I'm a forty-something American woman who is addicted to the SSHG pairing, relatively new to this fandom. I'm also considering starting some original fiction soon...

Of course Hermione had to think to herself if Severus was teasing her. He has a very subtle sense of humor, which would give anyone pause. The teasing could even pass as flirting, in Snape-speak.

Very subtle, but I do believe that is what passes for Snapian teasing. 
As for Pince, it does look like Minerva did a pretty good job of defanging the nasty librarian.
