I stumbled onto the Potterverse in the summer of 2007, the weekend that DH came out, which was also the weekend I had a screening of the latest film. I reread HBP after starting DH and realizing it had been awhile, so, by the end of that weekend, I was overdosed on Harry Potter . . . and needed a fix! I stumbled onto SS/HG fics. These turned out to be far and away my favorite of these writings, in part because they're almost all wickedly erotic, funny as hell, deeply moving, and a vindication of intelligence as the ultimate aphrodisiac!
In RL I am an actor and a writer.

I always wondered why Severus told Dumbledore not to let anyone know the why. I guess part of it was for his own privacy, part because he was a spy.

I think he may even have been a little embarrassed by his feelings. Thanks for reviewing!

That was a surprise, that the Hat wanted him in Griffindor. Did he choose Slytherin like Harry chose Griffindor?
Response from Elise_Wanderer (Author of The Spirit That Remembers)
I think part of it was wanting to be with Lily--and in that sense, it's the same choice as Harry's: wanting (or in Harry's case, not wanting) to be in a particular House because of who else was there.Though I happen to think he'd have made a splendid Gryffindor. And that might have changed his life entirely!

It's nice that Harry finally has his eyes open when it comes to Severus. It would have been better if JKR did the same.

I think she actually did, just not very obviously. I mean, you don't name your son (even if it's just his middle name!0 after somebody you still hate!At least, I wouldn't....

Interesting start, but why does Ron assume Hermione has or had been cheating? Or did I read it wrong?
Response from Elise_Wanderer (Author of The Spirit That Remembers)
Ron assumes his wife is cheating because her withdrawal feels different this time. That's all I will say about that.... Ask me again when you get to the end!

Where would he go where his memories may not be safe. That is intriguing.

More and more we learn how much of a mystery Severus Snape was to most who knew him. I'm loving this tale of searches for the elusive facts of Professor Snape!!!!!Beth

Thank you so much! It was a very interesting challenge to figure out what we know--and don't know--about this very private man.The search continues....Thanks for reviewing!

It seems as thought there is nothng Hermione or Harry can say to convince Ron that Snape was a hero and a good man. But that won't stop the two of them from getting the true story of Severus Snape out to the world.Great chappie! Off to read the next one. Beth
Response from Elise_Wanderer (Author of The Spirit That Remembers)
I think getting Ron to change his mind once it's made up might be nearly impossible. He's still a decent guy, just not willing to look at Severus from a new angle. Hermione and Harry are more open to the idea of Snape the Hero, I think. Thanks for reviewing!

The quote from “Remembrace” set the timbre of the Prologue from the very beginning.I feel sorry for Ron, but I can see how living with Hermione could be, from time to time while she worked her way through an obsession, a very difficult thing. It's sad that he is counting on "the perfect anniversary gift" to win her attention back to him again. And Hermione's discontent is touchable; it has weight and tugs at her soul. What will she discover as she trys find out what is making her pine for things from her past?Great start!Beth

Thank you so much!I've had that quote running through my head for a long time, and it seemed especially appropriate for this story. I found the additional poetry i used throughout after I started writing--her words are exactly right for the atle I wanted to tell.I will be very interested to see what you think of this prologue when you get to the end, because all is not quite what it seems....Thanks for reviewing!

That's really, really lovely! And what a genius of an idea to make this comparision about Snapes memories, and make Harry come to this conclusions... I'm really impressed.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I am, I confess, obsessed by these memories--both the choice of what Severus gave to Harry and the effect they must have had on him. I can only guess how that would feel, to have the convictions of a lifetime completely upended by looking at things from an entirely new perspective.
Thank you for reviewing--it means a lot to hear what you have to say!
I don't know why I haven't read this sooner! Very well-written and plotted. Love the Emily Bronte poetry, too; what a great touch. Funny, I never realized how Victorian much of the Harry Potter universe is. Snape, too - the frock coat, the manners, Minerva's clothing, etc.

Lovely. Yup, this is *actually* how it ended, and JKR just left some stuff out. I am 100% with you on that. This story was wonderful-- the character development, the subtle progress of the relationship, the thought that went into the plot, and the writing-- some of the passages were superbly beautiful. I enjoyed it immensely and will read it again and again in the future, as I do with all my favorite stories. Thank you for posting, and I look forward to reading more from you. *hint* lol!!!

What a lovely thing to read at the start of the day! Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing...and agreeing with me that this is how it really ended!I have an Exchange fic that I'm dying to have people read but which won't be released for awhile. So perhaps I'll have to take on something else soon. With encpuragement like this, how could I not? Thanks, Kizzy! -w

an interesting and original tale. And very sweet to use the epilogue, but not have Hermione married to Ron. (yay!) Thank you for sharing this with us.

Great chapter! This really struck me: “I have never romanticized my choices or my life."Do you think we're all a little guilty of romanticizing Snape? ;)xoxoOJ

This was really lovely! You can take that as high praise coming from me. I still don't like the SS/HG pairing, but when a stry is written as well as yours, it would be a shame not to read it.Cheers. /M

I totally agree. Just because Hermione was there with Ron, doesn't mean they were married!

well, this was a lovely ending to a lovely story. i really liked the image of severus with the silver touching his hair smiling happily at his wife. i do feel a little sad now that it's all over, but it was a delightful journey. :)

You don't know how delighted that makes me to hear you say that! This was my first attempt at writing a scene like that (I've read some good ones, but never tried my hand before), and I was rather happy with the result--and I'm so glad you were, too! Thank you!!
