Reviews for Havoc of the Opera
I will freely admit I look forward to every chapter as it is updated. And Snape! Who IS he being sour over? The fact that Harry kissed Hermione, or vice versa? I am weak with anticipation....
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Whee, a new reviewer! One who likes the fic! *does the happy dance*... ah, the millionn galleon question. Who do you think he's sour over?
Response from lilyginny27 (Reviewer)
Both! I think he covets Harry and enjoyed the kiss and is probably a little sour to see him kiss someone else. I think he worries about Hermione (why-I haven't figured out yet) and may be sour over her kissing someone because it may tax her health to do so. And overall, I think he's sour because they are kissing much more than they need to and are making an overall spectacle of themselves and distracting everyone else from rehearsal. It would be like making a scene in potions: it's just not done. I still haven't figured out what's wrong with Hermione anyway. Part of me almost thinks cancer, but it's probably a curse. My secret pleasure guess is she's pregnant and it's not agreeing with her. My super secret pleasure is that it's Malfoy's and Ginny's acting as a go between for them, But that doesn't explain Blaise (which I don't see anyway, but that's just me).
Wow, Harry is all over the place isn't he?
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
All over the place. But it gets worse. :P
Oh my, that chapter is beautiful with its cruelty.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
It's not Snape if he's not a little bit cruel. ;) He does have a sadistic streak, after all.
this is so intriguing. I wonder if Harry is doing this to Hemione without meaning to hmm? I don't know how you will wrap this in 3 more chapters. But I can't wait. I am rather new to fanfic. and not as computer savvy as i really should be since my husband is a genius. What is an IJ?
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
... you're not the first person to suggest Harry's somehow doing this to Hermione. Interesting!I won't be wrapping everything up in three chapters (it's a rather long fic, sorry...), but as far as Snarry goes, I'm sure chap 10 will please you. Eh. IJ=InsaneJournal. I don't know if you're familiar with Livejournal, a blog site where people create their own journals and fill them with all sorts of personal texts. Insanejournal is very similar. Because of a recent controversy regarding fan fiction/art and adult content in LJ, a great deal of the HP fandom is, er, migrating to Insanejournal, and other similar sites. I have journals in both websites, but Havoc of the Opera, for instance, couldn't be posted in Livejournal, due to the owners' objections to adult scenes involving underage people - even if the people in question are fictional, such as Harry. Insanejournal doesn't object to such scenes, which is why I posted it there.
I want to read more so badly! This is getting so good! This chapter was really welldone!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Ooh, I'm so glad! Can't wait for your reaction to the last few chapters.
What is wrong with Hermione? Did I miss something? Poor thing. And the interactions between them all are really amusing.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
No, you haven't missed anything. ;) It'll all be cleared up in later chapters.
I think I'm a bit confused here, anyway. But I'm enjoying it.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Glad you are! What's confusing you?
Response from blue artemis (Reviewer)
Mainly the whole "Hermione dying of consumption" side story. Do they know what is wrong with her? Because if they don't, they are certainly being quiet about asking. I would have thought that Harry would try to find out more.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
... well, she's not dying of consumption. They don't know yet, but they're uncharacteristically quiet, because Madam Pomfrey ran some tests and they're waiting for the results. I just banked on the fact that, before HBP, the trio tended to trust Dumbledore not to let anything truly serious happen in the school grounds (considering the events during Goblet of Fire, and all) - they're concerned, but they haven't panicked yet because DD is calm.
Response from blue artemis (Reviewer)
OK, I see what you are doing. I knew it wasn't consumption/tuberculosis per se, it just seemed to be that particular type of literary device.
OK! Now I've read, and I have to say, knowing how the plot turns out in the end, it at once ruins and enhances the story. It's kind of sad cause I know what is going on, but at the same time, I love watching all the lovely nuances and pieces come together. And now I've stayed up far past my bedtime and really need to go to bed...thanks, Roman, for a wonderful story and can't wait for more!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Shh! You're the only one here who knows the ending!
Response from Introspect (Reviewer)
I would NEVER spoil....I might taunt though!
Hey Roman!!! I wanted to stop by and give major props, though I have to admit I haven't been able to read more than the first couple chapters of this final version post. Starting a new job and moving and everything has kept me really busy, but it's all printed out and waiting for me. By the way, I meant to ask if anyone has done up any fanart for this fic? I'm looking for a cover for my binder I'm making up. I'm catching up tonight, so I'll drop by with more comments on the fic itself when I've finished reading.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
You've got a new job? *is curious* No art that I'm aware of (though someone, a long time ago, make me a lovely banner with two promo pics from one of the movies). Don't even look at me, I couldn't draw if my life depended on it. Quite literally.
Response from Introspect (Reviewer)
Nor can I, though I may have to try to photoshop something....and yes, a new job, for a very big pharmaceutical company, paying me very well and giving me lots of benefits.....I'm very pleased with it, but now I have to show them just how great I really am.
Hmmm. Something tells me Draco and Ginny might not be up to what we may think. Poor Harry needs someone to look after him. Write fast.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
It's written...! *cries* The finished version is in my IJ. Here, every chapter has to be in queue, that's why it's taking it a bit.... but, contrary to my IJ, every chapter here is sure to be typo/error-free. My lovely betas missed a few here and there.
I hope updates here don't take long. This is a great story. Mixing theatre and Harry Potter a wonderful combination.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Thank you, I hope it doesn't let you down along the way. As per the site's rules, the next chapter is in queue - for non-validated authors, there must be a three-day interval between the posting of a chapter and the next. The headmistress has been really, really quick in poring over the chapters, though. I'm hoping chapter 10 is a fit reward for the wait. :)
Very interesting and different type of fic! It took a while to get into it but I must say I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
The very first version of this fic was written before the whole "Hogwarts puts on a show" craze began, but now there are so many fics along these lines that it's particularly good to hear that someone finds this an original idea - you've made my day. :)The next chapter is rather Ginny-centric, hope that doesn't put you off...
Response from Fawkes_07 (Reviewer)
Heh, well, I spend more time writing than reading so this is the first Show Bunny fic I've read. But that wasn't even so much what I found particularly fresh about it. It's more of a style thing. Good writing!
Just what are Draco and Ginny up to? You have me curious about so many things with this chapter. I especially look forward to more Harry/Snape interaction. Great chapter! =)
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Thank you! Something tells me you'll enjoy chapter 10 - if you stick around that long, eh. :)
Oooh the plot thickens. This chapter has raised even more questions...............what caused Hermione to faint? Why are Ginny and Draco so friendly? Does Snape fancy Harry too?
Must have more chapters......................PLEASE!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Snape+fancy. You have to love a fandom that allows these two words to be put together. :DThe next is on its way...
This is so different, and interesting. A great mix of funny and serious. You are walking such a fine line with Harry and Snape I can't wait to see how it's handled. You have maintained their charachters so well. So I can't see them turn insipidly in love. Yet not smutty either. Well you definitly have my attention.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
I think any fic that tries to make a pairing out of Harry and Snape treads a fine line - I mean, we've all read the books... *snerk*Glad I got your attention! Here's hoping I don't lose it along the way!
Hmmm, good start. I like Harry's turmoil, and Ron's bluster. I also love the idea of the other crew doing Moulin Rouge! I know this fic is focused on the Gryf/Sylth group, but I do hope we get a few glimpses of the other production. Zabini seems a little ooc, but I guess you needed a strong, intelligent male Slyth to be Hermione's oppo since Sev will seemingly have other concerns.
In all, good work. Keep it up! :D
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
We saw so little of Blaise in the books that I took full and unashamed advantage of the fact that we were given little more than a cool name. :P Hope he doesn't get too OOC for your taste, and glad that you enjoyed the other group's choice!
Response from helshez (Reviewer)
I'm flexible. I will adapt, and I don't blame you for exploiting any opportunity. More power to ya, I say!
Interesting. Hermione and Blaise - sweet. Harry and Snape????????
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Yes, what about Harry and Snape...?
Wow, that was an intense scene! I can't wait for more!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
You found it intense? Good to know! Hope you're into acid dialogues, as there will be more of these...
I liked the way you portrayed Snape in this chapter, it was funny when he threatened Draco and Hermione.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
He wouldn't really be Snape if he didn't work his intimidatory muscles every now and then, would he?
I can't wait for the next update!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
I'm glad, thanks! It's on its way...
Inter-house drama teams? This has so much potential to develop in chaos!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
... is it not?! Heh.
She grasped his wrist. 'Harry... What are you going to do about Professor Snape?' 'I don't know,' Harry said after a long pause. 'Nothing that you'd approve of, apparently.' Good for you, Harry! Don't let that hyprocrit get you down. (still don't like her...)Thanks for putting in the Malfoy bit with the stairs. That was sweet. Very romantic. For him. It was nice to see her getting her knickers in a twist over Ginny.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Hee! You and Hermione are a riot.I just thought Draco would want to find the single most secluded place in the entire castle before admitting to any sort of positive feeling. He does have a reputation, after all. Ginny up next!
Snape! Harry! I want more Snape and Harry! LOL. This was still a great chapter though. I love they way you brought Draco and Hermione together. It was really well done!
And Hermione's is the voice of reality in regards to Snape. She's ensuring we (and Harry) can't ignore the wrongness of the situation.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Oh, I'm sorry for the het overload... :( Some clarification for Ginny's plotline is up next, and then we'll be back on track. Promise! In the fic's earlier version, Hermione immediately accepted Harry's feelings for Snape. Their post-epiphany conversation was a much lighter affair then--it just didn't seem feasible in the rewrite. This Hermione is very self-conscious. Of course, the change in her attitude provoked a few changes in Dumbledore's reaction as well (no, I haven't just tossed him out of the fic). It's fun, seeing their actions gain their own life regardless of your own plans for them. *headdesk*
you should be writing screenplays because that would have been fantastic to film and watch.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
How kind! I do love to write--but stage work's been keeping me sufficiently busy these days. I'll leave the movies for those who do them well. Why, oh why didn't I pick a normal job?
