Jumped on the Harry Potter bandwagon in 2000 (when Goblet of Fire was out in hardback). Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite in the series, followed by Order of the Phoenix. I read and write in the SS/HG corner of the Potterverse.
Reviews for Resurgam
How horrible. Poor Hermione.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
She has the worst luck with me, poor thing. Thanks for reviewing!
Hmm, now I wonder how Severus plans to remind her of that? Lucky Hermione. Interesting about the rune flares in the Death Chamber. Great chapter!
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
His method of reminding her probably means that she'll keep forgetting!
It made sense to refer back to something mentioned in Tabula Rasa, particularly when the Death Chamber has quite a role to play.
Thank you!
ohhh I wonder how Severus will remind Hermione of 'her own self worth'. Another wonderful chapter, with lots of action. I like your character Croaker as well.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Hmm, I wonder... Thank you! Croaker is mentioned by name in canon, but otherwise he's a blank sheet. Glad you like how I've done him.
Nice transitory chapter. I couldn't help but notice that everyone was accounted for except Minerva...Chuckles with the U NO SPEW, even in death the twins are cute...The chapter ending sure changed gears quick. Hermione is a lucky girl.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thanks! I had to reread to make sure, but Minerva does have one line after the Order gets back. It can be a struggle to make sure that none of these characters vanish when so many of them are around...
After coming up with U-NO-POO in canon, I figured it was only a matter of time until they showed their affection for Hermione.
Ooh, lucky girl indeed!
Response from wsanders (Reviewer)
Sorry for the false alarm...U NO SPEW is definitely more clever than U NO POO.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
That's okay, and also quite a compliment!
Brilliant! Please update! I'm dying to see Hermy face her evil robot double (or parallel universe doppleganger or evil twin or whatever she is!) Write faster! Hungry reader starving here! BTW thanks for sparing Sev's health and Tonk's life. You're not a complete meanie after all! ;)
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thanks! I'm working on the next chapter, although Atropos probably won't be making an appearance until chapter 12.
You're not a complete meanie after all! Damn! I'll have to try harder.
Ugh. Yes, I'd think it'd be damned hard not to Splinch after learning something like that! Thanks so much for saving Tonks. I'm glad Hermione was able to sense that fading spark before it went out.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Just as well that the more experienced of the pair was doing the Apparition!
I thought Tonks deserved a break... and the Order needed some success to mitigate the disaster.
Atropos + Voldie = kinda squicky! Good chapter, as always.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Only kinda? That must be because I've shied away from going into any detail.
Thanks! I hope I can keep 'em that way.
I'm glad Tonks is back too. But it seems that the universe isn't big enough for Hermione Granger, especially TWO of her. Chilling. "by the trail of dead, you'll find her."
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
I thought Tonks (and Remus) deserved a break!
Quite so... the universe not being big enough for two of Hermione would probably be the case even if she wasn't a Necromancer.
Interesting original character, and I'm glad Tonks is back. I couldn't help but wonder about Atropos' motivations, even though she wasn't really in any of the scenes.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Croaker is a canon Unspeakable, but there's only his name to go by... assuming that he is a 'he'.
I'm aiming to reveal more about what drives Atropos by the end. Good to hear that she's on your mind even when she's not in the chapter (apart from the carnage caused).
Yep, that last part was a particularly disturbing image.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thanks! I hoped it would be.
Hermione slept with moldyvoldy??!!! past? Future?!! OK you shocked me this chapter great job!
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
For the sake of Hermione's sanity, think of it as Atropos slept with Voldy.
Thanks! Glad to hear it.
I am overjoyed to read their heartfelt, if messy, reunion. It's also a plus that Hermione has most, if not all of her powers retained. Creepy how she was "chained to the castle" but in such a state even the ghosts couldn't detect her.
Thank you, thank you, thank you soooo much for deciding to bring them together again now instead of waiting 2 years. Really appreciate it. This is a great read.
I second the opinion that Hermione should look absolutely beautiful and radiant for their wedding since she had to spend the past 2 years as atomic particles--it's next, I hope?
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thanks! You're welcome. It turns out that even with uni work I do have some time to write. That's just as well with the advent of Deathly Hallows in two and a bit months. Erk. Can I manage to get this finished by then? Even if I don't, I'll somehow get it completed.I suspect her imprisonment as less than a ghost was something to do with Hogwarts' wards, but I'm not planning to go into detail with that theory.Hermione having most of her powers but not all will become rather more concerning when Atropos comes out of the woodwork....The bride is guaranteed to look beautiful to Severus. I'm not so good at describing clothes, so it's probably just as well that I'm writing from Severus's POV. And yes, the wedding is in the next chapter. Which is in progress now.
I am so happy to see that Hermoine back! I was so heart broken for Snape. I hope that we'll be able to read a happy ending *hint hing*
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
I did promise a happier ending than Redivivus. I don't think I'll change my mind!
i cant tell you how pleased i am that this sequel came out so fast. i know you had said u were thinking of waiting about 2 years, right? Anyways. love this story. <3
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thanks! Learning the release date of Book 7 and the inherent implications for certain characters served to give me a kickstart.
Yes, two years is definitely a long enough engagement! So, she saw everything while he was in the castle? That must have been torment for her. This was a beautiful reunion, even the blotchy sniffly parts.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thank you! Those two years were torment for both of them. It's a toss up as to which of them had it worse.
I loved the line that she would look repulsive to anyone else. That's the real sign of true love. The most passionate times in life always happen when you look your worst. Giving birth comes to mind...my husband said I was beautiful. He lied (sweaty and bloody isn't sexy). 100 points to Slytherin for Sev!You told us Hermione lost her perfect memory but what did she gain? Every loss should balance with something new, shouldn't it?At least let Hermione be gorgeous for her wedding. Two years of being atoms is hard on a girl!Love it and thanks for the update.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thank you! It's all in the eye of the beholder. What did she gain? A husband, in the next chapter, is all I can think of on the spur of the moment. She will be gorgeous, even if it's just to Severus. I don't know if she will have aged during her scattered time. Bonus for her if she hasn't!
yes another chapter!, i loved it, but i hope hermione will get her perfect memory back...otherwise wouldnt be her anymore lol kidding
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thanks, glad you did! As for her perfect memory, I can only say that it's gone for a reason. Will it be back? That'd be telling.
Awww...Really that was an "awww" moment. I like how Albus and Minerva were not so effusive in welcoming her. I can't wait for Harry and Ron's reaction.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thanks! Albus and Minerva do have other things concerning them.... as will Harry and Ron.
Is it just me or does everyone else get the feeling Severus isn't willing to let Hermione out of his sight? Absolutely brilliant chapter, can't wait for the fun to start. Fia.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thank you!Can you blame him? If I were him, I'd be afraid that it was just a dream.
Yes she's back and a wedding to boot! Very exciting!
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thanks! It's after that wedding that the trouble really starts...
It was a pleasure. Their reunion was so touching!
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thank you! This must be the first time that my own beta has reviewed.I'm glad that it was touching rather than sappy.
Response from septentrion (Reviewer)
I don't see why I should stop reviewing, if only to tell I liked it.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
I'm certainly not complaining! While I don't write just to get reviews, it's always nice to get them.
I really enjoyed the first one, and the second looks to be off to a wonderful start! I hope your muse is treating you well, and I also hope to see another chapter of this up soon! ^_^
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thanks! My exams have virtually wiped my muse out, but I'm sure it'll soon recover. I hope to be able to post chapter 2 soon, as it's currently going back and forth between me and my beta.
Well, definately different, interesting and intelligent. I guess I have to concede that just because it didn't have all the fluff and happiness I wanted doesn't mean it's not good.It was pretty brilliant,in fact.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
Thank you. I'm glad that despite the lack of desired fluff and happiness you still thought this story was good.Different, interesting, intelligent and pretty brilliant is all I could hope for. Thank you for that compliment, and for reading and reviewing.
Redivivus was so good, this is getting out of control. You should write sci/fic, it's very detached from the previous story.
Response from ayerf (Author of Resurgam)
I'm glad that you thought Redivivus was good. I suppose Resurgam is somewhat detached, but there is Tabula Rasa in between them.
