Reviews for Havoc of the Opera
oo an early christmas present, you updated!! Huzzah! thanks for chapter 16
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
There will hopefully be a few more chapters before Christmas... Don't be put off by the het--Snape's on the way. ;)
What is making Hermonione so sick? Anxiety? Poison? Hex? Will the source of her illness be found?......Oh! IS SHE PREGNANT WITH MALFOY'S CHILD???!!!!! OHHhhhO! That would be some spine tingling twist right there wouldn't?....Maybe Snape doesn't want Draco to be an early father yet so...he is making them NoPregnancy/Concentive Potions?...Was that why she was there after "being with Draco"? For right now, I'm sticking to my Gralfoy / Snape Theory.Does Snape really feel love or lust towards Harry? "Doesn't feel the same way" - Vague yet direct, definitely sounds like a quote Snape would use. Has Snape fallen for Harry's/Lily's eyes? Has Snape truly seen Harry for who he is? - Consciously...maybe not, but unconsciously...he saw that Harry wasn't so much like his father and that there really do have a lot in common. Snape has after all, literally been in Harry's mind for Occlumency lessons, maybe the reason why he stopped them was because he was afraid that he might unconsciously be wrong? For now, this is my Snape's Unconscious Love Theory.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Hi!>>Will the source of her illness be found?Yes, it will.I virtually rewrote this fic in the last few months, trying to write it better incorporate something of Deathly Hallows' ambiance, but it was actually originally written before DH was out. The Snape/Lily plotline was scrictly fanon at the time. So, what I can tell you is that it wasn't originally in my plans to let any Harry-as-a-surrogate-Lily theories infiltrate my plot ("what is that het of which you speak?"). I'm... actually thrilled that it can be read that way, because it adds another layer to the plot that I didn't even intend to put there. But Lily isn't exactly my Snape's most pressing concern. And if I tell you more, I'll ruin the rest of the story for you. *slaps own blabby mouth*
for not wanting to be part of a teenage drama Snape sure put himself in the thick of it. And what is Hermiones problem? Since there is a show to perform and Voldemorts at large I hope Snapes motivations don't turn out to be evil. Just look how you have us speculating. Glad this posted so quickly.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
>>for not wanting to be part of a teenage drama Snape sure put himself in the thick of it.Oh, yes he did. Though, in his defence, it must be said that Harry took the first step (he took quite a lot of first steps, actually). Snape just... found himself in it. Speculate away, i love it. *cackles* Ginny's plotline is going to be untangled before Hermione's, though. Nobody cares for poor Ginny (well, I once had a reader that absolutely hated her, so she's probably better off with the indifference).
MEGASPORFLE! So Snape was seething with jealousy all along? LOVE that! Undoubtedly brooding that Harry was just a shameless flirt, leading him on then scampering off to Hermione's convenient arms... no wonder he tried to monopolize Herm's time, just to keep that fickle green-eyed brat from getting any! What a kick. That made my day.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
>> So Snape was seething with jealousy all along? LOVE that!HEE! I thought you would! My personal reasoning is that, since the two houses are actually getting to know more of each other than their respective badges, and seeing as Hermione has even ingraciated herself with two Slytherins, one of whom previously hated her, Snape might begin to guess at some truth in all those rumours about the proximity between her and Harry. In his PoV, Harry's attitude so far really isn't much better than "a shameless flirt"'s.... and yes, he's partly (unconsciously) trying to keep them apart. You guessed it, yay.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Reviewer)
Go, me! Although I hope I didn't spoil it by giving it away in a review!! 8-O
Loved the bit where Snape brought up the kissing in rehearsal, and it's interesting how they both think the other is in love with her, but I'm confused. How did Hermione end up in Snape's room if she had been with Malfoy? Did Snape find her in the hall? Did she go there afterwards because she was too tired to climb the stairs? Why would she? And I really don't get why Harry feels the need to apologize so quickly, just because Snape THINKS she was with Malfoy. She's the one being all secretive, I don't care if she is sick. Sorry for the rant (I know no one else to theorize about this with!). I love your portrayal of Snape and Harry and I love the story. I can't wait until all the miscommunications can be resolved so they can be happy. But, sorry, I still hate her.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
I LOVE your theories. They're such a great sounding board. >>it's interesting how they both think the other is in love with herIn the first version of the fic, it was much more blatant snd Harry had more reason to be jealous. When I rewrote it, I dropped the quasi-Snape/Hermione subplot, because they were both behaving so well, and Harry was becoming much more obsessive than before, so it suddenly just made more sense that it was mostly going on in Harry's mind. Hermione was more hate-able in the earlier version.... and here I go on, rambling shamelessly about my own fic. *le sigh* I can't wait until all the miscommunications can be resolved so they can be happy. I don't know why, but I have a sneaky feeling you'll be hating me at some point.
Response from lilyginny27 (Reviewer)
I don't know why, but I have a sneaky feeling you'll be hating me at some point. Oh, no happy ending, then? That's ok. There's enough angst in this thing that I can live with that. This is my 'angsty' read at the moment. I'm too invested NOT to continue reading. You got me hooked. BTW, I'm usually a SS/HG shipper, and I've just started on ss/hp so I don't totally hate her completely, but your version reminds me so much of canon that i'm reminded why I didn't choose HER name as my allias. A dichotomoy, isn't it?
WOW that was steamy!
Of course I don't believe Snape when he says he doesn't feel the same way as Harry.
This story just keeps getting better.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Yay, I'm so glad. *does the happy dance*Snape's feelings are... complicated. And contrary to Harry, he's not about to voice them in the faint hope that they become clearer.
Mmmm, I just want Snape and Harry to keep kissing forever! Why'd that have to end? I hope there's more of that to come! Snape said he doesn't feel the same way Harry does. What does that mean? Why can't he keep himself off of Harry? Is it love unacknowledged? Is it just lust? Is it just somehow satisfying because, well, it's Harry and they have their interesting history? You are making me wonder so many things with that statement!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
>> Is it love unacknowledged? Is it just lust? Is it just somehow satisfying because, well, it's Harry and they have their interesting history? What a complicated pairing they are. Hee. Mind you, Harry's come right with his overflowing passion, which... isn't really the Snape-ish way to do things. Why just blurt it out when you can be secretive and misleading for ages? ;).. I did feel, as I wrote, that Snape didn't quite reciprocate Harry's feelings.
I can't wait for more, and they are posting slowly now.I have to admit I saw this set up coming, of course lots of wrong conclusions. However I am still as confused as you want us to be. good fun.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Why, of course you saw it coming. ... if the new chapters keep getting posted every three days, we should be done within the month. My New Year's gift for you all. *waggles eyebrows*
OMG! Hermione slept in Snapes room! Harry found them!
Not for one second do I believe that anything untoward happened but Harry will jump to the wrong conclusions.
Looking forward to more chapters and answers.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Yes, now is the time for answers. The countdown to the performances (and the ending...) has begun. *overwrought dramatic music soars*... oh yes, wrong conclusions ahoy--for everyone involved.
Response from Merlinsbeard (Reviewer)
Yippee! Can't wait (although I realise I will have to).
You know, I like your writing, but I no longer like this story. It has gotten far too circuitous. I will no longer be following it.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Thanks for reading thus far--and for letting me know. See you in other reading/reviewing corners...
Nice chapter, but I'm still curious on what's the deal with Hermione and her relationship with Snape. I would love for them to be an "item", but I think it's too obvious. Looking forward to reading more.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Hello,
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
. :)Hermione and Snape's relationship (which we've seen entirely through Harry's eyes) will be clarified in the next couple of chapters. It's time to start untying the knots--the end approaches.
Urgh! That is such a cruel way to end a chapter! I can't wait to see Harry's reaction. I can imagine him pushing and yelling at Snape (espcecially since he's sleepy), but I can also imagine him running away and refusing to speak to either of them. But then, I can imagine your Harry doing both at the same time. Hmm...And I still don't like Hermione. *walks away in a huff because another update won't come fast enough.*
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Poor Hermione, she gets no love at all. :PI love your theories. They're all very much awake now, though.
Response from lilyginny27 (Reviewer)
Gah! Even your responses make me laugh. *snerk*
What the hell????? Hermione!!!! I don't see an acceptable excuse for this! It really did start to sound like she'd been interested in Malfoy, but really, what is going on here? Unless she got really sick at dinner, and he just kept her there to watch over her instead of bringing her to the hospital wing? This story is so captivating . . .
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
You'll find out in the next chapter (which is all Harry and Snape, btw...).
Oh, my god. You have me crying, seriously. I've always loved Sirius and took his death really hard. It was so sad that he and Harry lost each other. You wrote Harry's grief so powerfully and touching. I like the inclusion of an adult's perspective of the situation that Harry thinks is love. Maybe it's love. Maybe the lack of and the loss of father figures plays into the need. But I think it could be more than that (because of the hot kiss they had!) Incredible chapter!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
I must confess I'm not all that fond of Sirius (... at all), but Harry reacted so strongly to his passing that I was amazed he went back to normal in HBP. Considering the events in HBP and DH, I do wonder if Sirius would have come up again, should Harry and Snape have found the time to have an actual conversation.
Response from SeverusLovesUs (Reviewer)
I think its inevitable that they would have had to talk about him. I was really wanting JKR to write a scene where they talk about everything from Sirius to Lily . . . but it didn't happen, so I guess we get to make that happen in fanfiction instead =) Even though you don't like Sirius, you did a great job with that scene!
Wow! I am so behind now! I can't believe I've been too busy to come and read this! Well, I'm here now and as usual, this chapter makes everything infinitely more interesting. Hermione seemed pretty confident that Harry's Slytherin wasn't the same as her own, but then she *is* having dinner with him now? Oh, I would be so stir crazy if I wasn't able to go ahead and read the next chapter right away!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Whee, you're back!
OUCH!Dang, Snapey's got some 'splainin' to do...
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
*snortlol* ... because explaining himself is just the sort of thing Snape likes to do.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Reviewer)
*sporfle* Exactly. But after Harry's recent heart-on-sleeve/must-talk-NOW debacle, even the Snapester's gotta know he can't leave this one percolating. Confrontations with hysterical Gryffindors are his absolute favorite...
Heh, that stubborn git was lost when he indulged himself in that sensual interlude in the Hospital Wing. He's got no one to blame but himself, the tease...
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
I don't think he was expecting Harry to read that 'interlude' quite in that manner... ;)
Go Harry.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Whoo!... I thought you liked Harry straight and innocent?
Response from hobesan (Reviewer)
Well you may not be writing him as such but I do love this story. Unless there's a twist coming, could he be in love with Hermione too? That triangle would be weird.
Oh, wow. You know, no one ever asks Harry what he thinks. I sometimes believe that would forestall many problems.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
I completely agree. But then again, if people actually bothered to talk to Harry, there might have been two books instead of seven... and where would we be...?
Perfect! Oh so very perfect!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Yay! ... hope you have a soft spot for Hermione. You're getting an overload of her in the next two chapters.
I have to admit, Roman, that I was an impatient wench and went over to read the whole story on IJ about a week ago. That being said, I'm still printing out all my chapters here cause they print very nicely. I left you a nice long detailed review over there, so I'll spare the 90 paragraphs here. God I love this story!!!!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
I'll leave you a detailed response there later today (real life has been just a wee bit hectic. Sorry...). Your review was delightful. *grin*
... you don't write? Why?
Response from Introspect (Reviewer)
I can definitely understand r/l being overly hectic....tell that to last week's 65 hour work week (including commute)!! As far as writing, I don't think I ever said I don't write...I do, it just never meets anyone elses eyes....I'm atrocious, I swear. I was good until about my 15th or 16th birthday, but my writing (nor my characterization) ever matured from there. It all still reads like stupid high school crap. I love to beta and put my two cents in though. Good luck in your hectic week, and I'll keep popping in to say hi periodically.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Hee, coffee break! I want!I was just wondering if you wrote (and if not, why), because I'm that curious. ;)Hey, if you're into the House M.D. fandom, I might want to borrow your beta skills later! *imposing, moi?*
Only one more chapter until the chapter you promised I'll like! This one was great, too, but I'm looking forward to Harry/Snape interaction.
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Yep, just one more, and it shouldn't be much longer. :D... I'm nervous, now. What if you don't like it? *cringe*There'll be more focus on Harry and Snape from this chapter on. The set up is ready (you'd think so, after nine chapters...), so now it's a matter of letting events unfold.
A strange bit. Harry really doesn't know what he is really feeling, does he?
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
No, not quite, poor thing. Hee. In his defence, though, we are talking about Snape, so he's entitled to a bit of doubt.
Another great chapter. Hermione is entirely too popular! LOL She has plenty of people interested in her, or so it seems, so she better not get interested in Harry's Snape! I can't wait for more!
Response from Roman (Author of Havoc of the Opera)
Hermione comes off as being very popular? Really? ... not exactly my goal. Glad you liked this one. More on the way!
Response from SeverusLovesUs (Reviewer)
Well, she has Ron and Blaise and whoever sent her those flowers . . . I'm just saying she has enough people interested in her =) Leave Snape for Harry!
