Deathly Hallows Prompts 6 and 8.
6. The kids leave after Snape dies. He sits up and realizes he is a ghost. (I changed this to a portrait instead of a ghost.)
8. As Hermione, Ron, and Harry watch Snape die, Hermione is devastated because she has been secretly in love with him. (The prompt calls for Hermione to use a Time-Turner to go back and rescue Severus, but I wanted to comply with the book and see if I could write a story where Hermione develops a strong, loving friendship with the Severus Snape she meets as a portrait many years later.)
Time: After the Epilogue. Place: Hogwarts. Hermione is teaching at Hogwarts and is Deputy Headmistress to Minerva McGonagall. Her children, Rose and Hugo, live at Hogwarts with her; her husband Ron manages the All-England Quidditch League. When Minerva McGonagall dies, Hermione is appointed Headmistress and moves in to the Head’s office.

good update. love the idea of the net of support among the granger-potter-weasley family eventho i'm a dyed in the wool hg/ss 'shipper. and you portray it beautifully. thanks so much and i look forward to further developements.
The poor students to have to deal withthe death of a favourite Headmistress. I think Hermione is being very brave.
Good chapter, you seem to be laying ground work for the meat of the story.
Ron doesn't seem very considerate to his wife here.
A wonderful tribute to Minerva with the school. Well done!
Salazar's portrait didn't hang in the Headmaster's office - there was never metnion of him except as a founder? Still, he's a crotchety old coot isn't he?

Salazar is very crotchety, and I had to restrain him from taking over my story as a forum for pure-blood superiority. Thank Merlin for silencing spells:)

I like the easy banter between Draco and Hermione.

I remember that show, and am honored to have my story compared to it. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed my story, too:) Thank you so much.Warm regards,Fizzabella
more soon, its good. Will you bring Snape to life?
Response from fizzabella (Author of A Different Kind of Love Story)
Severus is waiting in his frame. The first several chapters of this story set the stage, so to speak; the last several focus on Severus and Hermione.

She gets along with Draco well
I like this idea so far
very good
Hmmm... Tolerably well? High praise indeed for Hermione Granger when it comes from Severus Snape.

AND to be praised ALONG WITH Draco Malfoy? Praising a Slytherin AND a Gryffindor in the same compliment? Who is this portrait and what has he done with Severus Snape? LOL:)

Short but sweet. A nice interlude to introduce that attitudes and actions and obnoxiousness of many of the portraits.
I just love how good of friends Draco and Hermione are. The easy camaraderie is such a joy to see.
Hermione as Headmistress...*I'm rolling it on my toungue...yes it's a good fit. Very believable.
Nice interlude.
This is really creative plot and story line wise. I'm really enjoying it.
loved the exchange between hermione and draco...sweet without being cloying and on character. thanks so much and i look forward to further updates.
These portraits do an awful lot of sleeping dont they?Waitasecond! Whats with the Granger-Weasley busines?? I thought she was just Granger. Sneaky author.
My favorite line of this chapter is: "Draco was immune to anything short of a punch in the nose from Hermione"Once again I must remark at how much I enjoy the gentle friendship that Hermione and Draco have formed. It is so nice to see them ease into adulthood and be mature. Thank you

I didn't know Draco and Hermione got along so well, till they started running away with the story.:)
I love it, too, though. Draco is cultured and intelligent, and I am finding he is a delightful collaborator, now that he is out from under the shadow of Voldemort, and has grown up a bit.

The interation between the two of them is lovely. I wonder what Hermione is going to do with all that stuff in the office.

Hermione's wondering, too:) But she's very clever and she turns it into an asset:)
