Deathly Hallows Prompts 6 and 8.
6. The kids leave after Snape dies. He sits up and realizes he is a ghost. (I changed this to a portrait instead of a ghost.)
8. As Hermione, Ron, and Harry watch Snape die, Hermione is devastated because she has been secretly in love with him. (The prompt calls for Hermione to use a Time-Turner to go back and rescue Severus, but I wanted to comply with the book and see if I could write a story where Hermione develops a strong, loving friendship with the Severus Snape she meets as a portrait many years later.)
Time: After the Epilogue. Place: Hogwarts. Hermione is teaching at Hogwarts and is Deputy Headmistress to Minerva McGonagall. Her children, Rose and Hugo, live at Hogwarts with her; her husband Ron manages the All-England Quidditch League. When Minerva McGonagall dies, Hermione is appointed Headmistress and moves in to the Head’s office.

Great chapter - I loved how Ginny teased Draco with the hex - it was funny in a scary kind of way.
Great chapter - I loved how you have the friends and family interacting to support one another. Harry always wanted a loving family and he has one now.
Good interaction - I would love to see them as portraits - I cannot wait for the movie to see Dumbledore's. It would make for a very interesting office.
Great chapter - loved the playfully interaction between Draco and Hermione. I can really say that with time and the war over that I can see them this way together.
Oh what a chapter - I am so glad that I started reading this story. It brought me to tears to read it - what a wonderful job you did with such a sad event. It is perfect.
Another fantastic chapter. I loved all the details the you are putting in - the story is so believable.
This kind of reminds me of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. The TV show, not the movie. I would watch it in reruns as a kid, and I loved it. They went off together at the end.

very nicely done, they have enough of an intellectual bond to keep them going for the meanwhile and who knows what will happen later, but I hope Hermione doesn't turn into a little old lady before she gets to meet him again LOL
That song Hermione quotes is one of my favorites, and it brought tears to my eyes to be used in this context.

oh, how beautifully you wrote this chapter (and all others, actually). but this one had me shedding tears along with hermione. i think well all hope our loved ones will be there to escort us. you expressed it so well. thank you

I think it is perfectly fitting that the two profess their love for each other, then get down to Potions business. Neither will deny feelings, nor do they focus only on those feelings. There are other aspects of their relationship that they embrace, like the intellectual stimulation. Another great chapter!
Another good chapter. I guess Hermione will have conversation at least in this romance. I can't believe this, but I'm hoping she dies soon so she can 'live' if that makes any sense.

Hadn't thought of that but I like both characters:) We'll see what my plot bunny comes up with. Severus is really really anxious over this entire "relationship" thing-and my Severus follows a simple rule: more anxious=more snarky:) He really really feels out of his depth with these feelings, which have built over quite a while, yet because they are based on quite ordinary day to day events, they snuck up on him. I hope that my writing portrays the conviction that, this long after the war, he has achieved enough inner peace to not need to lash out at anyone who makes him anxious any more. He and Harry could have been such good friends, and still been friends with Ron and Hermione too, if not for the House rivalry. If I have learned anything from the Harry potter books, it's not to judge anyone by the outer labels.-HBV
Oh. poor Severus and Hermione. It must be so hard to be in love with a person you can never be with or touch. I hope they find some way around this.

Narcissa visiting Lucius' frame, eh? Why does that make me wonder if portraits can have sex with each other...? Is it bad that this was the very first place my mind went when reading the end of the chapter?I'm not entirely surprised by Ron's infidelity. It happens a lot in Hermione/Not!Ron fics. I was pleasurably surprised by how it was handled calmly and sensibly and that Ron was taking responsibility for his actions and admitting up front that he had been an idiot. He should get some credit for that, I think. I find myself hoping that it actually works out for him and this Caroline woman, and that remains faithful to her. I sort of got the feeling that he will. (And yay Daphne, because I love nearly any story that includes her in some way that isn't her being a bitch (of which, thankfully, there are few, because Pansy tends to be the obvious choice for bitchy))
Very touching with the tribute to Minerva. Doesn't bode well for Hermione that Snape's portrait is being so vocal.
