Hermione is forced to lead a double life when she agrees to Dumbledore's plan to protect Professor Snape. Inspired by the Marriage Law. Warning for student/teacher relationship, though Hermione is of age.

Reviews for Second Life
Wow this is more tangled than a spider's web! Draco and his responsability. Dumbledore and his "double-blind" "need to know" mentality. Not to mention the whole web between our two favorite characters. Now I don't know whether he was really angry or really afraid for her when she was overhearing all their plans.Probably a little bit of both? Can't wait to read more. Update soon!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I think both is a fair assessment. ;) I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. More to come quite soon!
Wow, things definitely went downhill. I'm wondering if he was reacting because he felt betrayed, or because he was afraid of what Draco might've done to her if he found her there. Or, more likely, he's starting to push her away so she'll hate him before he kills Dumbledore.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
All of the above? Thank you so much for reading and reviewing.
Whoa, he came down hard on her there at the end. And poor, confused, wanna-be-evil Draco. What a tangle!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
It is a tangle, isn't it? Well, they'll cut through the whole knot, soon enough, I guess. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
OooooooO! And I need MORE! Wonder what she thinks of Draco/Snape now? Not an easy thing to walk in the middle of. At least she got out without notice. (though, of course we knew that she would.) :D
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
You know, that's kind of the annoying part of writing alongside canon--you all always know what comes next! No matter how evil the cliffhanger, it's not really evil, now is it? :) Oh well.More shall come quite soon, and I thank you very much for your review!!
Good chapter - Severus was brutally cruel with his words to her in the end. You made Draco's cruelity even more "popping" as it were. You showed how in DH he could of done all those things because of his mind set at the time - good job.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad you believed in determined, Death Eater!Draco.
That was cool. I love the fact that Snape was frightened for her and is horrid to her.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks! I'm really glad that Snape shown through in all his Snape-yness. :)
wow that was tense!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
EEp! I know, sorry. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Fascination variation of he story around the HBP-book! I can imagine Herminoe wanting to know more like this very well. And the incident with Draco - well done, this is a great new chapter.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
This is getting better and better.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm so glad you think so. Thank you for your reviews!
Intense! What a thriller there at the end. I'm very much enjoying the missing scene portions of this story. You've kept it so logical and so in character. I find myself slotting your narrative away alongside canon like, "oh, okay, that was what was going on." So well done. Thanks!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much. I'm glad you feel it's standing up to canon. I, myself, am very much looking forward to getting away from the big canon scenes. heheh. I'm ready to be back in the territory of my own mind--it's much less daunting there! But thank you so much for reading and reviewing, and for your kind words that I cherish.
I've always wondered whether other people could use the Room of Requirement when someone else was already in there. I guess for Dumbledore's Army, knowing the purpose of the room was enough. Severus and Hermione should realize that whatever Draco was wanting was in that room, and so they should search out hints of his plan. However, they're quite distracted by each other and so will probably not do something that intelligent. Hopefully Severus's anger towards Hermione does not last very long.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Well, we know that, in HBP, Trelawney entered the room when Draco was in there, and I assumed that the reason that she could was that she was going into "the same room" as it had made itself for Draco--a place to hide things. Hermione isn't supposed to be searching out Draco's plan, but now that Snape knows where Draco is going, he might. One never knows. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
I really love how you are seamlessly inserting this story into the events of HBP. And making it way better!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Aw, thanks. I'm really glad the canon aspects are working for you!
Very sneaky of our snake to stop Draco before he actually uttered the name of who he is to kill.I feel for Hermione and can understand why she would want to be comforted by the man that she loves, but he is in no position to be able to offer her comfort. She does not realize how much turmoil his own soul is in at this moment. Well done as always! Irish
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you, my dear Irish. And well, he is the head of Slytherin.... :)
Ouch! I believe fanfiction is surpassing JKR in quality of writing and the actual story. You are doing a great job and have me hanging onto your words (I know, blasphomy).
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Blasphemy, indeed :) But very flattering blasphemy. And I thank you very much.
Dumbledore is such a weenie and I love how you're fitting your story into the plot of HBP...okay, I've said both those things before, but of course had to say them again.I really love your Snape. Last chapter my heart was just breaking for him...sacrificing his happiness for The Cause, of course if there wasn't a Cause, he wouldn't be with a student in the first place...a storyline I'm not comfortable with...but this fits. As for Hermione, she needs a smack, she just can't leave well enough alone, anyway, absolutely enjoying your story and look forward to the updates!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I want a button that says 'Dumbledore is such a weenie.' :) I'm glad that the story is working for you--and I'm very honored that you're reading despite your discomfort with the student/teacher relationship. Thank you so much for your review. More very soon!
I'm loving it so far! As someone else already mentioned, I really hope you don't kill off some of the same people that JKR did! This is great!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I won't. And I'm so glad you're enjoying it!
Getting much closer to Desdemona and Othello in the feel of the story, sort of. Still very enjoyable.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Oh, dear. :) Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Good, they are getting there at last. Like your progression, just enough to tease the senses without becoming cloying.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm glad the build is working for you.
Aha! Working at cross purposes to the same end. Very good.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!
Ack! Talk about really bad timing for Hermione. It's a good thing Draco's not as good at sensing her presence as Severus is. As potentially dangerous as the consequences of her nighttime stroll might have been, I do hope Severus isn't going to push her away completely again. If for nothing else, then because she does have things to discuss with him, regarding the upcoming year.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
After the other night? I don't think he could if he wanted to. :) But I agree, bad timing all around. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
How very Slytherin of you, my dear. Oh, one note for future reference it is Gwenog Jones, not Glenog.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
It certainly is, isn't it? Thanks for pointing that out.
Okay, I'm breathing again.What a terrific chapter!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm glad you're breathing! No asphixiation allowed! Thank you so much.
I can only say; Oh, how I love this story!!! I love the way you are giving us Hermiones view on what happened in HBP and probably DH. (I still kling to a little hope that you won't kill some of the characters JKR killed, like Fred, Remus and Tonks:-) I don't think I'll ever forgive her for killing them and letting the Malfoys getting off the hook as usual. That part of the book, along with that terribly written epilogue, ruined so much of what was supposed to be a great ending to a fantastic series of books. In my mind, if the first books had the same quality as book seven, JKR would never have been as popular as she is:-))I could rant and say that Severus shouldn't have been as harsh towards Hermione as he was, but I won't. He was harsh, and Hermione didn't intend to spy on them, but Severus was correct when it comes to the consequences it would have had if Draco had discovered Hermione. Update again soon, I always get into such a great mood when I see an update to this marvellous story!!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Oh, my dear. Thank you so much for your review as usual. If I could get away with sparing Fred, Remus and Tonks, I would. Fred in particular nearly ripped my heart out. We'll see how it plays. And I agree that the epilogue was beyond horrible. Beyond.
