Severus Snape returns from the war a shadow of the wizard he was. Hermione Granger returns from the war restless and yearning to taste life in all its flavours. What happens when the proverbial irresistible force meets the immovable object? Told to the tune of Stevenson's A Child's Garden of Verses.

“Besides, you owe me, remember? A thousand times, you said.”I like the way they have shared their truths about how they had felt drawn to each other for so long. The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Let their journey begin.Beth

That's the lovely thing about this pairing - they can go on a great journey without ever leaving their library.

What a wonderful way to start a Teddy story! I was drawn right in to the situation with Hermione and Norton and then Snape's reaction to the return of the vial of Murtlap essence. I nearly teared up when that very same vial fell out of his robes when Hermione was caring for him after the battle. Great oaks from little acorns grow.I'm so glad you're posting your stories here, too. Reading here at TPP is much easier on my eyes. Now I'm off to find out what happens next with my favorite couple.Beth

Thank you, Beffey! I hope you enjoy the story. I actually posted an abridged version of it on LJ, but at the time, it was called Dolores Umbrage, I Love You. Thankfully stgulik showed me the error of my ways and steered me into changing the name!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what is known as intellectual porn, and a HAPPY ENDING (JKR I'm glowering in your general direction!)

" we’re so out of the realm of my experiences right now I might as well be classified as another species." You really have some *fantastic* lines, you know that???

". Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and stand in fear and trembling." This may be one of the best sentences ever written in the history of literature.

Thank you! I'm afraid I cannot take credit for it, but I think as far as Severus Snape is concerned, it is pretty appropriate. When he wants to be, he can be pretty tremble-worthy.

Oh. Wow. Kind of sad and beautiful and in keeping with the poetic inspirations.A question: was the first child a muggle, hence dying of old age before his dad?
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of A Treatise On The Healing Properties of Murtlap)
No, I never really thought about that! He was just one of those people who pass before their parents.

Made me sit and think for a long time.
Should I cry or sigh?...++=
Too bad it's a work night. By the time everyone else here goes to bed it will be too late to find solace with my happy rabbit friend. The lazy asssed adult kid who moved back home never sleeps except in the day.
It's been a while since I've visited mister cotton tail and papa has had broken bits since Lord of the Rings was published. A case of perpetual depression that I mistook for deep and pensive. Alas...I was not Hermione enough to revive said bits. Gods know I tried for the first 10 years. After 33 years I'm still sad about it, too. He does me favors like making my lunch and filling the car with gas hoping we won't ever have to talk about it.
He asked me what I was reading and I told him Snape smut. He he said there was better stuff to read. I told him, "But it's so smutty and romantic!" He tried to tell me that Jules Vern was romantic and I told him salaciously, "When Snape is a poor little abused boy and Hermione needs to make it better, it's romantic." He said, Gerrrf! and asked why it always has to be Hermione? "Because she's the brightest witch of her age, of course!" He just answered he was going to take a bath and go to bed, then left the room. Papa says I'm base. I just laugh evilly.
I'm sorry I didn't get to write reviews for the other chapters yet. I couldn't stop reading and I wanted to finish before my bedtime. I loved it very, very much. I mean no disrespect and hope I don't offend when I say that "D" is a very sweet but naughty muse. The best kind, if you ask me. Goodnight.

Sweetie, now I'm the one who doesn't know what to do or say. I am glad my story brought you pleasure, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I'm sorry you can't talk about things like that, but I'm glad you still have a sense of humour about things and can still communicate. You can never offend me saying lovely things about my Muse. He is all those things you said and more to me. I wish you joy and hope that in some small way I can bring some of that joy to you in my writing. All the best, Teddy Radiator

Wait, he doesn't have a class waiting for him on the other side of the door, does he, LOL? Cause I'm pretty sure they're not coming out anytime soon. They've covered so much ground in such a short span of time, not only physically, but emotionally. No denying they are good for one another. You bring out the worst in me, Severus Snape. And I bring out the best in you.I think this is what makes this pairing work so well, here and always. Another great chapter!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of A Treatise On The Healing Properties of Murtlap)
Thank you! It's one of the reasons I love this pariing so much. They have always made great sense to me. Hermione's not a beat around the bush kinda girl, and she'd either win him or scare him - and in my world, she's gonna win.

Oh, come now, he isn't going to make her choose just one is he? Man, this is abolutely steamy. I think that writing pure and simple smut is not an easy feat, but to infuse it with such emotion and healing and tenderness while not losing the down and dirty hotness of it all is rarely done well. Score one for you. Okay, make it two. This was really good.

Well, now I've gone and drooled all over my keyboard. You are causing me a lot of grief tonight, missy. ;) I am so amazed and thrilled at how very little actually went on physically, and yet it was so erotic and sensual and emotionally good for both of them. If things were this intense just from this encounter, what will it be like when they really get down to business? You paint such a lovely picture with your words, I find myself hanging on every last one.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of A Treatise On The Healing Properties of Murtlap)
I'm very sorry to be giving you such a difficult time of it tonight! ;) Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. I really appreciate them more than you'll ever know.

I find that I can't even properly review your chapters. I can't say what I love about them without just rehashing the entire thing. I am not prone to speechlessness. Damn you, indeed. Off for more ...

Teddy, Teddy, Teddy ... I have read six gazillion pounds of fanfic in my time. How did I never know about you before? If I fail my school classes, or get fired for not coming in to work, or my children get taken away because I sat at the computer rather than feeding them for a week, well, there is no one to blame but you and your great stories. I hope you feel sufficiently guilty :)
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of A Treatise On The Healing Properties of Murtlap)
I am just posting my fics here on TPP - most of it is archived elsewhere, but I'm trying to catch up here! I feel terribly guilty, but in a good way! ;) Thank you so much for your lovely comments.
