A rainy day in winter. Hermione, lying ill in bed, is haunted by memories of the past and makes a final decision. This is a sequel to "Unkissed".

Um... sorry? I could promise never to write sad stories, of course, but it would be a lie.My next one will be something hot or something funny. Promise. And many thanks for reviewing!

*sobs hopelessly for several minutes**gasps for breath and finally gets control of herself* *ignores the odd looks she's getting from her brothers*This. . . is one of the most powerful stories I have ever read. I now have a death wish, darn you. (No, not that kind!) I want to die in my husbands arms. *cries a little more*This is truly amazing. In a really sad, slightly bitter sort of way. I really loved the rose, although I'm sure it would have meant more to me if I had read 'Unkissed' before this one. Now I'm going to have to! Anyway, thank you for the wonderful story!~Katie

Huh, your review caused goose-bumps. Didn't expect this story to make such an impact! But I am glad it did :-)Have fun with Unkissed and be warned, there are a few bitter parts in it as well. And the rose, of course. In case you haven't started yet, I recommend to begin with the beginning: Valentine Mischief".Best, and many thanks for reviewing!

Just when I've almost succeeded in convincing myself that I'm becoming more flinty and less sentimental as I get older, a story like this one comes along and proves me wrong. Lovey story, but nonetheless heartwrenching.
Response from chivalric (Author of Journey's End)
Well, I try to convince myself that soon, very soon I will read proper literature soon. Next month. Next year. Next millennium *g*Thanks for reviewing! And being flinty is overrated...

Awww how sweet.Sad that Hermione is so ill, but the fact that Severus loves her so much to let her die with dignity and decides to die with her rather than be alone should have me screaming Nooo! but your Sev melts my heart once more.Brilliant! as always... hope you'll write more SS/HG

Oh , how beautiful. I cried. I was so perfectly written. I just couldn't help the emotion. Was there a story about their daughter or their wedding? I know about the valentine's day rose, and Unkissed, and the sequal to Unkissed where she gets grass in his bed. I was just wondering if the rest was written and I missed it. I love you work and would hate to have missed anything. Thanks so much for sharing. Hugs, Muggle Mom

You might have missed the epilogue to Unkissed, where Sasha is born. I posted it after I had declared the story as complete, due to nagging readers :-)Haven't written a wedding story, at least not in this timeline, but in another one. And for Unkissed, I will write two more sequels and one variation.Goods, I must be mad, promising this *g*Thanks for reviewing!

I'm glad you brought Sam into their lives. Glad he was their friend until the end. This is sad, but not as sad as unending pain. Thanks for sharing this sequel.

Oh dear, this is so lovely I am at a loss for words. However, I don't feel like crying, although it is always sad to lose someone. But on the other hand, it may be very selfish for those who remain to wish to keep their dear ones for their own comfort. Sometimes love means letting go. Hermione and Severus are old, they have had good 60 years together and they die in each other's arms - there are far worse possibilities, believe me. I have recently lost my grandmother (she was 98 years and 11 months old and tired of living, although she was neither seriously ill nor demented). The way she kept looking at a photograph of my grandfather, who died in 1983 after 50 years of marriage, made me believe that her soul flew straight off to his cloud in heaven, where she is now sitting and watching the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-(great-) grandchildren. Maybe she would have loved to have a possibility like the one you described here.

My gran is 101 years old and has a faraway look in her eyes since a couple of weeks. I bet she would have preferred not to outlive her husband for two decades. I was abit afraid that Snape killing himself would cause an outcry. Obviously, fandom readers are a lot more tolerant to different live-concepts (and death decisions) than normal people. Thanks for reviewing, dear. Your story is finished, and will be posted soon. I'll let you know!

(Jumping around like Rumpelstiltskin (does anybody know this fairy tale in the English speaking world???): I will get my own story by chivalric! Yeah!

Truly sad. But so incredibly romantic. You could not have painted a better picture of true love. This was perfect. There were tears, yes, but they were more than just of sadness.

I should have warned you... Knowing that you usually read what I write, I am imensely glad you liked that one. I promise, the next one will be either hot or funny. And your story is about one third done *g*

Oh, dear! I really should hate you, but I just can't! This was too lovely, too touching and too perfect.I really think you've hit a home-run with this one: how else could they live (or not) without each other? It would be very hard for me to see Severus without her or vice-versa.Very, very well done! You deserve some kind of medal for this! Bravissima!
Response from chivalric (Author of Journey's End)
You just gave me the medal with your review!*bows*Maybe love like theirs is rare in real life; that's why I have to write about it in fandom. Thanks for reviewing, dear!

*sniff* Moved to tears. But I don't think it's a sad story. When people die young, without having lived their life to the fullest, when they die unloved and needlessly, that's sad. Dying after a full life, having loved so much, even if it's because of a disease, isn't sad. It's moving. :)
Response from chivalric (Author of Journey's End)
Like Snape dying on the floor of the Shrieking Shack. Ever since I read that, I do all my best to make it undone. I give him a life, love, children, quite often. That's how I want it to be and that's how the story really ends, in my world. Thanks for reading and reviewing, dear!
I have tears running all the way down the neck of my nightgown in rivulets between my breasts. I know it's something that happens to all of us someday, but it is something that leaves such a lonely and empty sadness to realize that we will all likely miss someone we loved...forever. And that is what makes our faces crumble, our lips to quiver and the tears to flow with every blink of our reading eyes, unimpeded down our cheeks, our necks and our breasts. How sweet that Severus and Hermione don't have to worry about that. Isn't magic wonderful! I am sad that Hermione and Severus are dying, but these tears are not the bitter angry ones I cried when Severus Snape died alone in the shrieking shack after a lonely life of pain, being misused, hated, tortured, and having sacrificed himself to save a bunch of stupid, ignorant people who didn't even care that he was killed needlessly for the sake of their useless arses arses I am happy for Hermione that she had the choice and Severus who loves her so much that he helped her. I am happy for Severus that he can go with her. I wish I thought my own death someday would be so lovely. At the time of my choosing, in the arms of my lover, knowing we would meet on the other side right away and be together forever. O, that it would be so. I am sorry for their children. Will they ever meet again in the sweet by in by, dear chivalric? Off topic, did you choose your name for Prince Chivalric in the Assassin's Apprentice? That book series made me cry but I read all of them the and the spin offs and sequels numerous times.
Response from chivalric (Author of Journey's End)
Thanks for reading, and crying, and reviewing. It was the sole reason for me to write this story, making people cry...And yes, my name was stolen from Ms. Hobbs great books. Although I had Fitz in mind when I nicked it. So glad finally someone recognized it *hugs*
As sad as this was, it was beautiful and touching.

This made me sad but not in the sense one might think. This made me sad because having watched my mother suffer with cancer, I wished she could have gotten the 'happy ending' yours got here. Beautifully done.

*does not know what to say*Thank you for reading this story although it made you sad; thank you for leaving a review and letting me know about it.
