Reviews for Havoc of the Opera
What is up with Dumbledore? Snape let Harry sleep on him? That was sweet.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Hee. Harry thought so, too.
Yikes! Poor Harry, he's really got it bad.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
... eh. Doesn't he? Just you wait for the final chapters.
So Snape won't kiss a child, WELL. And you have way more chapters than ten Yipeee! So If go to this IJ site your whole story is there? Or should I enjoy the wait and suspence here? That you are letting this unfold so nicely and slowly is delicious. It's great how everyone is still to character, the mysteries are floating out there with so much left to our imagination. I confess I prefer my Harry straight and innocent but my love for angst wins out and Snarry is usually good for angst. which you writebrilliantly into your dialogue. You have heard this praise before iam sure.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
About IJ: exactly. :) There, you can find the whole fic. Here, you can read the error-free (if slowly uploaded) version. Hee. It's all a matter of priorities. You're much too kind. It's so good to hear that the slow pace isn't too boring. Thank you! *hearts*
OOOOOOO!!!! I know! I know!
Ok, enough of my Hermione impression. Anyways, great chappie Roman. I'm having to drag my butt out of bed and then wait on the shower in the morning now, so I'm greatly enjoying catching up in the wee hours. Way to go!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
... why have you been waiting on the shower in the early hours? (says Roman, who would never get out of bed before noon if Real Life wasn't so keen on demanding her presence every day between 7 and 9 am).Thanks...
Response from Introspect (Reviewer)
Because all of the sudden I have to be at work at normal people time (9 am) and I have an hour drive, so now I'm trying to get ready to leave at the same time as everyone else in the house, so I have to get up and then wait my turn for the shower. Only through training though, then I get to go back to sleeping till noon!
Just had to add that I'm printing out a new hard copy of this as well and putting it in a three ring binder so I have it always
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
... then you'll like to know that this is the final version (yes, at last), and that it's 9 chapters and 90.000 words shorter than the first. And hopefully better written, too. :) *is so flattered*
Response from Introspect (Reviewer)
Wow, 90,000 words and 9 chapters shorter. Not so sure that's a good thing, but maybe it is. I have trouble imagining this story without any of its wonderful nuances from before. Looking so forward to reading the final copy and seeing how both the story and you as a writer have matured.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
... there were bits in the first version that should never have seen the light of day, so yes, it's a good thing. :P It won't win any Pulitzers, but at least nobody's eyes will bleed (hopefully). Two ink cartridges, OMG.
OMG!!!! Is this the same "Havoc of the Opera" that was posted on AFF like 5 years ago? The very same one that I actually got fired from my lousy fast food job for using company resources to print out the entire story? (And it was so worth it, BTW) The very same "Havoc of the Opera" that started my "Phantom of the Opera" obsession, which led to me attending 1 specific college, which led to my drafting into DCI? Seriously....Roman...you are GOD!!! And I am so utterly in love with this story and indescribably happy to see it here, after all the AFF coding problems, the story was never the same and I've so longed to reread it without all the errors. THANK YOU!!!

perfectly* You were SACKED?! Oh, my. Wow... wow. I... had no idea that 'Havoc...' had actually been influential on somebody's life. I'm... quite speechless. It's so good to hear from you again, even after you read that dreadful first version of the fic. It's so good to hear that you made such a radical change in your life and are happy with it. *grin*
Response from Introspect (Reviewer)
Yeah, using like 2 ink cartridges and like 1500 sheets of paper, not to mention like 4 hours of time printing and hole punching and indexing (I was bored and we were dead, and I really wanted my co-manager to have a copy and he didn't have internet access)....that whole scenario tends to get you fired. Didn't matter, I was like 17 and the job sucked anyways. And it was funny.
Another good chapter. I'm curious to see which characters wind up with whom (pstt. I'm so pulling for some Snarry). Grin. hehe
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Some Snarry? I wonder why. Hee.
This is so interesting so far. By the way, my favorite two musicals *ever* are Phantom of the Opera and Moulin Rouge!!! I think I am going to love this! I think I am seeing hints of ships and can't wait for some more good Slytherin/Gryffindor interaction.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Your *two* faves?! Oh, the responsibility. Glad you're enjoying it so far, and yes, at least one pairing should be obvious, already. Eh.
Enjoyed both chapters, hope to read more.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Thank you! I hope you're not disappointed by the rest.
Great start. Looking forward to the next. :)
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Thank you for the warm welcome!
THAT...WAS...AMAZING.....WOW...
I found this fic by "accident" and started reading it thinking it was a Hermione/Snape skip. I could not stop reading it when I found out it was not. It is so well written and the last chapter - wow
Hi, just wondering if you were interested in discussing the end of your story? I am just strolling through the Forbidden Forest, looking for unexplored territory, when I came by this way again. I couldn't help but to stop and pay it my respects =) It will always be one of my most favorite "places" in this Forbidden Forest =)
Such a stunning and perfect ending!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
It's great to have you back! :)
You wouldn't guess it from the time it took me to leave a thank you note in your other review, but I'd love to discuss the ending.
Why don't YOU add to this section? Hmm?

Why bother withpwp when you write such brilliant plot ( and porn too) are there other stories at this crazy journal? what's the address? This story is almost done?? so sad. If you're not to busy getting backers and selling tickets you should write a sequal to this.( I just know you're going to leave us wondering I just know it) and I have never asked for a sequel before. Please
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Honestly? I'm not all that great at coming up with plots, and I sort of feel this fic exhausted what little capacity I had--note that it's been a few years since it first reared its ugly head in my mind, and I still haven't got my inspiration back. PWP is a nice substitute. Good for when I need a quick writing fix. :PFor the moment (I really haven't been writing at all), I've only added two other fics to my current journal--back-ups of fics I'd previously posted in LJ. They're not Harry Potter fics, though. Do you like House, M.D.? I can easily be found at roman.insanejournal.com.... Havoc's last chapter should be up t any moment. I do look forward to reading your reactions. *wicked grin*And thanks for the reminder, I should be working on finding backers. Why does everything theatre-related have to be so expensive? Grr.

Oh, it's time for the play! How exciting! I think it's nice Snape came to check up on Harry. I hope Malfoy *can* keep a secret! And Ron . . . what will happen there? I'm really looking forward to seeing how everything plays out!

Oh, my goodness! You just continue to astonish me! I love the intermingling of lines from Moulin Rouge with what was going on between Harry and Snape when he was leaving. That was really powerful, especially since I know I emotional that song is. That song itself can shake me up. And I loved how they couldn't get enough of each other and just needed another moment, another moment. I'm still perplexed as to the nature of this relationship. Why wouldn't Snape want to see Harry when he returns? Why does this have to be about "goodbye" ? Is it about Snape's sense of "rightness" ? Does he love Harry? I know you can't answer all that, but you've got me wondering.
I also like how you describe the way the students admired the leads in the play. Like how the girls made Mandy their new idol. The insight into student nature really gives strength to this story.
I'm also wondering about the pain Harry felt. That wasn't normal scar pain was it? It seemed like he was feeling what Snape was. I'm wondering why.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
It's such a great song, isn't it? It just roars its way under your skin. And I think Baz Luhrman really paid it tribute in Moulin Rouge. I know the movie isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I can't help admiring what he did with the songs. Half of them sound better in his version, for heaven's sake. Can we talk about Snape's reasons once this final chapter is up? I don't want to ruin it for you now that it's so close, and I'm really looking forward to your reaction. Glad you liked the "student nature" bit. JK Rowling always leaves in a reminder or two that we are reading about teenagers, so, I tried to keep that in mind. After all, Hermione main purpose in the plot was to be the victim of a petty, typically (mean-)teenager attitude.

Yes! I'm so glad that Snape spoke that outloud to Harry. Harry suspected he hadn't been quite truthful about Sirius, but I'm glad he said it. I also liked seeing that Snape was responsible and told Dumbledore about the sex. Since this is a teacher/student story, I was glad to see the reality of the situation brought in. I appreciate its maturity.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
He just had to tell Dumbledore. I can't see this version of Snape just accepting to be part of a clandestine liaison. I can't see him "betraying" Dumbledore in this manner without a really good reason.... and it's not like canon!Snape is all that good at keeping his emotions to himself, either. :P

::thud:: This chapter was so . . . perfect! Everything. I just loved it. I can't believe I've been missing out on such awesomeness. I really liked the line about Severus smiling into the kiss and Harry pouring unsaid words into it. It seems like Severus is deeply affected by Harry. I can't wait to see what happens next for them.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Yay, You're back! ... just in time for the ending.I'm very glad those lines captured your attention. They gave me a bit of grief become coming out.

Roman thats not FAIR!!!! I want to know how the show is going on and 'see' it through your words, not wait with a dreaded cliffie! ARRg, you are SOOO evil! (are you sure you're not related to Lord Modiebutt?) ((and don't you snark at me heehee I know, I know, wait for the queue and you have a life and all that. . . just cuz I don't. . . . ))
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
I'd love to be related to someone called Lord Modiebutt. What a nice ring it has. :PThis was the last time I tortured you with a cliffie. Yes, I swear. Next up is the last chapter. Thanks for being so enthusiastic thus far. I do love your reviews.
Ron and Harry will be fine, it's Severus I'm worried about. Hope Harry gets to see him before the holidays start.
Brilliant chapter, thanks for the quick update.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Spare a little concern for Harry if you can, is all I'm saying. Next up... the last chapter.
I hope Harry gets to patch things up with Ron. And have a chance to talk to Snape again. Well at least talk. lol Good old Dumbledore trying to keep them apart. Good luck with that.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
At the rate things are going, I think Harry will be satisfied with a chance to see Severus from afar.
THERE YOU GO AGAIN WITH THE CLIFFIE!!! Good God, are you trying to give heart failure! (ouch! my head hit the keyboard and now I have to erase all the extra letters.) arg- update soon please.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
But I... I swear I'm not...
Oh my that was a beautifully written chapter, very intense and such a gripping ending.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
That's so nice to hear. Thanks!
oh my what an intense chapter. Severus should know that giving into Harry one last time is only making Harry want to not give up on him. That is if Severus lives in this story. I hope we get to see some more HG/DM up soon.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Poor Severus is allowed a moment of inconsequential acting, too, isn't he?... hmm.
I couldn't help but snort when Hermione said: 'I didn't think you'd take so long.' Ah, that made me laugh! And we all know why Snape was glaring at Harry and Ginny when they were touching. :-)And I'll never be able to watch that movie again without hearing Draco and Harry complain. *snerk*
I found this story where you posted it before so I already finished it. I couldn't help myself! But I'll still read it here to see what changes you might make.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Hee. Severus isn't fooling anybody any more.I'll only make one or two adjustments with regards to the grammar, spelling and the like. The ending will remain the same as you read (btw, shush!).
