Darned Child and Devsgma have combined their talents to tell you the story of what has happened to our favorite pair. It starts with a few letters from one extremely grouchy Potions maker to the manager of a used book store. Canon through Deathly Hallows to the point of Severus Snape's supposed death at which point it becomes AU.

Merely a fan playing with words.
Reviews for Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road
Well at least he admitted his own mistakes and quit abusing the poor bird for them! ;)
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL. I'll be sure and point that out to him. ;)
Well I enjoyed it all but the last paragraph. Sad that the date deteriortated, but I asume you will catch them up soon. I really enjoy this story very much. I'm always pleased to find an update
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Aww. We're glad you enjoyed the majority of it anyway. ;)
I love this restaurant! There are not many things in life that I find both charming and creepy. Very funny use of the quick quotes quill. Of all the gin joints... McLaggen! Although it could have gone much worse. Maybe it will do them some good to forget the antidote for the night. Looking forward to more.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Hee! It was fun to develop! ;)
did he already take the antidote? it seems like he may not need it the way he's going! wonderful update. thanks and mucho smoochies
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
No,
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
, he hasn't taken the antidote yet because they haven't perfected it yet. He likes Hermione a great deal and would like nothing better than to have her as his lover again, so yeah, he's trying! LOL
Hmmmm... somehow I read this without reviewing. Must be the nargles. So sorry, I don't remember specifically what I liked, but I know it was another fantastic chapter. I just recall Severus kicking some ass, and then coming by to celebrate said ass kicking with Hermione. I actually think that this curse is serving them well, in a way. They are taking things slowly, and he seems to be truly trying to court her, rather than rushing in head first as these two are often wont to do. I think that will make a better, stronger base for a relationship if they ever when they get there.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Those darned Nargles! They get you every time, don't they? You recalled correctly and you're one of the few that seem to appreciate the journey we're taking them on. Thank you! ;)
Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. Mine died some time ago and I STILL haven't recovered my muse.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
It's rather ironic you brought her up today of all days. It would have been her 95th brithday so she's been in my thoughts all day.As far as recovering my muse, it happened after a particularily good crying jag if I remember right. It was like a small damn broke and flooded me with the need to write. Luckily for me, my writing partner, darnedchild, is a wonderful person who'd been patient and we picked up where I'd let us lay. Good luck regaining it.
Hmmmm. My candidates for casting the spell (in no particular order are): Bellatrix, the Dark Lord, Dumbledore, James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew. The only two of those with living relatives are James and Bella . . . unless Regulus somehow made it . . .
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
I had to go back and read the chapter you reviewed on in order to know how to respond and I found I couldn't because it would give too much away. It won't be long. ;)
“I should resent that remark, but as it’s my goal in life to intimidate any and all fools that I run across,” Severus remarked in an almost teasing tone, “I’m actually quite pleased that you’ve noticed.”I laughed my head off, out loud, when I read this part. 11PM, my kids are asleep and I'm sitting at my computer table laughing so hard my tummy hurts. Thank you so much for the wonderful addition. I've enjoyed every minute of this great story.Truffles, Sara
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
We're quite happy to have made you laugh, Dear Sara. It, after all, is one of our goals in life. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review.
WOW!!!! Wouldn't we all like to have done that...so many question....good friggin job ladies
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
There are those of us that might have paid a small fortune to do so. LOL Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review.
That was delightful. Very funny and light-hearted.I still think he will fall in love with her despite Dumbledore's meddling potion. And their mutual love with ultimately be the best cure.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
That is a possibility, but knowing (our) DD like we do, highly unlikely I'm afraid. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We cherish them all.
*broad smile*. I'd love to see the day when he'll have to use his cane to repell hords of adoring fan. Unless Hermione use her famous canaries. I'm sure she'll be a jealous girlfriend
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Perhaps, but I think a well placed scowl or two would probably do just as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate and cherish each one.
the coat rack cracked me up!!! made me think of the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Oh, that is a good comparison! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate each and every one of them.
I am sorry. I just didn't realize I hadn't R & R this xhapter until the new one turned ou tonight. And I'm doubly ashamed as I have denied myself such good reading and delight.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Never be sorry OR ashamed. You caught this chapter and the next one, and although you did have an unnecessary wait for this one, you got to read two at once! That's not all bad and you leave us such nice reviews, so it's all good.
Your Severus is a delightfully cantankerous, brilliant, emotionally damaged brat. I love him more every chapter! And I especially love being privy to the thoughts running through his head. So few writers in the SSHG universs are able to do that and I salute you for it. Your work here is truly brilliant!Thank you so much for keeping this story updated. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
We quite flattered that you appreciate our version of the SS/HG world. ;) Darned Child and I work really hard to maintain what we think they would or wouldn't do. Thank you so much for leaving us such a wonderful review.
Nice progression, but now I'm wondering whose court is the ball in...
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Good question, but since Hermione never played Quidditch - perhaps Severus'? ;)
That business man really had no chance, did he?
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Not even the proverial snowballs chance in hell. ;) Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
That was wonderful. I really liked the nosy neighbor sticking charm. that should be patented.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review. Not everyone takes the time and we do appreciate and treasure each one.
I KNEW he wasn't kidding about the volunteers! I really love how you work the casual misunderstandings in conversation; how he'll say something, she'll take her version, and the conversation works despite the fact that they're two separate people with different minds, just like real life! It's wild and crazy and wonderful.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
No, he wasn't. He thought it was a brilliant idea, actually. It was a way to make a few Gallons while they worked on the solution. Thank you, so very much. We try to make it as realistic as possibe. Well, as realistic as it can be since there's magic involved. ;)
That would make me insane. Which is why it is far more fun to read about it.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL Thank you. ;)
I was left feeling a little confused after their date (not because of the writing). What does he want? We know what she wants, but rushing things seems like a bad idea. Fortunately she is aware of that, and was able to muster a small amount of self control, to end the evening where she did. If he is going to tempt her physically I hope he has the emotions in place to back it up.It was a big step for him to go out in public, and I'm glad it went well, even if a few hexes were thrown. And what is the deal with Lorenzo? Could his detachment hold some answers for Severus and Hermione? Or maybe his interest lie more with Clyde than Jessica ;)Thanks for such a speedy update. Looking forward to more!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
I debated which of your questions to try and answer first, and I chose the easiest. The deal with Lorenzo: It's a minor breakthrough. He's apparently not being affected by the potion any longer, which is what put Severus in such a tail spin. Severus is not, in my opinion anyway, a social butterfly nor will he be, but he needed to get out and away from that breakthrough, however minor it was.As far as his intentions toward Hermione – Severus is still under the potions influence, therefore, still in "love" with Lily. He has feelings for Hermione, but they're not love – well, not that kind of love anyway. He values her as a friend, would probably kill anyone attempting to harm her and would like nothing more than to have her as his lover again.I hope I've answered your questions and not put you off the story. ;)
Response from HBAR (Reviewer)
Yes, you've answered my questions. You never have to, of course. I am just an out loud thinker (typer?). And you won't put me off the story unless you don't finish it. If you haven't gone wrong by part twenty eight, you probably won't!
That chapter was delicious!Perhaps he doesn't need a spell or potion to break Dumbledore's hold on him. Perhaps he only needs Hermione's undying love and devotion.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL Thank you so much, and thank you for taking the time to let us know you liked it.
I love this story. I just found it yesterday and haven't put it down except to sleep. I even loaded it up on my Iphone so I could read it while in the car. More please, and soon.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
We're always quite happy to welcome a new reader and quite flattered that you'd go to such lengths to read it. Part Twenty-Nine has already been loaded, so it shouldn't be TOO long. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We treasure them all. ;)
Floor? YES, PLEASE! My back would be killing me the next day, but it would be so worth it...I know it's been quite some time now since the loss of your Jake, but I just wanted to add my condolences here. My husband and I lost one of our cats last year to diabetes; we had been giving her the insulin shots for some time, but it only prolonged the inevitable. She was a mouthy Siamese mix with an overabundance of cat "attitude" and I cried buckets when she was gone.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
We still miss him and I don't think a week goes by that someone doesn't mention his name.
Severus was like a skittish colt about to bolt at the slightest provocation--I'm glad that Hermione's patience won out. Now I'm eager to run off to the next chapter so I can see if Simon/Sev will submit to the indignity of a bubble bath! It does mean he'll have his hands full of slippery, naked witch...will libido trump pride? I sure hope so!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL ;)
And here I thought Hermione would be the one thinking too much--it's Severus! Aggh! I think a certain someone *cough*Hermione*cough* needs to go interrogate a certain portrait *cough*Dumbledore*cough* and just happen to have some bottles of magical paint thinner sitting in view the entire time... Poor Simon/Sev...he doesn't want to lose the only link he feels he has left to Lily, however terrible it is. And I can't help but think that Lily was deliberately connected to those nightmares for that very reason, to prevent him from trying too hard to get rid of them.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
We'll see, won't we. ;) Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review.
