Grape Forever!
Reviews for Second Life
So, so, so very good! How you are able to write the depth of their emotions without spelling it out is wonderful. I need to find a tissue now.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much. I'm really touched that you liked it.
How on earth can he give her that potion and then demand he give it to no one else. I have no doubt in my mind how she will eventually use it.I can only wonder if her faith and love for her husband will allow her to get through the suspicion that will happen after Dumbledore's death.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Yes, I haven't been very good at hiding that...:)
Dumbledore's death is nearly upon us, so her faith will be tested quickly. I hope you continue to enjoy it!
You are writing some really interesting conversations between these two! And it's quite nice that she's the one who keeps him on track in class, that his impulse is to be a bit nicer to her than he needs to be in order to maintain his cover (even apologizing to her in private--I think a Snape who is somewhat more decent in private is quite interesting).
She's a clever little witch, too--positively Slytherin in her ability to figure out a cover story that will explain where she's been and bore the boys into not asking details and in her ability to maneuver Lavender into place, as well. I am enjoying this immensely!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks--I'm so glad that you're enjoying it!
He is one hell of a teacher. And he knows better than she just what tonight's lesson was. This is SO well done!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! And I agree, he's quite a...ahem...professor.
This is tender and sweet and quite beautiful (and, yes, very hot, as well)--he makes sure she understands what has happened (and she actually understands even better than he thinks she does, I gather) and then does his honorable best to be sure she gets as much out of the experience as possible. And how wonderful that he is finding that there is much more to this than he expected, as well. Lots of heartache ahead, but what a strong foundation for what is to come!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm so glad you're reading! Thank you for this lovely review.
Ohhh. That Vita Secundus potion is going to come in handy, isn't it?
A lovely chapter. And whether this happens again or not (not for a longer while, I guess, from the way they slipped back to the student/teacher roles!), I'm so glad Severus will have the knowledge that there is someone who genuinely cares. Yes, they both enjoyed the wedding night, but that was forced - this time it was out of affection.
Hee. I kept worrying Harry would look at his map and find them together!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
A handy potion, indeed. ;)
Thank you, and also thank you for knowing that it will be a long while befoe this happens again.
In this fic, teacher's chambers don't show up on the Marauder's Map. That's why she was able to nurse him there in Chapter 6. ;)
So sad, but incredibly well written. Thank you so much for sharing.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!
This is really wonderful and wonderfully structured--keeps them both very much in character and really fascinating! Albus manages to use their own strongest traits to maneuver them into position (manipulative fellow that he is!). Moody's place in this is also fascinating--and it's interesting that only Snape seems concerned with the morality of what they are asking her to do.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
Now to see how well Hermione follows directions. Only Harry gets the Vita Secundus? Maybe...
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
We've got a long road before we get there. ;) But yes, it will be interesting to see how all that plays out.
A really interesting (and well written!) take on the predicament that Severus finds himself in with the distinct possibility of Dumbledore dying and leaving him without a witness to his own good works. I like very much how you are using canon to craft such an intriguing tale!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I was horrified that canon had made no provisions for Snape had he lived. Why would he have agreed to such a thing without a backup plan? So I made one. :)
I don't think I've ever read such a sweet scene of love-making that was, simultaneously, so sad, because of the overlay of what is to come. Very masterful---and please, have mercy on this devotee of happy endings!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm so glad to hear that it was both sweet and sad. And I believe in happy endings, too.
Response from countrymouse (Reviewer)
In thinking over where I "guess" you're going with this, I became discouraged when I thought, you _could_, if you so wished, keep this completely canon-compliant with DH. It was therefore with joy that I went back & checked, and read that it's an "EWE" story. So I'm looking forward to finding out how the "happy ending" will come about here! :-)
The bedroom scene was so sensual - they could not seem to get enough of each other - the last time for either of them to be free and to be themselves with each other - I cannot wait to see where the story ends and hopefully you will give them the second life they both so richly deserve. Good chapter.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! We've got so long to go until this story ends--I really hope you will bear with me, as we proceed into (correct the mistakes of) DH. heh.
Bah - stupid Dumbledore. This chapter was so wonderful and I dread them having to be torn apart.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I know. Let's all just give Dumbledore a good kick. I'd feel better! :) Thank you for the lovely review.
God, it makes me want to cry! This waiting is horrible, knowing that they're about to be ripped apart. I honestly can't wait for you to kill off that bastard Dumbledore!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm sorry that it felt so torturous! I really did mean to just write a nice love scene. But you won't have to wait too much longer for the death of the meddling old fool...
Oh, my... *fans self* That was quite a chapter--lemony and angsty at the same time. Looking forward to more.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
:) Lemony and angsty together is my favorite, so I'm very pleased. Thank you!
I hate Dumbledore! I hope Hermione uses the potion on Severus instead of Harry. The scene between the lovers was so poignant. What will happen after the deed is done? Will they be able to see each other as husband and wife?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
See, you've asked the question that makes me the happiest--not will he live, but what would happen if he did? Would they be able to reconcile their "plan" into a marriage? *hugs you*
Beautiful scenes. The rapport between them works so well because of the way you've let it evolve over the course of the story. And the ending's such a heartbreaker. (What an incredible contrast it makes to the tense and evasive maneuvering between Snape and Dumbledore that opens the chapter.)
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I really appreciate your comments.
Response from Elisabeth (Reviewer)
P.S. Of course I'm on pins and needles to see how Hermione is going to handle what's to come... and it just occurred to me that at another point in the future, both the witnesses to her marriage will be dead (or presumed dead, anyway). Talk about bearing a burden...
Beautiful and heartbreaking, and some of the best descriptions of psychological states in the 'ship. Thank you.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
That's a really lovely thing to say. Thank you so much.
*bends knee and begs*
Please don't make this too DH compliant, after all.
This was amazing, gorgeous, beautiful, sweet, tender, moving, and just . . . wow.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much for such a lovely review. I've already said this so much that even though it's a huge spoiler, I'll say it again for your peace of mind: I won't kill him. ;)
well written, write more!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks! I'm working on it. ;)
That was really hot, actually, and I totally dislike Dumbledore.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
A succinct summation of all I'd hoped for in this chapter. :) Thanks!!
A burgeonning love in a middle of a war is always beautiful, but often tragic one. I hpoe that will not be their cases.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I agree on both counts. Thanks for reading and reviewing :)
I liked the new potion you introduced, it seems like it will come in handy at some point. Now I start biting my nails! LOL
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
It does seem that way, doesn't it? I do love a good potion. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
That was so powerful and beautifully written. The sacrifices that they will both make for the good of their fellows are so well portrayed , thank you for this story!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much!
*deep breath* Wow. That was beautiful. There are no words to adequately describe just how amazing that was. Never before have I been so moved by a love-making scene. I had to stop reading about half way through because I was so moved by the beauty and sweet, innocent intimacy of it! Loved it! And once again, I can't wait for more!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm actually kind of crying right now.
