Reviews for 'Til We Have Faces
What a fancinating story. I have just read it for the first time and must compliment you on a job well done, I look forward to see more of this story. I am very satisfied with how you present the caracters; First of all Molly, very nice to see you present her as a smart and clever woman in stead of the meddeling busybody so many fic's present her as. I am also very satisfied with your Harry, I firmly belive that he must have some brain and ability to see behind the lines for him to one day being the one to take out the Dark Lord. There is only so much you can count on luck to achieve. Your Ron, well, since he was under the imperious curse I shouldn't blame him for being an idiot, but then again what he did against Hermione was pretty bad and even though I am pleased with you giving him a brain too, I am not completely able to forgive him. Then we have Hermione: I am happy that you present her as more "human" than many stories, but you are at times rather close to present her as ignorant, unpolite, thickhedded and rather unable to think logical. I guess you probably want to present a Hermione who is able to fail just as anyone else, and that is great. But so far you have let her fail at almost every turn and more likely to be a burden towards the final battle than someone able to contribute with something good. The Hermione you present so far is not very likely to end in a romantic relationship with a grown man as Severus, but I noticed that romance is not mention among the genres describing this story, so I am probably asuming wrong thinking of them as a couple. The plot is great though, bringing Narnia into the HP-fanfiction world is brilliant and I do look forward for your updates.

Hermione comes into her own within the next chapter or so, don't worry! I did want to present her as someone who does fail. I don't like SuperBrain!Hermione - I think people sometimes forget that she is only the brightest witch of her age, not the brightest witch ever. This will be a romance, eventually. It'll be a little ways down the road, though. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Molly meets up with some guy and marries him -- arthur? ron and hermione are saved from the enemy by molly. hermione approaches snape. i bet that she's the one dumbledore wants to take care of snape.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Well, there are no wedding bells in Molly's future, I'll say that! ^_^Thanks for reading and reviewing!
I am jumping into this fic just now but I feel compelled to leave a review because I love the way you are writing this. Some thoughts:
- The concept of sacrifice - it is a very, very important thing in fantasy writing, and was used by many including the Master (JRRT), and his friend whose writing you are incorporating into this story - I like it very much, especially because it has not been used often in fanfiction. JKR herself touches upon this with HP's mother, but I always disliked that this was never expounded upon. Well done!
-Molly - I am eternally grateful you have decided to write her as a competent witch. A woman can choose to remain at home and raise a family, but this does not mean she has mush for brains, nor that she doesn't have any skills - it is a perfectly valid choice, just like having a career, there is no difference, so am very thankful you've gone down this path - you have kept her in character, while touching upon her skills as background, which is great in my book, because you enhanced her character while not really changing her.
- The boys also seem more intelligent and mature, something which often lacks in many fanfics, while Hermy is made out to be a genious thus superpowering her, and underpowering them in a way - lovely ballance in your writing, which brings us to Hermy who I think is very real here, not some Super!Hermy which I personally do not like as they tend to be rather lacking in believability - again well done.
- Lovely Dumbles, just how I have always seen him - this is just like something he would do. In all honesty, while I know JKR will not bring him back, I do wish that she goes this way in the sense of Snape/Dumbles relationship because honestly both have made the sacrifice.
- Lastly, Snape - ultimate sacrifice indeed, because he does sacrifice himself, perhaps even more than Dumbledore at that point in time. Also, you are writing him very well indeed (the touches of humor are nicely done, nothing over the top, and quite Snapish - I rather enjoy them). You are carring on the theme of sacrifice really nicely.
- ah yes, I forgot - wonderful, wonderful work with arithmancy - I was thrilled to see what you've done with it. I do believe this is probably the first time I've seen this take on things, and I've read many a fic, and very, very ingenious my dear!
So, much thanks, fully intend to keep on following this. Never mind that it's your first fic, you are doing wonderfully and it is a pleasure to read - do not anyone tell you any differently. Thanks again, looking forward to more!
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Wow, thank you for your very kind words! I am glad you like it.
I've always thought Molly had a lot of unexplored potential. I agree with you on the Super!Hermione, too! Too often I think people forget that she is only the brightest witch of her age, not the brightest witch of all time. I worried a bit about the Arithmancy; I actually ended up drawing out the whole thing one day when I was bored.
Thanks for reading!
I like the way you are weaving this story.
Snape won't be pleased with her. It will be interesting to see how she gets herself out of this one.
Waiting for more.

Thank you very much!
fabulous concept...the interweaving of cs lewis and potterverse. i especially like the way you handle arithmancy. thanks and i look forward to further chapters.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Thank you very much!
The Arithmancy equations were quite fascinating.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Thanks!
Hermione really is biting off more than she can chew at the moment! First the impossible Arithmancy equation, then rummaging in Snape's stuff. I hope she won't choke. Or get hexed into next year, even if she deserves it.I look forward to reading more.

As always, thanks for leaving a review! You are awesome. : )
Yay! Old Dumbkedore -erm, Albus- is up to his tricks again... oh bother.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Tricksy Dumbledore! He's very good at that. : )Thanks for reviewing!
Love the idea of Albus' sacrifice saving his own life.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Thanks! I read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and the idea of Albus as Aslan kind of hit me. : )
Thanks for reviewing!
Interesting story. Looking forward to the next part.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Thank you very much!!
I'm rather enjoying this pleasant little story. Thanks!
For reference purposes, you've left one comment in yet. "It was Ron’s turn to blush, and he stammered, 'Th-thank you, Professor.' I put the h there because when you stutter out ‘thank’ you stutter on the first sound or the last sound-which would be ‘th,’ not ‘t.’ Just a thing with me, lol."
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Blast! Thank you for letting me know! I'm glad you are enjoying it, though. ^_^
Interesting chapter. There are still some beta-comments floating in the text though. Might want to check it again.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Aiyee! There were - not sure how that happened! I took them out when I uploaded it, then again when I submitted the chapter for validation... hopefully the third time's the charm! Thank you very much for pointing that out!
oh no! dumbledore has gone!
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
He is indeed. You'll find out what happened to him in the next chapter, which I actually just finished about ten seconds ago. It'll be ready for posting in a few days, I'm hoping. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
I love the story so far, but what happened to Dumbledore? Evil author... leaving us on a cliffie like that! ;)Looking forward to more great story telling... Cheers!
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
That kind of evil is so fun, though... ^_^ The next chapter is in progress, so you'll find out about Dumbledore soon.
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!
I don't know what happened, but this is a repost, isn't it? The review that I have left for the first post was deleted, so I thought I'd let you know I appreciate your story.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Apparently PP had a spasm and ate everything from the past couple of days. It threw my story back in queue, and I lost all my reviews and edits. Thanks for reviewing (again ^_^), and additionally, a huge thank you for catching my David/Daniel whoopsie. I'm off to correct that again now.
"Back to the Future: A Magical Approach to Time by Dr. Emmett Brown"?!? ROTFLMAO!
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
I couldn't resist. :giggle:
i really do enjoy this! and harry was right, ans hermione was wrong! go harry!but everyone thinks he's mental, just like they thought of lucy...
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
I'm glad someone saw the parallel there! ^_^ I'm glad you enjoy it, and thanks a lot for reviewing!
I love this story already. Such a creative parallel you're drawing, especially with Edmund/Snape, and Dumbledore's sacrifice!<> *scuttling off to read chapter two*
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
Gads, another cliff hanger! I like the lines you are drawing between "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wordrobe" and the Harry Potter story. Very interesting theories you are throwing out here....hummm...you make us think. JKR had said in one of her interviews when asked about Dumbledore's death that Dumbledore was not going to be a "Gandalf and come back to life. She said that dead is dead. Yet Voldemort was suppose to be dead and yet was not. Harry should have been dead but survived. So, unless she is confused about her own line of thinking, she may not have Gandalf in mind, but that doesn't mean that there could be some other "life" for Albus. Besides, the pheonix is his symbol is it not?
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Thanks! I like making people think. ^_^ JKR's comparison to Gandalf really just opened up another can of worms - it's actually one of the things that led to this fic getting written!
Oooh, is this where you start giving hints about what's going on with Ron? Or is he about to encounter Hermione and do something unforgivably stupid causing her to shove him down the stairs and break his neck?Hope to see more of this soon!
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
It may be both before it's over!
I'm working on Chapter 4 now, so it shouldn't be too long. ^_^
Thanks for reviewing!
Hi,The first chapter was really good, I really loved the analogy between Dumbledore/Aslan death. I liked the fact that it's Harry voting for Snape. That in itself was tricky, not because I don't think he could not, because I'm sure He could if it's mean Dumbledore was still alive. So, here I was reading a good fic and than..... well, it became a bit ridiculous. The thing with Ron. Don't take it badly, but if you're going to write a comedy or a parodie you should say it ! Not Mystery/Suspense, Drama, Action/Adventure. Because there is those who read everything and those who read everything apart for the parodie, lol. It was, well, I guess I was just disapointed.Bye ByeMaeve
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Goodness, I'm sorry I dissapointed you!
However, this is NOT a parody. There's a lot more going on with Ron than meets the eye - after all, it would take a lot for him to call someone a Mudblood.
Please, tell me which parts about it that you found 'ridiculous' and I will do my best to either clarify or amend!
Thanks for reviewing!
Though you'd explained the bit of not-speaking hostility in the previous chapter, there's something else to have caused Ron to go on a 'Mudblood' comment.Relevant, perhaps?
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Perhaps. ^_^I thank you for reviewing!
Until you brought this up, I never even thought to notice the connection between "The Lion..." and HPB. Superb! And the fact that the Lion (or rather, Griffin) is the animal form of Gryffindor of which AD was a student, is another excellent point.Funny as well as insightful. “It’s funny as long as it’s not you!” - for those of us growing up (or having grown up) with siblings, it's quite accurate.Very nice point made.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
I am an only child, so I didn't get the benefit of watching to see if it was funny. That's the problem with not having siblings - you never get a scapegoat! Thanks for reviewing!
Whoah! Hello, earth to Ron! So, who put Ron under the influence of...well, something. The blank look.....but obviously nobody caught it because they thought he was just being a git again. As much as I like the premise of the story, the reactions we're seeing, from Harry and Hermione especially, are very OOC. You'd think that after Ron hexed himself trying to defend Hermione from Malfoy calling her a mudblood that it's the last thing he'd say.....and everyone around him would know that. Not flaming....just saying. I am interested to see where this goes.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
I didn't think you were flaming. You do bring up a valid point with the OOC-ness. I guess it's just a matter of perspective. Right now, there's really no proof of anything - and as shown in OotP (among others), Harry doesn't have to have proof before running off on a tangent. I see Hermione having considerably more trouble accepting something that goes against all the evidence. Hopefully, their reactions will become a bit more clear as the story develops. And you're right, Ron probably wouldn't say something like that. ^_^Thanks for reviewing!
This certainly has an original take on Harry's reaction after HBP with the right hints, a role reversal with the Snape-might-be-good stance usually given to Hermione.Ron definitely deserved his comeuppance, although I'm kinda hoping he was right about someone putting him under Imperio. This is the boy who ended up spitting slugs when he tried to hex Malfoy for calling Hermione the same thing.Eagerly waiting to see where you take this.
Response from deathbyshikon (Author of 'Til We Have Faces)
Thanks! I was trying to do something a little different, especially with Harry defending Snape. I can see Harry making leaps in logic like that, but I can't see Hermione doing so unless there's undeniable proof staring her in the face. And for the record, I like Ron. ^.^ He gets a lot more crap than he deserves, I think.
