Such powerful words. I went from laughing at Hermione's sarcasm about Snape to tears welling up when I read the "equals" paragraph.Hermione "making that adjustment" was a wonderful moment.. Those moments make this sad tale very readable.Interesting revelation into Severus' brain.

LOL!Who knew Severus could be so charming and funny?<i>He slowed for her, she sped up for him, and they found their stride. Together.</i>Best lines in the chapter! Although the part where they are cleaning in unison was great, too.

I love how everyone's characters are starting to come out. I enjoy the way you are allowing them to grow close, starting to push each other's buttons and relax together.

This is absolutely stunning! The phrase 'forced marriage' brings to mind so many cliches of the pairing, but this is amazing in its own horrifying way. The feelings of the characters in this chapter simply shine, even in their darkness. I love the moment they drop the titles for each other. I can't wait to read more!

Rosie would do a good replacement mother for Hermione. I think she really need someone to talk to and to seek advices from.

Poor Hermione -- she is young -- maybe Severus should get her really relaxed, either with a potion or a glass or two of wine so she will let herself go. He should just ravish her until she loses control.

Wow, that was some emotional chapter. Hopefully at some point Hermione will tell Severus what is bothering her. Course I can also see Severus's side too, he feels just as frustrated not knowing how to react to things she says. I look forward to the next chapter keep up the great work!

It is no wonder they are over-reacting with each other. They have watched all their friends and colleagues die, then had to rebuild the school with new, unfamiliar staff etc. Add a new, rushed marraige on top of it all and the stress must be horrendous. No-one could expect the sex to be perfect with that sort of environment! Hopefully they will get themselves sorted soon, but I think in view of the situation you have portrayed, and their respective backgrounds, that their interactions so far are fairly realistic. :)

I'm glad that Rosie is like a mother figure to Severus. I forgot about you saying what her age was. Oops! Severus started out talking to Hermione, but he let his snarkiness through, and completely bulloxed it up. Hermione isn't going to be open with him now, out of fear of another outburst. He needs to learn how to talk to her, and not down to her. I think Hermione needs to pay another visit to Rosie; or reverse. But either way, Rosie should have a talk with Hermione. I think a woman-woman chat is just what she needs to better understand her bodys' reactions. She never had that guidance, and she's scared.

Oh! That made me cry! I know Severus is sensitive to being hurt, but good gods, he's older and assumedly more experienced, than Hermione. I'm sure that there are a lot of couples that never have any trouble getting it right... but of the other’s, pretending there isn't something wrong will only ruin the intimacy they share.
In the part where Rosie says to Sev that he is like a son to her … I thought you had written in a previous chapter that they went to school together. At the most, they would only be 7 years apart in their ages, or they could be year-mates. That’s a little close in age for mothering. Or did I remember that wrong?

She was a seventh-year when he was a first-year. She just felt a mothering connection with him. Sometimes that happens with older girls and younger boys, they just bring out the maternal instinct in them. She only feels a motherly love for Severus, that's all.Livvy

I know Severus heard what Rosie told him, cautioning him "You are a husband, Severus. I trust you to be smart enough to understand what that word means!” I know that Severus means to help his wife. Rosie "always had a way to understand and see past the immediacy of the problem. He would take her words to heart." But when he was faced with a situation that he, as a man, could not relate to, he screwed up big time. What he said was, “I know what this is about! Do not concern yourself, Madam. I shall not bring my affections where they aren’t wanted. You can keep your prudish ways, wife. I won’t touch you again!”But what Hermione heard was, "You are not worth the trouble. There is something terribly wrong with you, so I will find myself a witch who wants me to make love to her."What a freaking mess! If both of them can calm down enough to realize that: (1) Hermione is embarrassed to death by what she thinks is some gross dysfunction on her part, and (2) Severus can try to remember back to his own youth and the insecurities he felt, then (3) they will realize that they are both OK and can come to together as a man and a woman and enjoy some of the bliss they both want. Both need to be a little more fearless, and a lot more honest with what each of them is feeling, and what each is afraid of.Great writing, Livvy!Beth

Oh my it really has hit the fan this time. Now Hermione will really think he will be cheating on her. If she even sees some one flirting with him it will really send her over the edgeand into a very bad place. He realy needs to sit down and talk to her with out turning it personal. He could also ask Rosie for advice because she will give him the right advice Another great chapter , looking forward to the next chapter

What a disapointment for both of them! Severus will have to learn some things can't be dealt with a heavy hand. Surely some potions are delicate and must be handled carefully. If he can learn to apply the same patience with his wife, who is young and confused, things will be better for both of them.
