Darned Child and Devsgma have combined their talents to tell you the story of what has happened to our favorite pair. It starts with a few letters from one extremely grouchy Potions maker to the manager of a used book store. Canon through Deathly Hallows to the point of Severus Snape's supposed death at which point it becomes AU.

Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Steak? Where's my share? As far as Simon/Severus - All will become clear in time. ;)
Response from keske (Reviewer)
your steak isn't ready yet! now do you like porterhouse? or sirloin? either way its DEEELICIOUS!Hmm...Sev's still a bone head ^.^
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
You're making me HUNGRY! I hope your holiday was a great one. ;)
Um, wow. You almost make me want you to end it there. I know he's under the influence of something, but she doesn't deserve to be treated like that.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
I agree with the fact Hermione doesn't deserve to be treated that way, not with it ending there. All will become clear in time. ;)
that bas&^*d didn't suffer enough and neither did his portrait. but the residual "something" she detected, is it a horacrux or a horacrux-like thingy? wonderful update. thanks and christmas and holiday smoochies
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
All will become clear in time. ;)
Well, we're making progress but I'm a little concerned over his comment: "...he was sure his friend – lover – was ignorant of the fact he was still and forever deeply in love with another woman." Are we looking at another bit of trouble? And I'm wondering about the residual magic and why it's familiar to Hermione. Gotta love a good story and this is one!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Zipping lip here, some of the answers you seek are in the chapter currently in the que. ;)Thank you so much for the kind compliment.
Wow, Dumbledore was even worse than I thought. Too bad Severus/Simon didn't have his wand with him. Grrr
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL. Well, since Simon was in his own mind, that might have been - not so good. ;)
Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your mother. It hurts to lose a parent and for a while it consumes every bit of your life as you well know. I'm glad you found the strength to come back to this story. There is definitely something to be said about cold revenge; hmm, better make that the sweet fires of revenge. Now I must go read and see if this interference has affected Simon and Hermione's relationship.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Thank you for understanding. As far as the sweet fires of revenge, Simon enjoyed them very much, thank you! ;)
A satisfying turn of events in this update ...please continue.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
To the best of our ability, we will. ;)
Yay, it is raining new chapters! He must really need her if he is letting her fuss over him. And, it is too bad that they can't find a way to bring Dumbledore back so that they could kill him again. Might be a good activity for date night ;)
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL I'll have to suggest that to darnedchild. ;)
Damn Dumbledore. But I'm glad Hermione found a way to break the spell. Poor Severus.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
That she did. ;)
Oh, I hope you've gotten all of the bad bits of RL out of the way for a long, long time. Thanks for coming back to us despite all of it. I will admit, I had forgotten nearly everything about this story. I probably ought to start again from the beginning, but I couldn 't wait that long to read the new chapter. I remembered enough from rereading the previous chapter to pick it back up and definitely now remember why I didn't give up on this story; it is really quite good. I'm a little nervous because I don't know if you are happy ending kind of gals. However, I am really looking forward to whatever happens next.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL Without giving anything away, I'm not quite sure how to answer you. I can't say I'm an unhappy ending kind of gal, but I have been known to use bittersweet ones. As far as my writing partner, darnedchild, uhm - I don't think she's exactly what you would call an unhappy ending kind of gal either.I don't know if that helped or hurt, but it's as far as I'm willing to go here and now. ;)
oh boy now it gets really exciting! this is facinating and i look forward to the next chapter. thanks so much My condolenced on the death of your mother. it's never easy losing them but she's well and happy now. my prayers are with you.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Thank you for your kind review.
Albus. Oh, Albus. I love finding writers who dislike his machinations as much as I do.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL Then you're probably going to love the heck out of us. ;)
a bittersweet chapter...very nice ^^
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Thank you so very, very much.
I am so sorry for your loss, and hope you will find comfort over time. This chapter is brilliant! Very clever indeed
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
I have and will continue to. Time is the great healer, I know. Thank you for your kind words.
Oh. noes! How can they get the answer from Dumbledore if he's incinerated? This is a very bad Dumbledore you have here! and a very good story. Thank you for sharingi it with us.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Well, that's the thing really. DC, darnedchild that is, and I decided they never would have gotten any answers from the – headmaster which is why I gave Simon the freedom to do as he did. It made him feel sooooo good. ;)And thank you!
Absolutely charming!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
I had to skim the chapter you were reviewing and I had to chuckle again at Simon and his "chicken". Thank you.
I wonder if Severus will ever remember to ask about his books? And if Hermione only knew just how highly he thought of her "threadbare laundry day" pants...she might just wear them again. I know I would.
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
The books lost out to Hermione that day, I'm afraid. I don't think he's thought of them since. LOL
My goodness, what has little Won-Won been up to? Whatever it is, it would serve him right to see Hermione out on the town with a fellow devoting all his attention on her! And don't worry, Hermione--you can always invite him inside after dinner!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Hee! That would be the perfect revenge wouldn't it?
Boy, this chapter was not only hot and steamy but also hilarious as well! Well done for that! I do believe my favorite line was:Is he looking at my crotch? I swear he is. And then thinking that Yorick knew exactly what he'd been up to in the other room, had me laughing all the rest of the way through the chapter. I may own one of Yorick's distant relatives, a chicken who believes she's a cat.I wonder how Hermione's reunion will go...she mentioned earlier that her parents hated her for what she did to protect them. I can't help but think that her time with them will be strained at best. Hopefully Sev will be able to make her feel better with a special birthday present of his own!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL Thank you. You have a pet chicken? *blinks* How refreshing. I have cats who think they're people. LOL
Oh wow...I feel the intense need to go take a bubble bath right about now... These latest letters now that the cat's out of the bag, so to speak, are the best! Sev is letting himself go a bit for once in his life, behind the safety of the written word, and Hermione is getting her wish to be found witty and desirable as she mentioned to him in an earlier missive regarding romance fiction. Now the question is--if she answers "yes", will Severus have the courage to actually fly to her window after all? I do hope so!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
It's wonderful to find a reader who understands the "safety" we found for them behind the letters. Not everyone seems to understand how that works. You'll find out soon enough. ;)
Ooo, ooo, ooo--is this the turning point? Is it? I must know! No time for a good review, on to the next chapter!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL We're glad you're enjoying our little story so much. It's part of why we write.
"What did you want to be when you grew up?"And Severus responds, "An astronaut." Well, that's what I wanted to be, anyway! I look forward eagerly to read his actual reply...
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
LOL I must admit that was one response that hadn't occurred to me when I wrote his reply.
What a clever deflection by Sev there, but I suppose we'll discover just how clever in the next chapter, hmm? And Hermione wouldn't know him from Adam...I am so curious as to how he has physically changed after Nagini's bite! This rather reminds me of one of my favorite books "The Fire Rose" by Mercedes Lackey, where the heroine Rose reads passages from books to her unseen employer, little realizing that he is looking for specific knowledge to change his appearance back to human. I would love to know what precisely Severus needs from these volumes he's having Hermione search for, and why! I guess I'll just have to keep reading...
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Yes, you will. LOL Most of your answers will be found in the chapters that follow. Thank you again for being such a consistant reviewer. One that not only reviews, but reviews well.
I nearly snorted soda out my nose when I read Severus--oops, Simon--referring to Ron as "Won-Won"! And how smug he is to know that she will be writing to him first. What more will have to happen before he gets hit over the head with his obvious personal interest in Hermione?Off to the next chapter!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Hhm, I know, but you don't yet so am zipping my lip here! LOL
Hee hee hee...shelved with fiction...hee hee! I love it! And Hermione's line, "I think I've just been paid a compliment, but I'm not quite sure." is absolutely priceless! I am now officially adding this story to my Favorites list, just for that alone. Thanks for making me laugh as well as Mr. Sopohorous!
Response from devsgma (Author of Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road)
Hermione's thoughts and actions come from the pen of my dear, darling darnedchild, my brilliant writing partner. I thank you on her behalf.
