In a world where Lord Voldemort defeated Harry Potter and the Order, the Minister for Magic makes Hermione Granger an offer she cannot refuse - become a spokesperson for the new regime, or rot in prison. But Hermione has her own, dangerous agenda. Can she complete her appointed task without running afoul of the law, or the man she despises most - Severus Snape?
Written by stgulik and Teddy Radiator for Droxy. This story was originally commissioned as a TPP Every Flavour Auction gift, but was actually written for the 2012 Summer LJ het_bigbang fest.

Was absolutely delighted to see such a fast update... But reading it just left me wanting more and more... This certainly changes a lot - can't wait to get back to the present and see them with new eyes knowing the backstory! Thank so much again for updating fast!

Ugh! How angsty that last part is! However, do I detect a little hint of a Sempra inspiration there, in the descriptions of how they made love with her hair curling around his waist? LOL!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Droxy's Folly)
I have always said from the very beginning that, when I write Severus and Hermione, it is her Severus and Hermione I see. That's been the way of it since Spellbreaker. When I first saw her Severus and her Hermione, they were the ones my Muse said, "There, see them? That's who you are writing about." I guess that's the way it will always be. I just love her art, and her Severus so much, and I love her Hermione's hair!

That was magnificently heartbreaking. I really like how Hermione and Severus are still recognizable as themselves. They're both capable of so much strength, yet what they've been through has left them grasping desperately at the first sign of contact. You are so, so, so skilled with your characterization of Snape in all your stories.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comments. I always try to give him some different facet, but try to remain true to the character. I see him as really being so vulnerable.

No he shouldn't have called her that night,he was in a state of near madness, from stress;and so was she.

Sometimes it's during our moments of greatest despair we call on those we need the most, and make the biggest mistakes.

Very ture, we have all said things we didn't mean, when tired, sick, or in pain.

That was so sad! To see that they truley did care for, and possibly love, each other and then one thing said tore them apart was heartbreaking. Hopefully they can come back to each other... soon!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Droxy's Folly)
Well, it was a very stressful time for them both, so harsh words get spoken. Hopefully it won't last long... ;)

P.S. Forgot to say, the Chusioning Charm sounds like the best idea in the universe... Why don't we muggles have anything like that? :)

You know? More readers have mentioned that charm - I think we all want one! ;)

This was delicious! So much drama... Snape wearing blue? Nice change! :) It seemed a shame how acrimonious their exchange was, though I understand the author must have reasons for that. I wonder if they are going to bump into each other at St. Mungo's... Then SS will no longer be able to hide how damn noble he is :))). Like all the other reviewers, can't wait to find out what their pre-story was...Thank you so much for updating so fast, too. When you said you were going to do it, you meant it :). This is very Gryffindor of you - in the best possible sense :))). Thanks a lot for this story!

Thank you so much! I don't like to have to wait on a fic, especially if I know it is complete like this one, so I promise to make sure we update promptly. We're just thrilled to bits that you love the story. I promise loads of updates this weekend.

If there was a previous realaitonship, between Severus and Hermione, how could he just leave her to her fate in Azkaban, I know, spy can't blow his cover and all that, but he could have cheked on her.

Well, there are two sides to every story....
Response from mick42 (Reviewer)
I know, it's a knee jerk reaction I guess. Your Severus doesn't seem to be ''evil Snape'', judging by his visits to Ron. I will continue to read, all will become clear in time, I'm sure.

I like the backstory you gave on Shacklebolt. That provided a nice touch to someone I always thought Rowling could have fleshed out and used better. I also thought it was fitting that you kind of made this a political story, being that it's an election year in America. I have one question though, did you think about that infamous picture of Princess Diana when she was blowing kisses at Henry Kissinger, when you wrote those lines? I immediately thought of that photograph when I read that!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Droxy's Folly)
To be perfectly honest, we're not nearly as in depth as it sounds. I am notoriously apolitical, and unless the Hubs fills me in on things he's seen or read, I wouldn't even know it was an election year. I wish I could take the credit you have given me! And unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the photograph you mentioned either. I'm terribly sorry to disappoint!

Snape has an heirloom pin--one of the pieces of the puzzle perhaps? Oh I want to know more about his and Hermione's past relationship. Sounds steamy!!!

loved the story, but I'm really REALLY hoping there is a sequel where they finally kick some Voldy butt??? :) great work, to both of you ladies. :)
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Droxy's Folly)
Thank you so much! We have talked long and hard about a sequel, and hope to start it in the coming year. I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
Such a great story. I think you nailed the tone in creating a dystopian world but avoiding wallowing in angst. Gritty but delectable :)

Thank you so much - I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and Stgulik and I appreciate your sentiments so much. We wanted to depict the society, but leave the reader with a feeling of hope, that somehow the end of the Order was not the End of the Order ;)

There was so much to love about this story, and that was quite a prompt to have to live up to. Which you did magnificently, by the way.Things that I loved overall are that characters like Pansy and Draco were not at all what you would expect, and yet, it wasn't like they were out of character.Voldemort wasn't in the story. That was really refreshing. I am not one who likes Voldemort wins tales, and to show us what the real society would be like afterwards was great. I can image him wanting ultimate power, but to not want to have to do any of the work. Just sit on his throne and rule from afar.Sensitive and emotional Severus. He is often written as made of stone, or if he is allowed to be emotional it is too mushy for my liking. His relationship with Ron was one of my favorite things in this story.I love where this ended. We don't get to see the official happy ending, but come on, with these two working together, we know it will come. On the other hand, there are many questions left unexplored. I think it stands alone just fine, but oh how I would love to know more.I could carry on all night, but I am still suffering from lack of sleep last night (glares at you and your compelling story), and now it is very late again (yep, still glaring). What a wonderfully crafted story. Every moment feels deliberate, nothing excess or pointless. Love, love, loved this. You guys should be very proud of this story.

Thank you - what a wonderful comment. I've enjoyed our correspondence throughout the story, and you certainly didn't disappoint for the final chapter. So much of what you see is stgulik. I'm the emotional one, writing solely from the inspiration of my Muse, and she is the calm, orderly one who pulls everything together, cuts out all the junk, trims the fat, and herself writes the most amazingly beautiful prose. This was so gratifying to create. I think we will work on more stories together; we had too much fun not to do it again. Who knows? We may even write about what happens next! ;) Seriously, thank you for reading and commenting, and most of all, I'm so glad you enjoyed. it.

This entire chapter was intense, whether it was trying to get her warmed up in time, or the awkward conversation about what happened on the bridge and her refusal to return to Azkaban, or their desperate need to become reacquainted with one another.“I’ll make you forget,” he panted, his voice dark and ominous, his eyes like black fire. “There is no one but me. There is nothing but pleasure. This was necessary to fix the wrongs to the past and get them back to good. But, it was such a powerful moment and really stood out for me.I am sad that there is only one more chapter, and I can't for the life of me figure out how you are going to end this thing. Guess I should shut up and go find out.

Oh, I was holding on to hope that it would not be the Lestranges. No such luck. How awful. Thank God she was able to get out of her place before they attacked. And that she had a bout of spontaneous magic. And that Pansy and Snape were at the same place at the same time. And that she is nice enough to tell him the truth. So many things fell in place just right for Hermione to be rescued. I truly had no idea what was going to happen. I certainly didn't expect her to jump. I think that after that harrowing escape/ rescue, they have jumped right ahead in the game. The mounds of I'm sorrys and I love yous that might have needed to be shared may no longer be needed. Off to find out.

I love this chapter - it's almost pure stgulik - I had as much fun reading it as anything I've ever read. For a person who had never written a chase scene, I thought she did great!

LOL! His reaction to the Jelly-Legs Jinx was the same as mine. Stupid fucking baby wand.I'm glad they're dead. I should be ashamed, but I'm not.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Droxy's Folly)
Nah, don't be ashamed. I laughed my arse off at "Locomotor Wibbly!" I didn't realise it is canon. I thought it came from the brilliant mind of stgulik, as did this incredible chase and rescue chapter.
Response from jenidralph (Reviewer)
I knew it was canon, but it was so unexpected. It was like a flashback to pre-sectumsempra Hogwarts hallway hexing. ;)

I still can't quite understand what Severus means to gain from tracking Hermione's past. But who cares, because I love what came of it. Mrs. Hope was great, and I loved the story she told. The description of the place and her welcoming motherly manner made me feel all warm and cozy. Even though the story wasn't a happy one. I like the parallel between this couple and Severus and Hermione. She is rejecting him for completely different reasons, but still, it was very relevant. The ending of this chapter was sweet and sad and hopeful all at once.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Droxy's Folly)
Thank you! I asked stgulik why he tracked her movements. She answered, "Because he's Severus Snape." Which, of course, pretty much explains everything. If you also ask stgulik, she will tell you that Mrs. Hope is my Mary Sue, but I honestly didn't intend it that way, even though I used to own my own tea room and know my Lapsang Souchong from my Ti Quan Yin. The ending of this chapter, is work that I'm probably most proud of in fanfiction writing.
