I picked up the Harry Potter fandom around the time the first movie came out and began writing fanfic early 2005 after discovering the adult online community. I identify most closely with the Slytherins and you will see my taste in writing lends me to writing about Slytherins more often than not. In addition to fanfiction, I also make fanvids on the Harry Potter fandom. I'm a Perfect Imagination acredited beta and am willing to help authors. My main 'ship interests are Snape/OC (never really got into the SS/HG pairing) and LM/any female (with HG as a new favorite). I have dabbled in RL/OC and RL/NT and am okay with those pairings. I generally shy away from slash, just not my thing. For updates on my writing, check out my Live Journal

I'm enjoying this a lot, pheonix. I'm looking forward to he next curevball thrown at them.
Buongiorno mia bellissima amica scrittrice! Ah, these new chapters! I find myself drawn even deeper. Lucius is growing in many ways, not the least of which is in self-knowledge, an often hard won and "hard-to-swallow" medicine. I did find the declaration of mutual affection a bit, not forced exactly, but more like not in keeping with the tension thus far developed; but as a segue to bringing Lucius' sister into the "mix", however, a clever and clean device. So, I await developments with Hermione, now. With her and Lucius' declarations, how will she view and interact with Gilles? What happens now with Harry and Ginny (and others)? When the attempt is made to return to the Hogwarts Board of Governors, will Hermione allow her lingering doubts (about Lucius' possibly using her as a mere stepping-stone back into power and influence) to come full force? What of Elsa? Have we seen the last of her? Waiting... :)Your Constant Reader~Heidi R.

I'm still here and am going through the next chapter. I have had fun with showing Lucius' development from anti-Muggle Death Eater to respectable wizard. It's also been interesting to show how grieving over Narcissa's death and finally coming to terms with the fact that life does go on has helped him grow, too. It will definitely be interesting to see how this mutual declaration changes how they react to others - and of course there will be poor Hermione trying to explain this to her friends. Not an easy pill for them to swallow. I hope to have the next chapter up by Monday at the latest. RL can be such a pain in the butt (kids had 2 weeks off school and family was visiting and we got sucked down to a one car family, which wouldn't have been too bad, but DH's ship was not underway like it should have been entailing much driving around for me as the family chauffuer. LOL
Lucius seriously I know you are trying to be careful but are you really telling me that you aren't sly enough, sneaky enough, Slytherin enough to send Hermione little notes during these few weeks you are going to be a part? Really? Come on! :) Great chapter as always.
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
Oh, he'll send notes, he's just a bit concerned about the lack of physical presence in her life where he thinks a certain other wizard might have the chance to step in. But as he is sneaky, I'm sure he'll figure something out.
The divorce is settled, and all seems well, but I don't like the sound of Skeeta scuttling around the Ministry.

Anywhere there is juicy news to be found, Rita is there. She just can't resist, though the Prophet seems to be using less of her 'news', but when it sells papers something tells me it will be hard for them to resist publishing her version.
Hermione should feel very disappointed that Lucius behaves this platonic! I bet this isn't her definition of romantic feelings^_^Hope they can be together soon!
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
I know, poor Hermione. She thought things would change significantly after the hearing, but they didn't, did they? Lucius who says he doesn't care what others think, really does to a point. If she can be patient, I'm sure it will be rewarded.
Great^_^ Everything will be ok. Can't wait for them to be together......Good luck
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
It sure is looking pretty good, isn't it? I'm sure Hermione can't wait to start this new chapter of her life.
The best part of this chapter was the flash back just because if anyone had forgotten how wrong those two were each other, that was a clue by four to the back of the head. I also really liked your subconscious gravitation that Lucius and Hermione are experiencing towards each other. I don't even think they realize it. It is similar to when they were on vacation but with a more perminant vibe to it. I am curious as to what they are going to do after she moves out. I see caldestene meetings at the library. Thanks for the refresh on the 6 weeks. Good luck with getting everybody in school. :)
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
I'm glad you liked the flashback. I don't always go for that sort of thing, but it seemed a great way to work out how Hermione was going to explain what happened at the hearing without it getting overly tedious. It's been nice watching the slow burn on this relationship as they each try to figure the other out and where they stand. I think that poor Lucius will be a bit lost when she is removed from his life upon moving out. I do think he might try to 'run in' to her. ;) And kiddo 1 is settling in school. Start of term is very hard for her and kiddo 2 I'm going to start the enrollment process for 3 day a week preschool. Hopefully that will go well for him. He's excited about it, but we'll see how it goes when he's left in a strange place without me. Then again, he's gone over to a friend's house to be babysat and was okay with that because there were other kids, so he might do just fine.
Looking forward to reading more. I only saw one mistake, i was so hooked on the story.I assume you meant Nicholas Flamel was an advisor. I believe you wrote fannel....
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
I'm so glad that you are enjoying this and thanks for catching the misspelling. I hope you enjoy the rest of it.
I think Lucius just out manuvoured hims into a co he isn't quite prepared to be in just yet. Yes, Hermione knows he is interested in her as more than just a friend, hurrah. However Lucius know gets to battle his own libido to keep from touching her in a way he shouldn't. Once the hearing is over it will only get worse. I need to go back and read the part with Reg describing the procedure. She has the hearing but then there is a period of time bef she is actually divorced, right?
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
Correct on the latter. There is a six week period between the hearing and the finalizing of the divorce. I figured in this case wizarding Britain would mirror Muggle Britain. And poor Lucius has definitely made his life more difficult. It was easier to maintain the facade of friendship when their feelings weren't out between them.
You have me thinking about this story night and day!!! I am not usually a Hermione/Lucius fan, but dang, I've got it bad. :) I am so glad they finally admitted how they feel. I just hope it doesn't ruin his well-laid plans to keep his distance. Not knowing how the other felt kept the relationship safe. As they say, it's a lot easier to let the cat out of the bag than put it back in.Seriously cannot wait for more. Please update soon!
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
I'm so glad to have turned you into a fan. This was a ship I wasn't sure about at first, but then I read a few that were really well done and became a believer. Hopefully now that it's out in the open between them, it won't become weird between them or obvious to others. I hope to have the next chapter up this week - end of summer vacation and back to school are wreaking havoc with my writing.
So goooooooood that the feelings are mutual! Hope the hearing to come and go soon:-)Good job
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
It has to be a relief to the two of them to know that they weren't imagining things. Hopefully this will not turn into one of those periods where time seems to utterly drag for them. So glad you are enjoying this and hope to have the next chapter up this week (end of summer vacation and back to school are wreaking havoc with writing).
I'm a little worried about Elsa," hell hath no fury " and all that, I hope she knows how to take no for an answer gracefully. I'm glad it's all out in the open between them now.
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
Hopefully Elsa will be the mature 30-something she should be. Of course, there's not much she could do and retain her positon. Something tells me if she went psycho on him, he would see he removed from the family company. At least he shouldn't have to deal with her advances, though something tells me she might avoid him for a while for making a fool of herself. ;) And bigger bonus, he's put his foot in the door for a relationship with Hermione, hopefully edging out Gilles.
I wonder what the Wealseys have up their sleeves for the hearing. Loved the family reunion, little Scorpius seems to have inherited his fair share of Malfoy charm.
I hope Lucius didn't see that, he may get the wrong idea.
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
Yes, he could definitely get the wrong idea from that.

Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
You would imagine there would have to be something, wouldn't you? And what 1 year old isn't charming? Heck, my almost 4 year old still works that charm on everyone he meets. But Scorpius is definitely a Malfoy. LOL
Thank you so much for a great update. I really like that you have added a sister for Lucius, that gives more to the story in my humble oppinion.
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
I'm glad you are enjoying it. I always bemoaned that so many in the wizarding world seemed to be only children whose parents were only children and who seemingly don't have a close relationship with other relatives (granted our view is limited and Nevile and Ron are the only ones who really revealed any additional family, well Sirius). I love the idea that Lucius would have a sister who got exiled for embarrassing her family. It really does add more to him as a character and helps humanize him.
I do a little happy dance every time I see an update. The delicate balance of Lucius's perceived arrogance and vulnerability is endearing and spot on.
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
Even after everything that's happened to him, there are times when he does get a little full of himself, aren't there? This was definitely one of them. I'm so glad you are enjoying this story and hope you continue to do so.
Heat does this Gilles guy want? He has became too sweet, I hope he won't be a obstacle on Hermione and Luvius way.....Good job
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
I'm so glad you are enjoying. Gilles is a bit of an enigma right now, isn't he? Does he want to be more than a friend or is he just one of those guys content to have a female friend? Only time will tell.
Ron does seem to be a one note song doesn't he, the Weasleys' are going to have to do better than that. I loved Felicia telling Connor and Lucius off, like they were a couple of school boys, not that it is all that far from the truth. Hermione is growing so close to Lucius, she can't see it yet, I just hope no one else can, and reports it.
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
Felicia is very prim and proper and does not like it when something upsets what she sees as the proper order of things, and a couple of grown men acting like 12 year olds would be one of those. But hey, Lucius is finally out of his funk. :) The good news on the Lucius/Hermione front is that he realizes that being seen together in public would be a very bad idea, as much as he might want to be seen with her. And Ron's whole world has been thrown upsidedown. Poor lad. He just doesn't know how to cope with this. Kind of like when he went off in a snit in DH.
Hermione is starting to get there, her subconscious has recognized what Lucius is up to. Now she just needs to connect why she doesn't want to tell Lucius about Giles. I wonder if Felicia has invited Elsa to the dinner party hoping to 'help' Lucius out, that could be interesting, sticky, and amusing all at once. Lucius may need to step up his stealth courting once he finds out about Giles.
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
Wouldn't that be something of Felicia to do. LOL Thankfully she tends to be a bit more subtle. And yes, Lucius is definitely going to be concerned about Gilles. He's worked so hard over the months to work his way into Hermione's life. I don't think he would easily let another wizard steal her affection.
Wonderful update, hurrah for it being much earlier than you promised. I love how naturally they are evolving into courting each other. Hermione asking about the upcoming week and Lucius spending every free night with her. I wonder if either of them even realize it. I can't help but feel Ron isn't through and what about the person following Lucius in Paris (or was that the reporter, humm have to think about that.).
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
Of course Lucius realizes it. His behavior is all very calculated. Hermione likely does not consciously realize it. Of course this is the only behavior she has seen from the post-Azkaban Lucius, so that would make it easier for her not to notice it. :) And Ron definitely won't let this go without a fight even though he has to realize they are past the point of no return. His smear piece in the paper really did that in. As to the shadow, you have figured that out.
O my GOD!!!!!!! It looks badly like a real trouble. Has anything happened to Ron? Recently in the most stories i read people commit suicide and I'm getting a paranoia about it, i think everybody is going to kill themselves:-)Pls update soonGood luck mate:-)
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
It is trouble, but I will assuage your fears and tell you not that kind of trouble. I believe in warnings for that sort of thing and while this fic does have some darkness in it, nothing that bad. Next chapter should be up before the end of the week. :) Thanks for reviewing.
Oh shit, what has the little toe-rag done now?
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
LOL This is my new favorite review. LOL I'm so glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read it. The answer will be coming in a few days. :)
The dye is now cast, I hope Ron is not going to be to much of an arse.
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
Well, considering how petulant and moody he's been, I wouldn't hold out hope for him not being too much of an arse, but time will tell.
Oh cliffie!!! Now the question is did someone spot them at Lucius' club or did Ron do something else? Could he (meaning Ron) actually remembered that Hermione and Lucius had been aware of each other while she was on vacation? Is he going to try to label her an adulteress?? Did I tell you that I love Deliah? I find the idea that her fleeing for a reason other than blood politics really interesting. The fact she hasn't ever told her husband who her family is is also really interesting. Great chapter. Now I wait on pins and needles to find out what the paper says.
Response from phoenix (Author of New Beginning)
I always found it odd that so many of Jo's characters were apparently only children. I know it simplifies her already very complex world, but you would think with all the talk about how important being a pureblood and a Malfoy was that Lucius would have had siblings and that it's pretty odd Draco doesn't. And this was such a great way to provide a previously unknown sister for Lucius. Considering she married a humble farmer, I can't blame her for not mentioning much about her family - especially since she probably never expected to hear from them again. As for the cliffie, later this week will be the next chapter. :) Thanks for reviewing.
