Hermione is forced to lead a double life when she agrees to Dumbledore's plan to protect Professor Snape. Inspired by the Marriage Law. Warning for student/teacher relationship, though Hermione is of age.

Reviews for Second Life
"You must appear to abhor what you hold most dear" - Snape's dilemma exactly! and she picked up on it immediately!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm glad that part struck you. Hermione is a quick one. :)
I love reading other people's ideas about spells and other details of the Wizarding world. I am enjoying this story very much; thank you for writing it.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I love magical invention, too. You'll see a bit more of it in the coming chapters. I'm glad you like the story. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Oh I would have loved to see this chapter in the movie - to see them transforming - that would have been wonderful - great chapter and cannot wait for more
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! And I know what you mean. I see the story so clearly in my head as I write it--I wish I could see it visually as well, sometimes.
What a wonderful story. Here on a Live Journal rec, and I'm kind of new to this archive-- will I get some kind of notification when you update, as with ffnet?
I really like how well you've captured the voices here, and slotted these events into canon. Also love how you're handling the progression of the relationship, and how well you dealt with the consummation scene-- hot, but sensitive to the situation and the people involved and how uncomfortable it must be for them both given their history and Hermione's virginity.
I look forward to more. Well done indeed.

Thank you! I'm really glad you're here and enjoying the story. If you bookmark the story, PP will send you notification when it updates.
The new spells are exciting, but perhaps he should teach Hermione an aging charm.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
For his own peace of mind, you mean? Yes, I suppose so. :) Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Snape is really sunk, isn't he? Dumbledore is amazingly cruel, I believe.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Dumbledore doesn't cover himself with glory in this story, it's true. But I think Snape will learn to circumvent him eventually. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
I love how Hermioen stood up to him. I was very glad to see Snape explain the double-blind and the reasons behind it. Even if he can't give an explanation for what happened, Hermione is mature enough to understand his reasons for not giving the explanation. That will go a long way toward getting her to truly trust him.
And I am so glad he cancelled the youth disguise.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I do think Hermione came into her own a bit in this chapter.
Nifty, snarky lessons. I can see why Snape didn't want Hermione too young. The sooner she can pick up more Slytherin-style subtlety, the safer they'll both be.
Good thing Hermione shook Harry off; he's going too far, friendship or no. He has no business physically manhandling her like that. Git doesn't own her.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Git doesn't own her, indeed. Thanks for your review!
There's a lot of creepiness-by-implication in the scenes between Dumbledore and Snape, a very nicely done portrait of manipulator and manipulated. The scene with the Charms was a great ending -- I loved the kicker supplied by Snape's reaction to Hermione's Juvenis charm.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!
I love this chapter. I love how you are able to particularly capture the characterizations of both Snape and Hermione so closely and effectively. I love, love, love, LOVE the "Dissimulo Juvenis" spell! I wonder how fun that spell would be, if Snape used it to disguise himself to talk to Hermione in the corridors of the castle or something such as that... Hermione could wave him off as just a random Ravenclaw if asked by Ron or Harry, and he'd have the ability to speak with her without further pushing a rift between her and Harry..
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm so glad you're enjoying it.
I wonder how young Hermione looked when she used the Dissimulo Juvenis spell. I look forward to their next lessons. I don't know why Harry was so upset with Hermione when it was Snape who asked her to dance. Did he really expect her to refuse? Perhaps Harry suspects that Hermione has a crush on Severus or something.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
In my mind, it subtracts a percentage of your age. I saw Hermione as looking about 9 or so. Thanks for reading and reviewing! I always appreciate your thoughts.
Another great chapter. I look forward to seeing their relationship continue to evolve.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I hope you continue to enjoy it.
Ah, what a lovely chapter. Stolen glances, unrecognized desires, and lessons with Severus. Harry and Ron seriously need to pull their heads out of their arses; it's not like Hermione wanted to dance with Severus (at least, not that she'll admit). Wonderful chapter, can't wait for more!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I really appreciate it.
I LOVE you! And your story. This is so, so very good. Loved the dancing scene. Great job!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Well, I love you right back. Thank you!!
I think that the reason he cancelled the youth charm so quickly was not because he did not need to "see his child bride as a child" but because it made him realize that she was a child no more. Well done again....please can't I have the extra chapters? Irish
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
email me, Irish, my dear. :) I'm rather easily swayed. Thanks for reviewing!
Harry is rather perceptive. Anyway, that was a fun chapter. I can't even imagine all the things Hermione went through, and then the fact that she was married? I can't wait for the next chapter.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks for reading and reviewing. More to come quite soon!
How charming it is when you repeat everything I say.
Oh yes, professor Snape. Your sarcasm gets you everywhere (with me at least!)
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Secretly, that is my favorite line. I'm glad you enjoyed it, too!!
This is a great fic...One of the best I've seen in a while...Keep up the good work!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!!
I liked how you incorporated the book and your story - a behind the scenes scene...I do hope that Severus softens to her a little because he is generally pretty cold to her. She did afterall nurse him back to health and is his wife.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Don't worry--the holidays are coming. :)
Thank you for reading and reviewing!
Wow I want captain Severus in my boat RIGHT NOW. Please. This is absolutely amazing.

I love this...I love how you've taken canon and entwined it with your story. I dread to think what the outcome will be, but I'm reeled in. This is the first story I've read in quite some time that I am excited about and am genuinely looking forward to the next update
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)

It seems that the more Severus needs someone, the more he pushes her away. When will he learn to accept tenderness?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I think you are right about Severus. Hermione has a big job to do. Thank you for the review!

I like the way you are bringing Canon themes into your story. It makes for very enjoyable reading.
Clever Hermione to bring Lavender into the mix.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I've always liked my AU very canon. Though sometimes it makes life difficult!
