A response to the Potter_Place Fall prompt challenge: #22. The Weasley twins come across Snape shopping for Potions ingredients. A commotion causes Snape to become distracted, and the twins promptly take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime golden opportunity to slip Snape one of their "experimental" products.

I'm a thirtysomething who is taking a hiatus from full-time web development to stay at home with my kid. I still do a bit of contract and/or volunteer web work, as well as other volunteer work. I do a bit of community theater (musicals, I'm not much for straight plays) as well. HGSS is my favorite ship.
Reviews for A Potionful of Trouble
Ooh yes, the attraction is starting; how lovely. I really do like their idea to get back at the twins--it's quite clever.
That was really nice of Sev to give Hermione a massage. Ron certainly seems the type to try to win her back, but I think he is going to get a surprise. She truly does not see him in that light, so he would be better off to move on.
I love it. The twins are always up to their tricks... I can't wait to see where it gets them and Hermione this time. I really like where this is going! Great job. :)
I can't wait to see what Sev has in store for our two favourite trouble makers.
This was a very enjoyable story! I especially liked the reference to Tribbles and the very inventive Can-Touch Talc!
great story! i love the star trek references. thanks for writing. very funny as well!
Thanks for this amusing tale! I laughed out loud at the office gossip. I had a similar experience once, except that everyone was THIRLLLED to death that little me had a fellow. He wasn't a boyfriend, but try convinicing THEM!
Loved this line:
He stood out as the person who ever-so-politely shoved his way to the front of the line. You stood out because you didn't appear to care, yet everyone knew you could get to the front of the line faster than anyone else if you wanted to."
I'm really surprised at your choice of making Hermione reluctant to participate in Harry and Ginny's wedding. This seems unrealistic, given the Trio's closeness--though I know one of Ron's prime characteristics is jealousy, I just can't see this as big enough to cause her not to be involved... (this opinion might have been influenced by the fact that I strongly dislike my sister-in-law, and she was still a bridesmaid in my wedding).
That being said, I'm enjoying the ride, and am now very curious as to what Snape's up to!
"Why is it that there are some students who seem to need to be parented their entire lives?"
Love that line! So McG. The bits about Slughorn were also very enjoyable. So few people appreciate his character, and I think you've got him down pat.
Plot-wise, this chapter seemed a bit scattered, but that will almost certainly rectify itself once I head on to the next chapter--you do tend to set things up and resolve them, as I've noticed.
Though I'm not a fan of 'twin-speak,' I am very intrigued by the premise of this story! I think your characterization of Snape was quite well-on, and Hermione as an entry-level Ministry worker is more realistic than what most fics have her as. Looking forward to reading more :)
I LOVED IT!!! I just read this entire story in one sitting i couldnt stop. I love your writing style, and look forward to more fics.
Don't apologize for the fluff. It was a very enjoyable read. Life would be depressing if all fics were 50 chapters and 250,000 words of angst. Rhanks for the story.
loved the story wish I could have found it earlier

I'm so glad you liked it!
this story was great. i love star trek and the tribbles was my mothers favorite. thank you for the laughs and the plesant memories of my mother.

What a lovely thing to say - I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Great story with very unique ideas. Excellent plot line, and bonus points for inclusion of the original series of star trek in a harry potter story!
The only suggestion I would make (it is a suggestion, not a complaint or a 'flame') is that you could possibly refer to Fred and George's 'detention' as 'revenge.' The point made with using the theme of giving them a post-school detention is a good one, but the word or concept of revenge could be used to replace the concept of detention later in the story.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
I did stop and think about the word "detention" as I went along, for basically the reason you mention. I ended up choosing to stick with consistency within the story, but I definitely see your point as well. Thanks for the feedback.
I espcially liked the fact that "this story was light on plot and heavy on fluff". I get tired of tension and adventure sometimes. And my own life has plenty of it's own tension, thank you very much. What's better than a "light romance", I ask you? How 'bout a wizarding version of "Meet the Falkers" next time or "Bridget Jone's Diary". Both perfectly respectable light romances, if I may say so. In fact, I would like to place a request for something ridiculously stupid like a wizarding version of "Serority Boys" or "Bubble Boy". When's the last time you laughed till you peed your pants? That's always good for the endorphines! In fact, I would like to make a habit of it so I could use your help. If you've never seen them, it's time you made a trip to the DVD rental store.

I'm glad you liked it - I'm all for "light on plot, heavy on fluff" myself, but I do realize it isn't to everyone's taste. I read romance novels, and I love them, but you have to admit the basic premise is pretty predictable! Nothing wrong with it, though - it still makes the reader happy, and that's what's important. I'm pleased that I could do that for you!
I loved this piece! The pygmy puff scene was hysterical. Your writing was incredible. Great job
Response from TempestOfDreams (Author of A Potionful of Trouble)
Thank you so very much! It was fun to write - especially the Pygmy Puffs. :)
This was a lovely story - I really liked it! I would have liked it to have continued for another chapter or two, so it included the wedding. A sequel would be nice. Or maybe you've already written one? I'll have to check. And I like your idea of the Can-Touch Talc!! That would be quite nice to have for special occasions!
Response from TempestOfDreams (Author of A Potionful of Trouble)
Can-Touch Talc, yes, I wish someone would invent that!
Hmm - I might consider the idea of a one-shot wedding piece to go with this . . . I usually think that prolonged epilogues drag out the end of a story, so I hadn't planned to. However, now that I've had some time away from it, I think I might like to write a wedding night with the Can-Touch Talc. Will have to mull on that one!
Glad you enjoyed the story.
I just found this story and am reading through the chapters - it's great! And I love how you included "Star Trek"... too funny. I'm a big fan of that show too. I'm glad I can keep reading and see what happens next, instead of having to wait for updates!
Response from TempestOfDreams (Author of A Potionful of Trouble)
I'm behind on responding to reviews - but I'm very glad you liked my story. While I've seen plenty of comments about Pygmy Puffs and Tribbles, I'd never seen it in an SS/HG story - had to make it happen!
I've been eagerly reading each chapter as they come, and I can't believe I've yet to give a review!
Fred's scar by SS is a nice touch, and something I can definitely see him doing. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
Response from TempestOfDreams (Author of A Potionful of Trouble)
I'm so glad you're enjoying it! (And the next chapter is finally in the queue. :) ) Thank you for reviewing.
Tempest, this story is moving along so nicely! I really like how you are writing Severus here--his "thawing" toward Hermione (and his justification) is really believable. Great smut, too!
Response from TempestOfDreams (Author of A Potionful of Trouble)
I'm obviously way behind in answering reviews - sorry about that, RL hit me a bit. I'm so glad you find that my Severus is working for you. He's such a great character, but it can be tricky to give him dimension. Glad you enjoy my story!
Must write more my dear! I loved it!Julianna
Response from TempestOfDreams (Author of A Potionful of Trouble)
I'm a bit slower than I wanted to be, but the next chapter is being edited. :) So glad you liked it!
I really love this chaopter . Severus is trying his hardest to be what she wants and needs.I hope it continues.
Response from TempestOfDreams (Author of A Potionful of Trouble)
Glad you enjoyed it! He is indeed trying - and so far, I think he's succeeding.
go Hermione, go!! Damn those boys. . . . they're old enough to worry about their own happiness and mind their own business and keep their noses' out of others! She's got EVERY RIGHT to be selfish and put her own happiness first.
About the wands. . . .LOLOLOL. I knew there was a catch. . . but I have every faith in two of the brightest minds Hogwarts has ever seen.
Response from TempestOfDreams (Author of A Potionful of Trouble)
Of course there was a catch with the wands! The story wouldn't be interesting otherwise! As far as the boys go - I've always thought that to them, everyone has to fit in a particular box, and people who don't fit well get smashed in anyway.
This story continues to be so delightful and funny and just plain lovely. Favorite scene in this chapter: " Severus rested his cheek against the top of her head and closed his eyes, the corners of his lips lifting just a bit as he relaxed." That was just so sweet and warm! Gave me a big grin to visualize it.
Response from TempestOfDreams (Author of A Potionful of Trouble)
I like to think that Severus is softening with Hermione, but hopefully not in a way that's out of character. I'm glad you're still enjoying it!
