Reviews for Second Life
Dear Lariope,It took some days to digest that this story which was a highlight over months is now finished with a tender and not a spectacular ending that fits to your story and characters. You did a great job to write about believable persons with their own obstacles to live the life they would have wished or theiy would have never dared to wish and cope with all the difficulties life presents. Usually I seldom read a story that is not finished yet but yours made me addicted from the beginning. So thank you. And I hope to encounter you soon on this page againmany hugs

Dear Oneira,Thank you so much for this. It's taking me some time to absorb the fact that it is over, as well. It's been a long journey, and harder than anything maybe that I've ever done, but worth every moment, and mostly because I've had such amaazing support--your reviews have meant a lot to me. I'm so glad you picked up Second Life, and gladder that you liked it. Thank you so much. All my loveLariope

Second Life was such a beautifully written fic. At the beginning I felt somewhat that Snape and Hermione were too comfortable with each other, too fast, but this is probably my own opinion and in any case, it worked wonderfully in this story. This fic was really really clever. I haven't read Deathly Hallows recently and can't remember all the plot details so clearly, but I an utterly in awe at the way you've twisted canon and fitted in SS/HG into it. You've given a new dimension to so many things in canon - I particularly loved everything about the time the Trio were on the run. Your attention to detail was really superb. The quality of the writing is amazing here too. I like the style you have - its very suited to the action/drama quality of Second Life. Your style isn't so much lyrical or poetic here but it never sacrifices on emotion and intensity and detail. You really brought across the emotional arcs of the characters beautifully - this to me can make or break a fic. It was wonderful to see the relationship between Snape and Hermione evolve - and not forgetting the relationships between the other characters - I really liked Harry's explanation of Ron's jealousy on the run - added a new dimension to the scene. I've just spent the entire day (!) doing nothing but reading Second Life, and these are the details which stand out most for me. I'm sure I'll reread it again - this is a masterpiece of the SS/HG genre. Brilliant!

Ilsa, It's amazing to hear from someone who has read it all at once. It began as one unit for me, and grew so long that I began to think of it serially, to respond to each chapter differently, and I wish I had your perspective! I know what you mean about the beginning, and I think, looking back, that I may even agree with you, but it's hard for me to step away from it enough to really be able to look at it clearly. I am a different writer than the one who began this story back in January. Thank you so much for your comments on my writing. That means a lot to me. That you chose Ron's motivation to comment on makes me thrilled. I was so frightened of that part--so afraid as I wrote it that no one would want to come with me on that, given the ship and the general sentiments toward Ron!Thank you very much for this thoughtful and lovely review, and thank you for reading. I'm so glad you liked it. Lariope

I just was disconnected, so maybe the first review got to you, maybe not.Anyway, this was the chapter I was hoping for in my last letter. This was the hope I was looking for. Thank you so much for returning my ability to hope for MORE, and thank you for your kind response before. Thanks again for sharing.

Damn. This just keeps getting better and better! I'm reading a few chapters each night and you are SO tempting me to stay up and read all night. I'd be tired as hell and totally worthless at work, so I'm going to have to force myself away from the computer. But damn. This is so f*ing good!!

I can't believe its over. I mean seriously... this has been an amazing journey and I'm just in awe of the total amazing-ness that is Second Life. I'm just looking at the page of Chapter 48 thinking... it's over. I can't help but wonder about a few things that were left hangin out, but at the same time I'm really glad you didn't drag out the ending. <sigh> (What I'm trying to say is that I'm wondering if they find her parents and are able to reverse the memory blocky stuff) Anyways, Thank you so much for sticking with this story and keeping it moving and just doing an outstanding job. I look foreward to more great things from you in the future. Much Love ~ Karen Lyn

Brena Marie, thank you so much. I know you are wondering about Australia. I think the reason that I chose to end it before then, is that I wanted SL to have an ending. I wanted it to encompass the war, and then let them live their lives. I'm afraid if I had gone on too much longer, the story would have lost it's tension and become, "Everything That Ever Happened to Snape and Hermione." LOL!But you know in your heart what happened after, and far be it from me to tell you differently (unlike JKR! lol)Thank you for all your reviews and support. I really appreciate it. And thank you for reading! All my loveLariope

I am happily surprised. This is the first piece of Harry Potter fanfiction I have ever read, and I am having a great deal of fun! Thank you very much for an excellent introduction (though you may have spoiled every story in the future since they probably won't hold up to yours!) And by the by,I thought I should let you know that we are acquainted in real life.Hope to see you at the pub,and can't wait to read the rest:Ali Wallace

Good gracious, Ali, my heart just stopped. When you wrote, "Hope to see you at the pub," I thought: WHO knows?? Who KNOWS???? but it's you, so that's ok. :) I'm glad you're enjoying it. Please do not tell anyone about chapter 3/4. :)Thanks for reading! :)
Response from Atanvarne (Reviewer)
I thought you might have that reaction. But hey, I used to draw my own comic books... so we are all among friends/geeks here. :)Consider my lips sealed.

Thank you so much, Kimjo2. It's terrifying to write an ending to a fic this long, so I'm over the moon that you found it satisfying and fitting. *squishes you*Thank you for reading!

I just started reading this recently, and I would've reviewed long ago, but I keep wanting to get on to the next chapter! *grin* I am enjoying the story a great deal, and it is an interesting take on things, the way it follows the unseen background of canon, in spite of being AU as well, and blended quite well I might add. I find it well-written and engaging, and I look forward to the rest. Thank you for the oh-so-pleasant distraction from an otherwise boring day!

I guess your going to notice that all these reviews are on the same day around the sametime. well if you didn't then I'm telling on myself....This was me last night Not writing but reading! I could not help it, I got so caught up in your amazing story that I could not get away even to write a reveiw on this brilliant fic! (Shame on me!) But... I inhaled the first 15 chapters up until I started nodding off and realizing that the words were blurring and my eyes were about to pop out of my head! Please dont' take offense but its like a horrific train wreck that you just can't look away from. I'm not saying its a wreck mind you I just cant think of an anology to compare right now. Love it! addicted to it and will promise to be better about leaving the review you so richly deserve. If there is one thing that gratifies the little SSHG shipper in me, it is to read a well-written, tightly wrapped cognizant story that explores their plausible relationship, without referral to overwrought cliches and teenybopper plotholes.
It isn't an exaggeration to say that this is one of the best fics I've had the pleasure of reading recently. Thank you for all the time that you've spent writing and planning - it has sincerely brightened up my day.

What a wonderful story! I'm so glad I didn't find it until it was complete - I would have been miserable having to wait for each chapter... I'm not good at putting my appreciation for such a work of art into words (that's why I'm just a reader, not a writer) - but I can echo what many other reviewers have said. Wonderful characters - I really feel as if I know them and want to keep up with them in the future!Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

So they will begin their married life together from here on out and put the past behind them. Second Life has been a great reinterpretation of the HP story. JKR should be jealous. A very clever written piece.

Thank you for offering such a gem of a gift. The depth of your characters and plot, as well as your immense attention to detail, are very telling with regard to the amount of effort you put into Second Life. The reader is left with emotions similar to those of the protagonists: bittersweet relief, gratitude, and the small, rekindled hope of a better future for these selfless characters. Once again, thank you.

Oh Lariope this is perfect. Thank you so much for sharing this. This is hands down the best fanfiction I have ever read. What a perfect lovely ending for our duo, the true start of a second life, one with hope and promises for the future. Where they go from here is not as important as their realization that they will do it together, unwaiveringly. Bravo, bravo. I want to print this story out and read it on paper, properly. Thank you once again for sharing your creativity and immense talent with us all.
