Hermione is forced to lead a double life when she agrees to Dumbledore's plan to protect Professor Snape. Inspired by the Marriage Law. Warning for student/teacher relationship, though Hermione is of age.

Reviews for Second Life
I don't even know where to begin. I've been reading this story religiously for a few weeks now. I rushed through the last 10 or so chapters tonight and now I feel so empty. Terrific take on the final book- I'm soooooo tempted to say I prefer it over the actual 7th bk. I can't get over how complex the plot turned out to be and then on top of that the characterizations were spectacular. I am heartbroken over the end and so hopeful for better days to come. You've truly invested yourself, and therefore me, into their lives in a way that I've only rarely seen before (fanfiction or fiction). Terrific.

, I'm so touched and honored by your review. Thank you so much; I'm so glad you liked it. But more so, I am glad you felt invested in Snape and Hermione. That means so much to me.

This was just... amazing. It was a professional-grade (dare I say, better than JKR herself, since she treated my favourite characters so shabbily) re-write of a story that desperately needed it. Is it strange when I say that all I know of the Deathly Hallows came not from the book itself but from this? The clarifications were needed, but I could never bring myself to reread a book that had slaughtered Snape like carrion on the floor of the Shrieking Shack. I adored your take on Severus and Hermione; they are both all I could wish for. Snape is a little broken but indomitable for all that, and I've noticed in other fics that Hermione is somehow more perfect, saintly, even, to make up for Snape's general maleficence. Not so with Second Life. Hermione is not insufferably perfect, and I was terribly fond of her righteous anger with Dumbledore over his treatment of Snape.Your characterization is everything I could have wished, and if the plot was lacking in places (the camping!) it's what you started with, not what you wrote.Thank you for sharing your amazing literary skills with the rest of us. I hope you will continue to write.

. I couldn't have asked for a lovelier review. I'm so happy that you liked the characterizations of Severus and Hermione. Reality was what I wanted most, which is odd considering that it's a fantasy world, but there you have it. I love them both, flaws and all, and I'm very glad that you did too.The poor, maligned camping! I know what you mean about being unable to reread DH (unfortunately, I have practically memorized it at this point) but the camping seems different to me every time I read it. :)Again, thank you. I'm very touched by your words.

Wow... I really don't know what to say besides just... wow. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to read something so well-thought out, well-written, insightful and intelligent. This was a most delightful way to spend my weekend, and I am so thrilled that I stumbled upon this brilliant story. I would say more, but I think I would just embarrass myself with blubbering and gushing rambles and praises that would probably become quite tedious. I will only say that I hope you don't confine this gift you have for writing to the realm of fan fiction, and trouble you with a request that when you publish your first novel you send me the link to purchase it.
I wish you nothing but luck with your writing, although it is quite plainly apparent that you needn't any luck at all. Not everyone can write as you write, and I pray you treasure it and not let it go to waste. In our world today we need such literary talents as yours to rescue us from the mindless drivel that mainly fills the shelves of our bookstores and the heads of our youths.
It has been an honour to read your story, and you can trust that I shall not forget it.
Be strong, speak true, and above all else, write from the soul and not the mind.
~Mandi~

*grins widely* I guess I can't say a thing the others haven't said before me. So I won't even try. You know how very, very excellent your story is. I have said so before and I will try not to repeat myself. Just read a chapter of another story and had to shake my head again and again because Hermione was so very OOC I barely recognised her. You did a perfect job, dear. From beginning to end, with each chapter, with each line. I laughed and I cried and I couldn't wait for your next update. BTW, how about an Epilogue?? *winks suspiciously*Now I wait either for your next fanfiction story or for the news that you published it in the real world. Your talent definitely cries for the crisp pages of a real book.Hugs, dear. As always.

Excellent, excellent story! I could hardly step away from it- completely sucked in. I love your characterizations throughout, they follow realistically from the deviation point, which is an accomplishment in itself, then toss the great plot in on top of that...! I really enjoyed this, thank you for writing it :)

What a beautiful story, Lariope! I'm so sad that there will be no more new updates to look forward to, but this story will stay on my favorites list to be reread often. I don't know what will happen to this fandom in the future, but this is truly one of the classics of SSHG stories. It is just so beautifully written and so very, very well done! Thank you for sharing your gift with us readers.

My darling Lariope,I am near to tears as I write this review (your 101st for this finale, did you know?). Could you have written a more beautiful non-ending to this journey that Severus and Hermione have traveled? And, I call it a non-ending because, though you have stilled your quill, their story is far from finished. To imagine the road that still lay before them, and to look back on the one that lay behind them... it is breath-taking.I would beg for more, but this part of their journey is complete. They have found one another, accepted one another, and, finally, loved one another fully. What more could I, as a reader, possibly hope for? I can only hope that your quill will not rest for too long before you begin writing another journey, because it is something you are meant to do.Thank the Muses for gifting you with such a wonderful story and for sticking with you throughout the writing process so that we greedy readers did not have to wait long between updates. And thank you for having the determination to see it through and sharing it with us all. You are amazing.Always,

,I'm so happy that you felt the ending was not an ending, but an appropriate stopping place. That touches me enormously. Thank you for reading, and for reviewing, and for being my friend.xoxoxoLariope

Aww, I'm so touched that that little token meant so much to you! (And, really, that chapter (and this whole story!) deserved it and so much more!)It's common for a reader to beg for more, more, more, but I do truly feel like this was an appropriate stopping place. This story is, honestly, something I could see myself (once I have the supplies and such) printing out and binding to put on my bookshelf along with my other Harry Potter books to say, this is how Severus and Hermione's story should have gone. There are few fanfics that have inspired that feeling in me.Thank you for writing and sharing! And, of course I've reviewed, how could I not?? And, of course I'm your friend (even though I don't comment much, and we don't really talk much.... we should rectify that!)*hugs*

There should be 100 reviews for this chapter. I've been rereading over the last few days after I finish my chores.I really liked how Minerva said that what Albus did to Severus wasn't decent. That is so in character for her.Thank you for not giving them a sparkly jolly recovery from everything that has happened to them. I like hopeful. Hopeful is good!

Dearest Meg,I feel like I'm not eloquent enough to tell you how much Second Life has meant to me. Never did I dream that I would actually get a chance to be involved with your story when I jokingly said I could be your "pseudo-beta"! I will never be able to thank you enough for sharing Second Life with me. It's been a real pleasure and privilege to have the chance to experience the "behind the scenes"stuff.Your story was a true gift! Second Life brought me so much more than an amazing read; It inspired me to draw (other things than flowers!) and to write (still working on this!). And more importantly, Second Life brought me YOU. A very special friend with a kind heart, keen mind and an emotional intelligence we could all learn from. I love you very much!Sandiexoxo

You've helped me grow enormously throughout this story, and you've given me the gift of your insight, and your friendship, and your support, and I will never be done saying thank you.Thank you for all the beautiful artwork, for giving me the experience of seeing my story in someone else's mind for the very first time. Thank you for calming me when I was afraid, cheering for me when I was hating myself, and just being there every step of the way.I love you very much,Meg

I feel awful, as this is the first review I've left for the entire story... But it was so wonderful that I was racing to my laptop between college courses to read until the last possible instant when I had to leave for another class! This story was fabulous... Dearest Meg,I loved this chapter with all of my heart. I can't tell you what it meant to me to have the chance to chat with you on the phone about the struggles you were having with this chapter. As our conversation progressed and you explained to me what was going on in your head, your voice became more animated and excited... I could tell the characters (especially Snape!) were 'talking' to you again. It was a lovely and touching process for me to witness! Thank you for sharing it with me!I loved the end product. I was so excited that you decided to write it in two chapters and I was awed by your brilliant use of Kingsley's community service sentence! Not only are you a gifted writer.... you are a genius as well!Love you munchly my friend!Sandiexoxo

This was a beautiful story! I am very sad that it is over, but you satisfied this reader with the ending. (far more so thatn DH) The only thing I really found missing was a conversation between Harry and Dumbledore, but they were not the focus of your tale so it is understandable.
