I am a longtime fanfic fanatic, having entered the realm via Buffydom. One day I read a Willow/Severus crossover and I was hooked – on Snape that is! He's been in every HP story I've done so far.
I write in multiple fandoms on LJ, esp. BtVS and Firefly. If you're interested in reading my fic for other/crossover fandoms, it can be found at:

Reviews for Ladder
Oh, Snap! Muahahahhaa...
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! Slap!!! He, he, he! (Darn, my evil laugh isn't as good as yours!)
I can't believe I missed reviewing this chapter! Whoops! :) This chapter buids our anticipation for their next meeting. :)
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! Not to worry - lots of people missed chapter 4 (that'll teach me to post something over Super Bowl weekend). Anticipation, anticipation ... (now that song it stuck in my head - Carly Simon?).
Hooray! Thanks for the update; it's as enlightening as it is intriguing. I wonder about what answers he's seeking in the mirror, and what he's thinking in those last moments of this chapter. Or if he can think at all. (And yes, I am curious about the writing of "Ladder," so I'll be haunting your LJ.)
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm so glad you found it 'enlightening' and 'intriguing' - that's amazing.
I think he's looking for an easy answer to this situation in the mirror and there isn't one. So maybe his answer is that there is no answer (now I sound like a Zen koan - LOL).
I'll try to have something interesting up about writing by Mon.
Each chapter is like chocolate, I can't get enough either ;) He's going to chase her, isn't he? If this confrontation is any indication of what's to come, then I'm very impatient to read more.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! (nibbles chocolate) I don't want to spoil things, but I like the way you think! More soon.
getting good
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the story!
Another great chapter. I really love this story. I'm glad HG stood up to SS, he deserved that slap. You know I was thinking that how this one incident (while big) has caused them to rethink their lives. If they both had been content with their partners, I imagine this would have eventually blown over. I find it very interesting how much we've learned about them and their lives in a few chapters. It's great and very satisfying the way you have kept all the thoughts and action on either SS or HG or both. Some stories are really good but the build up to get to the SS and HG feelings and actions takes so long. You could have drawn out the SS/NT thing, the HG/RW thing for ages, and you didn't. It's there, a background of the couples was given without it being drawn out and best of all the primary focus is completely on HG and SS. Masterful. I hope it continues this way. LOL I think in all this RW is going to be the most hurt, while HG will feel the most guilty. SS is such a Slytherin, I think if he decides he does want HG he'll start planning for it (for instance not seeing Tonks since HG is her friend and would feel disloyal, or I can see him trying to somehow break up HG and RW, or whatever it takes to get her-assuming that's what he wants-I have no idea). Poor HG I can see trying to let RW down gently. Oh, I just want to say it's so cool the way that everything is taking place on the same day at the party. It's perfect because, SS and HG are both there of course, and all the rest of the parties that may be involved like RW, NT, KS, etc. are also there. Perfect. And I love the way you're showing by time what's going on. It's funny how life altering decisions and introspections can last but a few hours. I hope we stay at the party for many, many more chapters or the whole story. A really wonderful story and such entertaining writing. I can't wait for more.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the slap - I agree that he deserved it, and I hoped it would show Hermione has a backbone.
I also think you're spot on about the ladder incident - it only shook up their lives because they needed such a catalyst.
As for the focus - the 1st person POVs do help me keep the attention on our favorite pair, but there are interactions with NT and RW still to come.
As you point out, the time frame is very focused, too. The entire story will not take place at the one party, but each major block of chapters will be focused on the events of only 1 or 2 days.
Thanks again for all of the nice comments on my writing!
Response from Xizoli (Reviewer)
Darm interation between NT an SS. I'm starting to get neverous, biting my fingernails, NT does have her own charms and she is is girlfriend. Oh no. OK I'm gomg to take a deep breath and trust you. LOL I loved everything you written in this story so far. Seriously, I know there has to be interation between SS/NT but will confess I'm dreading it. I do have faith that your writing abilities will get me through th SS/NT scenes. LOL
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
If it makes you feel any better, there won't be any sex scenes between NT/SS or HG/RW.
Ah... Ladder. One of the series that is keeping me sane through endless bouts of washing and ironing...I love it! Your Snape is just so..... lickable! Especially with that sharp tongue of his, in more ways than one! Giggle! Ok... I will shut up now, as RL is sending me loopy and it's spilling into my ramblings...Just wanted to leave you a note to say how much I am enjoying reading Ladder, and love it when the next installment hits my inbox!Keep going, and don't leave us in suspense too long!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm glad I'm adding to your sanity (now, if only the same could be said for me!). Mmm, Severus's tongue - sorry, I got side tracked there - I'm glad you like it/him. He's fun to write.
Thanks again for all of your work - this story is much better because of your Brit-picking!
LOVE IT
update soon now please!!!!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. I'll submit the next chapter today!
Oh, Wow. That is an awesome chapter. Please update soon.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it! Next one in a couple of days.
this is a first rate piece of work.sharp, hot, boldand dangerously enticing
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm so glad you like it. Also, I appreciate the comments on my writing! (Smart use of word choice to reinforce your point - 'sharp, hot, bold' is 'sharp, hot, bold' writing itself.)
Oh, the way you described his clothes and his build just about made my mouth water! I should have known that he'd go on the offensive -- and BE offensive -- when he mentioned the afternoon's events to Hermione. Thanks for the update!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! That's funny because I feel I spend little time on descriptions of clothes, rooms, etc. Part of that is I thought about these two - they're cerebral types who don't care if the curtains are the latest chinz. (Now, Lavender's POV I could never do!)
Ooo, offensively on the offensive - I love it!
Ouch! Boy, talk about an irresistable force meeting an immovable object...something tells me poor Tonksy is going to have it the worst in the end.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! An "irresistable force meeting an immovable object" = SMACK!!! That's perfect! It describes these two - both stubborn past the point of their own good (wait a minute - that sounds like me - lol).
Someone's going to be very hurt in this story (and not because I hate the character - it just seemed reallistic), but you'll have to keep going to find out who.
great
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm very glad you like it and I hope you like the next chapter, too!
Oooh, tension, tension! Can't wait for Snape's bit!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm glad that the tension between the two is coming through for readers - it lets me know that the way I'm invisioning things is actually what's coming across.
Love the story. Have trouble being patient for the next chapter.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm so glad you like the story!!! If it helps with the patience factor, the next chapter is ready to go and should be up by the end of the week!
Wicked, go Hermione!!! I am absolutely enchanted by this story.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! Double wicked that you like this Hermione! (It was a meaty slap.) I'm so glad you like the story.
YES!! She slapped the bloody smirk off his face! Gotta love Hermione's fiery disposition... though it could backfire on her at some later point. Go Hermie!*cough* Um, good chapter. Hope to see Severus' third rung real soon. *cheeky grin*
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked this Hermione - "fiery disposition," indeed! He did go a bit too far, hmm? I'll try to control the backfire. His POV in the next few days!
update soon, please.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I've got the next chapter ready to go and it should be up by the end of the week.
Ouch! Can't wait to find out what happens next.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! Next up - what Severus was thinking through all of this!
I'm confused. Why is Snape so demonstrative with Tonks? Why is Hermione playing hard to get, other than guilt? Where is chapter 6? I really need it.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! Hermione is in a serious relationship with Ron, and she's got ethics. Instead of answering directly on SS with NT, I'll pose a question: What is SS gaining by being so demonstrative with Tonks? (Hint - think like a Slytherin.)
More, please! This is really heating up. Snape was wonderfully intimidating and Hermione was her usual stubborn, spunky self!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm glad you like this Hermione - spunky - great word for how I see her! I'm also happy that you liked Severus here. Next chapter soon!
Oh boy thiis was wonderful. You could feel the sexual tension. Both have it bad. SS did deserve to be slapped. LOL You know despite making him angry, I wonder if HG's spirit and slap made him even hotter and more attracted to her. The passion is not there with SS/NT's relationship, HG/RW seem to love each other but no passion-now you have SS and HG both experiencing all types of "fierce" passions and emotions with each other. I bet they both feel more alive than ever (although angry LOL). This is a great story as I will keep telling yoi. LOL
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! UST - I loves it! I'm glad you liked the slap - this Hermione's no pushover. You're once again reading lots between the lines, and I love it! Thanks for your encouragement.
No, No, NOOOOOOOO!!! Please tell me that Hermione will pull her head out of the sand and go after him!!!!!!!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! Well, it's not a romance, per se, so things might not be as easy as you hope, but this is still HG/SS!
ooooooooohhhhhh! He deserved that! She might have been at an obvious loss for words, but did he really think he'd get away with that! Lol He's just a bad BAD man
Dying for his side! I'm afraid this is going to get much worse before . . .Keep it coming!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! Naughty, naughty Severus! (channeling Zoot from Monty Python's The Hold Grail). He probably did want to get away with it and not want to - all at once. You'll see what he's thinking next!
You take cruelty to new heights, Madame.
::camps by computer waiting for next update::
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
He, he, he! (Wrings hands evily!) You don't have to camp out for long - chapter 6 is ready to submit in a couple of days!
Response from Warded_Portal (Reviewer)
Couple of days TOO LONG.
Look, will you take cold hard cash?
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Hmm, that's gonna cost ya - I've gotta take care of the betas, ya know. Then there's palms to be greased at the archive. How much ya good for?
[Ok, I don't have cable and, therefore, didn't watch Sopranos - my NY mobster is pitiful.] I can promise, as long as it's within my power, updates will be regular.
