I never really understood the Phantom of the Opera until reading this. I thought of it as a creepy Beauty and the Beast story. Anyways, I totally loved this story. I could picture the people perfectly. It was really angsty and I kind of wanted to see what happened later. One day after the war, Harry breaks his promise, or something like that.

*sniffs*  I just got into the Harry/Snape genre--usually it's Snape/Hermione.  I read a well written one on ff.net, read all 23 chapters rapid succession, and became obsessed (almost!)  This was such an intense, beautiful, tempestous, and poignant piece.  I shed some tears at the end.  I don't see this as a total good-bye.......just a temorary farewell.  Because if love is truly meant to be it shall flourish. :)  I have romantic leanings for everybody else even though I am a romance cynic (in regards to myself).  Welcome to the favorites!  You and the other author have a made a Snape/Harry shipper of me, too.  Something I did not know could be done. :)Or as I prefer.....Ja Matta Ne!  (See you again!)

OMG ROMAN---  that was. . . . beyond anything.  I could see the show, (and I have seen it preformed) with the actors from the movies in my head and hear the music.  I'd pay money to hear Rickman actually sing 'Music of the Night' it was be like a caress.  Now if I could just wrap my mind around "the Scarlet Pimpernel' and would you mind if I borrowed your Great Hall sets. . . . I so wish there was another rating above 5 stars- like 5 million!

Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)

(Belated) Thank you, (belated) thank you, (belated) thank you! You're too kind. :D

I have to say I'd pay money to hear Rickman sing anything -- in fact, I might pay to hear him grumble about falling further into typecast territory when he agreed to play Snape. Hmm, grumbling Rickman.

LOL, borrow the sets all you like -- I've put them in storage and I don't think I'm bringing them out anything soon.

Thank you, thank you. :)

allright a real review,    I really liked the backstage dramaespecially Ron. And the good bye was so sad, all the romances that end when a show closes. I expected a while back someone would be obliviated, so Severus just leaves in the dark eh?Maybe we don't need that much plot, just your awsome, brilliant scenes and dialogue reasonably held together. So if not a sequel would you run with someone elses idea?  I have a friend who may like your House stuff. I will check it out sometime. I will miss this story, thanks for the entertainment.

Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)

And for a real review... a real reply.

Ah, the backstage drama was quite fun to write. A bit of a metaphor for all the ACTUAl drama that tends to go on backstage. How I love theatre folk. Sometimes.

I might run with someone else's idea, if I feel I have what it takes to make it work. It doesn't always happen. I seem to fall back on my writing "safe places" quite a lot, and they are NOT pretty.

Thank you dearly for reviewing so often, and so thoroughly. I always looked forward to reading your opinions on the new chapters.

My reaction? My reaction was tears. Tears beginning with the line "Their parting kiss, at last" and increasing with each word that followed!

And although your ending surprised me, I think it is the best one. I can't come up with an alternative ending of the 'happily ever after sort' that wouldn't seem cheap. Their show is over. It's so sad. But I love it because it is wonderfully emotive.

I can see Snape insisting that this ends. I suppose its due to his morality that also caused him to tell Dumbledore in the first place. I don't want to think that it's because he really doesn't love Harry. He does, doesn't he?

I think so. Snape visiting Harry in the hospital (where he tried and failed to be conspicous… LMAO @ him wanting to rip out Miss Granger's tongue), the brush of his finger on stage, the way he's been so kind to Harry lately—making sure he understood about Sirius, and not rejecting Harry without letting him talk to him first—and the way he couldn't resist Harry physically.

Was it just physical attraction? I'm still inclined to think it was love. Their undeniable attraction to each other could have turned into more, feelings that could be called love and explained. As it is, there is no chance to explore, to reason it out, to figure out why they feel the way they do.

If Snape does love Harry, is he conscious of it? He'd be more inclined to have done the introspection that Harry thinks is useless. Does he still think that Harry's "love" for him is born out of *need* and so he needs to let Harry go (and grow so he can really know what it is he wants and what it is he feels)?

I hope you don't mind me thoroughly contemplating your story! This was so well done and is definitely a favorite!

Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)

Such a detailed, appreciative review really SHOULD have received an earlier reply, but real life really sucked me away. I'm so sorry.

It's... not quite love (on Severus' part. Harry, of course, IS in love, as only the very caring, generous souls can be). In the very first version of this fic, Severus did fall in love with Harry, and he even voiced it, but there was no room for any of that in this version. In this one (the only surviving one, thank goodness), it ultimately boils down to an uncontrollable physical attraction and a hazy feeling that somehow goes beyond whatever issues there are between them, but that isn't so clean-cut and/or self-respecting that Severus would own up to it.

I tried to write it as a psychological attraction that would leave Severus sufficiently troubled to occasionally give in to it, that that wouldn't be strong enough to become his priority -- which puts Harry in an even more vulnerable situation, because Severus quite unrepentantly WON'T fight for him.

Honestly? He's not doing it for Harry. Not really...

"they only kissed to upstage the Bohemians..."Oh, puh-LEEZE.  Between the two of them, Severus and Hermione have all the subtlety of a fart in an elevator when there's only two people present.  Sev was giving Harry a taste of his own girl-cootie medicine.Their show is over--but which one?  The one between them, in which Snape denies his true desires, or the one they've been putting on for the world to see?

Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)

>>Severus and Hermione have all the subtlety of a fart in an elevator when there's only two people present.

I simply MUST borrow this for use in real life sometime. The LOL.

I'm afraid it's "the one between them". :(

... sorry for the long-delayed reply.

Ron's jealousness is so him.  At  least he came around some what.  Always a friend.  I love how the play goes on around what is going on in the real world and seems to fit in some way.  What I don't understand is why it's over?  There is answers I need.  Like are they together (Severus and Harry) and what of Hermione and Draco?  And so many others.  I just can't believe it's over.  But I still love this fic.

Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)

I'm sorry for taking such a long time in replying (particularly shameful since you made a point of reviewing so often...). :(

In answer to your question... They're not together, I'm afraid. There's just too much keeping them apart.

Hermione and Draco ARE together, though. They're the only unscathed couple left.

This was so amazing, so powerful, so moving.  I can't believe that it is over.  I don't want to believe that it is over, but it was the perfect end.

I apologise for taking such a long time to reply to your lovely review. I am so pleased you liked the ending. I hope it was a rewarding read. :)

Thanks for reading and dropping me a word about it. And I'm sorry it took me such a long time.

Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)

Hee. Poor Harry, he was giving it his best shot.Oh, dear, I think I'll stick to PWP (Plot, what plot?) oneshots for a few decades now.
