.

That particular bit of wit came from the marvelous brain of darnedchild. We're quite happy that you're enjoying our tale. :)

Oh I do hope you'll continue. I want to find out what will happen when a cure is found. I just KNOW one will be found, though perhaps not if Severus works on it alone since he's stalling. AGG. I LOVE this story. Please please keep writing.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
We haven't stopped, Mimimom. I just sent the next to the last chapter off to our beta, Lariope. ;)
I laugh every time Yorick is called "chicken". It's just so wonderfully silly and yet seems such a perfect thing coming from Snape. A falcon and a chicken have much in common but falcons are beautiful and graceful and probably more intelligent than chickens. These things are sometimes difficult for Snape to see, so Yorick is not all that different from a chicken to him. Or maybe it's just one little tiny bit of frivolity he allows himself. Either way, it totally cracks me up.I'm glad Snape and Hermione are friends again.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
It probably irks Yorick to no end to be called a chicken, which , of course, is why Severus calls him that. ;)
oh NOOOOO!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
I'm guessing this is the uhm - yeah - chapter. I can't say too much, but it was needed. ;)
Yay!!! Of course it would be required for someone to need Snape, to care about Snape to break the rotten spell. Dumbledore just never, EVER, thought it would happen. HAH, he underestimated some people. Poor Severus. Ooh, that Dumbledore!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
As you can tell, Darned Child and I don't care much for good old DD. ;)
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
I have a friend who hasn't read the whole series. We've talked about religion a bit because I do not ascribe to any religion. When I really like someone I want them to know who I am and admitting my lack of religion is part of that. Unfortunately, in this culture it can be a big hacking deal to some people. Anyway, this friend, She says her god is a bit like Dumbledore. Hey, whatever gets a person through this life is cool with me. But I just can't WAIT for her to read the last book. She really should choose someone else to represent her god.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
You'll get no argument from me there, Mimimom. To each their own, but yeah, no way I'd want old Dumble's for a god.
ohhh, I have NEVER hated Dumbledore more than I do right now. The thing is, it seems so close to canon...I wouldn't put it past canon dumbledore. AGGGG.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
We've just stripped away the vener that hides his true face. ;)
Oh wow! Can't wait to read Severus' reaction to her saying his real name!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
It was enlightening to say the least. ;)
