I'm supposed to be on SSHG withdrawal because of school, but it really is quite hard to do when excellent new stories and authors pop up quite regularly on top of addicting WIPs.
The angst introduced in this chapter is wonderful. I've always wondered how a "near-adultery" would be dealt with between SSHG. Miranda is a great foil for Hermione's happy ending with Severus.
He really cocked things up by going at it with Miranda even after the curse (and not just in a one-off for the road kind of thing too, the entire weekend!). He's rationalizing himself out of his guilt, but I hope Hermione will call him on it.
She has every right to torture him, and I look forward to how you'll have him serve his penance. Even though they weren't officially in a relationship, I just think Hermione will have trust issues with him for quite a bit and he has ways to go to win her over.

Thanks for the great review! I am trying to steer away from too much angst, although I suppose what constitutes 'angst' is a matter of interpretation. Certainly there is plenty of drama! Otherwise story = boring. I'm glad you're enjoying the story!

Ooh, do I dislike Miranda because she seems to threaten evil to our beloved traitor? or because I am jealous on behalf of our beloved know-it-all? Nice hint of conflict to come. Cautious Hermione . . . she knows about the Death Eater ties, too. I see murder and mayhem in my crystal ball. I like that Snape is unwinding a bit. and that he's hungry! and I can see the clothes that fit like a glove.

Fascinating. I've never seen reviews like this early in a story (at least I hope it's early) - it certainly ruffles feathers! Mine included, but I'll give the angst the benefit of the doubt for now...

Miranda is such a bitch! I hope something really terrible happens to her. I wish that Severus didn't give in to her demands to have sex all weekend. I understand the first time, since it was a compulsion, but the other times were not necessary.I wonder whether Hermione is going to find out, and if so, what she's going to do about it. I hope she gives both Severus and Miranda a whole lot of trouble. I'm still furious.

At first, I was upset with Severus. I held nothing against him for the compulsion of the spell she cast at him. Then he went with her to her rooms and then started kissing her fingers and moved on to more sex {even as he was wondering what/why he was doing it!} I have to wonder if she didn't cast something else at Severus that has instilled a compulsion to continue to be sexually interested in Miranda following the Lassi requiescamus. Plus, there was that spell she cast at Draco. With him feeling ill, there was little chance of Draco looking for Severus after the Dueling Club.
Very interesting, having the angst coming from a woman. Your Miranda is a worthy opponent. She’d have made a great Death Eater! It makes me wonder if there wasn’t more to her marriage break-up than she mentioned.

Auughh! I feel as if I've been punched in the gut. Men... Women! Severus is really being a jerk. I mean, I understand he was cursed the first time, but he's already made out with Hermione and now he's going at it with Miranda, who is really sneaky and unscrupulous.

No, no, no, I hate Miranda and Severus! What have they done! Hermione will know something had happened, Miranda will let it slip. Did Miranda know nothing of Severus's relationship with Hermione? Why didn't Hermione let Severus know that even if she lacked time, she was with him? And Severus hadn't let Hermione know he waited for a sign from her either! Let Hermione make him pay for his treachery, for I see it like that. Now, I have to go read some fluff to calm myself down.

I am a bit sad, I have enjoyed this story, but I will leave it now. I have been reading it because I thougth it was a HG/SS story. As far as I can see, it is not and while I could have enjoyed it if I had liked the caracter Miranda and it was obvious that there was someone else for Hermione, at the moment I can't see that. I don't like Miranda and I don't like this Severus. Hermione is my favourite caracter in the HP-fandom so this story is just no longer so interesting. I am not saying that I think your story is bad, it is very well written, it has just shown to be something else than I thougth it would be, and I admit to be dissepointed, and I admit that if I had known I wouldn't have started reading it. Just as I don't read any stories where Ron is one of the main characters or Harry and Ginny for that matter, they just don't interest me enough to spend time on them. I know there were no promises between Severus and Hermione, but they had started something, but nothing important enough for him to keep his pants on in reagards to other women. The first encounter could be blamed on the curse, but the rest can not be blamed on anyone else than Severus. No honourable man with serious interest in one woman would do what Severus have done, and I like "my" Severus to be honourable. Snarky and harsh, but honourable and true to Hermione. On the other side, you had him stop things from going any further between him and Hermione (at least you spared her some humiliation) while he couldn't get his trousers off fast enough for Miranda so it migth just be that this was the pairing you aimed for and the plot you intended. That would be absolutely OK, it is your story. You write well, and should absolutely continue do so and I will be looking for other stories written by you (with pairings I like of course:-))

This is a great story! I was reading chapter 2 and got an emergency call and now, after dealing with it for a good while, came to read some more so I could relax with a good cyber-book before finally getting some sleep. Thanks for this fascinating tale.

With Miranda - oh no no no no no you didn't. Ewww - I so do not like her and to think of the make out sessions that he had with Hermione and now he is rutting Miranda. Then telling Draco that Hermione is a friend. One Miranda would not make 1/50 of Hermione. I just so do not believe that he did this and now he is acting like a fool. Cannot wait to see what happens next.

I am going to attribute my reaction to this chapter to your skill as an author as opposed to my losing my grip on reality. Miranda's hex during the duel and Snape's reaction to it only made me dislike Miranda more, but Snape going to her after the hex was resolved brought out the same emotions in me that I think Hermione would feel if she had read what had happened. Visceral feelings of sadness, betrayal, confusion, and anger. It left me wondering what the hell happened to Snape's original and correct sense of wariness regarding Miranda, and how much pain and agnst the characters and I would have to go through for this to be resolved one way or another. I also made me want to just kill Miranda's character and get it over with. I don't know whether to rate this story with 5 stars because it has drawn out such emotions in me or rate it with 1/2 star because it has drawn out such emotions in me. :-) I am going to settle for 4 1/2 so I can deduct a 1/2 star for my pain and suffering. :-)
