I'm a forty-something American woman who is addicted to the SSHG pairing, relatively new to this fandom. I'm also considering starting some original fiction soon...
Check out the story I co-wrote with Remarkable -- it's called "Hidden Attractions" and (as soon as it's through the queue) it's archived under the penname remarkable_linlawless.
For those who are interested, I've got two WIPs at my website (which I will eventually post here, but not until I have a complete draft). It's easy and free to join the website, so I hope you'll visit!
I am honored that my story, Witchy Woman, has been selected as a featured story for September 2010. Better yet, this honor came with the very awesome banner at the top of this post!
Here's a couple of banners my friend Atuliel made for the two WIPs at my website:
Reviews for On Veelas, Light and Dark
Waiting for information is not easy, especially at such an emotional time. Glad her parents came home to comfort her in the end. Nice cliff hanger as the owl from HW arrives. Shall look forward to your next part.
Thanks again for posting and writing.

Thank you! Glad you're still enjoying. :)
LOL! Yes, Hermione, get stuck into research instead of ice-cream - less calories - unless you read Thadeus Puddingsworth's Dictionary of Delightfully Devilish Desserts (Munchlot, Slurps & Sons, Big Eatington, UK, 1978) in which case just reading the recipes can add a few pounds. Seriously (!) I love the way you've written Luna - there's always more advice in her words than just the words themselves :o)

Hehehehe. I need that book. Or need to avoid it, perhaps... Thank you! I adore Luna; writing her is often a real challenge, but she's such a delight I can rarely resist. :)
Oh! I have favourited your story in order to keep up to date with its posting.
Great start. Intrigued with how this is going to grow and turn out.
Many thanks for writing. I do like long stories.

Thank you! The plan is for weekly updates, barring some catastrophe (which almost happened last week when my computer crashed -- but I regained access). :)
I love this chapter and am really looking forward to the next.

Dark-haired, ugly and awkwar, you say? Sounds suspiciously like someone we know... :)Looking forward for more!
Response from linlawless (Author of On Veelas, Light and Dark)
Heeeee! It does sound an awful lot like a certain professor, doesn't it? Glad you enjoyed the beginning, and thanks for reviewing! :)
Interesting start, I 'm wondering if perhaps Severus my be a male veela, he would fit the description.
Response from linlawless (Author of On Veelas, Light and Dark)
Hehehe, time will tell, but he really *is* the opposite of blond, beautiful, graceful, and charming, isn't he? ;)
Ah, so this is the story you were talking of! Fascinating start and I look forward to reading more.

Hmm.. So Rons not in love with Gabrielle, or not to the extent he claims anyways? Hmm..
I'm glad that the thought of trying to "fall in love" only had to cross Hermione's mind, for it to be dismissed. No one can choose to fall in love , it just doesn't work that way.
Ron has always wanted to be like his big brothers, I think the biggest attraction for Ron, is the fact that Bill is married to Fleur, not Gabrielle herself.
Severus is already looking better to Hermione, she hasn't noticed yet, but it shouldn't be too long before the penny drops.
I believe Ron described Gabrielle in his letter to Hermione as being "so sodding perfect"?
If what Hermione just read is accurate, then it's not love and it's not "Fate" at all. Given Ron's reaction to Fleur in the past, it sounds to me like Ron may be particularly susceptible to Veela allure. Or in love with the idea of having a Veela on his arm. Time will tell, I guess. Either they'll get to know each other after the fact and deepen their relationship or they'll crash and burn. But that's on them.
As for Hermione and Severus, they do seem to be getting closer, slowly. And that's a good thing. Good relationships don't happen overnight, they grow with time. And that's demonstrably true in both friendship and love.
Well, it's good that Hermione realizes Ron's relationship with Gabrielle isn't as strong as she thought, since her research shows that acquaintances find the Veela perfect. It seems that if Severus is in fact Veela, then Hermione's relationship with him would be genuine.
Thank you for another great update. So, Hermione doesn't think she will fall in love with Severus, how great that we know otherwise:-)) Besides, if she had decided to try to fall in love with him as a experiment, she would have failed, wouldn't she? Much better for her to think she is in control and have the overview, and let us fans know the truth:-))
Loving it so far, will it be finished at all?
As for why Hermione is doing the research, I think she just wants to bury herself in something that will distract her; it just happens to be male Veelas because that was how the conversation with her friends turned. Hermione seized on it because it was a gap in her knowledge, and she hates not knowing things, especially wizarding things that purebloods take for granted. It's one of her insecurities about being a Muggleborn. And maybe, deep down inside, she hopes that learning about Veelas will answer the question "Why did Ron leave me?"I don't think she wants to try to win Ron back, though.
Response from linlawless (Author of On Veelas, Light and Dark)
That is a much clearer explanation than I gave, and very insightful. I do think her insecurity about her attractiveness to men in general and Ron in particular factors in, though I think you're correct that she doesn't want him back...:)
Snape interrupted with a snort. “She got jilted, Minerva. She wasn’t tortured or imprisoned. She hasn’t been hexed, jinxed, or cursed. Her life wasn’t threatened. She wasn’t even the victim of a tragic Polyjuice mishap – this time! She had probably – no, certainly – been through worse before she was a teenager. Leave the woman be, Minerva. Let her do her research in peace.”Spot on!
Response from linlawless (Author of On Veelas, Light and Dark)
Thank you! :)
(smirk)Yes, smothering with their concern actually makes things worse. Thank goodness for Snape and his biting remarks.
Response from linlawless (Author of On Veelas, Light and Dark)
Hehehehe, bet Hermione would never have guessed there would come a day when she would be grateful for his Snape-ishness! Thanks for reviewing! :)
Oh no. I do not hope that Snape will have to make good on that last promise about the coma and apologies. As always I'm enjoing the ride!
Response from linlawless (Author of On Veelas, Light and Dark)
LOL! I'm sure he doesn't expect to, either. :) Glad you're enjoying it, and thank you for the review!
You have to say one thing for Severus Snape...he's definitely mastered the art of the comeback (even if he had to think about it for a moment or two)!
Response from linlawless (Author of On Veelas, Light and Dark)
LOL!!! He's definitely always had a way with words! Thanks for the review! :)
Ah Severus, saving the day by being his sympathetic self as always! ;)
Response from linlawless (Author of On Veelas, Light and Dark)
Oh, yes, he's sooooooo good at that! ;) Thanks for the review! :)
