Deathly Hallows Prompts 6 and 8.
6. The kids leave after Snape dies. He sits up and realizes he is a ghost. (I changed this to a portrait instead of a ghost.)
8. As Hermione, Ron, and Harry watch Snape die, Hermione is devastated because she has been secretly in love with him. (The prompt calls for Hermione to use a Time-Turner to go back and rescue Severus, but I wanted to comply with the book and see if I could write a story where Hermione develops a strong, loving friendship with the Severus Snape she meets as a portrait many years later.)
Time: After the Epilogue. Place: Hogwarts. Hermione is teaching at Hogwarts and is Deputy Headmistress to Minerva McGonagall. Her children, Rose and Hugo, live at Hogwarts with her; her husband Ron manages the All-England Quidditch League. When Minerva McGonagall dies, Hermione is appointed Headmistress and moves in to the Head’s office.

I LOVE to read, I LOVE to write, and am thrilled to be published here on The Petulant Poetess. I love the Harry Potter books because of my kids, and hope to get good enough to become an accredited beta reader at some point:)
Reviews for A Different Kind of Love Story
Interesting start to tell the story through letters sent between various folks.
AH poor Hermione - but she is holding up well. It's not liek it's unexpected, but it hurts all the same. I loved that Severus was so supportive. Another well done chapter.
Typical Ron. The moment he is out of sight of his wife, he starts sleeping around. Stupid prat.
I really wish Ron hadn't behaved that way, but I admire Hermione's restraint. Now she needs to sic the lawyer on him.
Loving Draco still, " your obedient servant" , now why is that hard to visualise?

My Draco learned A LOT from his father, whether he meant to or not. The chairman of the Hogwarts would also have a very proper secretary-maybe even a male clerk straight out of Dickens. He would sign it that way because it's proper and also because he knows Hermione knows him well enough to see the mischief in his eyes when he signs his letters that way.Thank you for the review and I am glad you are enjoying the story:) I am becoming very fond of Chairman Malfoy myself.-HBV
It's completely inappropriate for the story, but as it is Opening Day (in Japan) and as a lifelong Red Sox fan, I can't help but say, "Sweet Caroline... BAH BAH BAH... Good times never seem so good... SO GOOD SO GOOD!" I told you... horribly inappropriate, but I do love the name Caroline. In regards to the story, I love the scene between Severus and Lucius. It seems just what Lucius would say, though I wonder what Narcissa would really think.

You can actually blame Lord Peter Wimsey for the comments about a gentleman knowing his duties:) But it sounded so natural coming out of Lucius's mouth:)-HBV
That was fabulous!!!!
just exactly what i would have expected of ron! he and hermione were sooo mismatched. loved the talk between severus and lucius! very in character. thanks for this update and i look forward (as always) to the next installment. thanks so much
You're doing a great job! Keep it coming! Can't wait for another update.Livvy
I'm looking forward to the sh*& hitting the fan, Ron really disapointed me. I never felt that those two were a good match, but his behavior was rotten. I hope her lawyer makes mincemeat out of him.
Holy cats I think this is the longest chapter yet! Long chapters are good, they make the fan girls happy. You had me laughing out loud with Hermione when Draco wrote "And now that I sound exactly like my sainted mother"

Great line: Hermione narrowed her eyes again and joked, “I’d appeal to your better nature, but I’m not sure you have one.” And now no more chapters just as we're getting into the Ron and Snape stuff! LOL

A little sentimental for my tastes, perhaps, but I've been writing snappish, angsty things for far too long! LOL

Good old perceptive Ginny. Could Ron not just Apparate back, though? Or Portkey?

I like that they're all there supporting each other.

There must be an awful lot of portraits... I can't remember how many there were in canon, but if they're there all the way back to the Founders...! LOL

Nice little friendship they've got going on.

Nice last sentence! Draco dozing like a cat. LOL

I love the involvement of Draco and how detailed and thorough you're making this story.

Oh, that's sad. What a well-written beginning, though!
Tee Hee! I love Draco getting along with all of the Gyrffindors. Best line: “I’d appeal to your better nature, but I’m not sure you have one.” LOL
What the heck is up with Ron? Great story so far!
There is definitely something fishy about the way Ron is acting...
I love the bracelet the girls made for their Granny Min. A lovely memorial!
whoo boy...here it comes. lovely update. thanks so much
