After the war, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is in a financial bind. Special Ministry worker Hermione Granger is on site with a team of helpers, full of fundraising ideas, and it seems that Headmaster Snape objects to her very presence there. What prizes will be carried away by all those who embark on Miss Granger's madbrained Regency gamble?

Reviews for For Hogwarts: A Regency Gamble
Subversa, I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am with the ending of this tale. So many times I read stories that get off to an amazing start, and then somewhere along the way they start to fall apart, and by the end I really don't care too much what happens. You, once again, have delivered a masterpiece start to finish. There is never a slow moment. The pacing of this in every aspect and along every storyline is perfect. It is packed full of romance, even though the leading couple dragged their feet getting there. But that is what makes their union so wonderful; they've had to work for it. Still, there is enough drama along the way to make it realistic.I'm not a big Regency fan, but you managed to suck me into it, making me wish I were there right along with them. You made this story feel magical, and in a universe where magic already exists, that is saying something. Bravo to you on a job well done.

This was absolutely divine. No need to expound on that.
I am SO sorry to see this come to an end! I've really enjoyed checking for new chapters, and loving the way you drew out the romance to the point of love and not just desire. Wish you had a dozen more like this coming down the queue!

I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to be sorry that it's over. I am writing a new story now that I plan to begin posting in the next couple of weeks.
Utter disaster is really all his fault since he skivved off on all the meetings.
Absolutely lovely, from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Would also love to see a bit more regarding the secondary couples that formed.

Ah, you're like me. There's always something more I want to know about the characters in the stories I read. I think it's safe to say that the secondary couples (except perhaps for Ron and Romilda, who might very well burn themselves out at the rate they're going) lived Happily Ever After®!
These are made from the specifications of Drocksmore Mirthwent...-snorts-

I wondered if you'd catch that! LOL!
Beautiful ending, Subversa. Very true to the characters, Severus remained unsure, yet confident (if such a statement can make sense for anyone, Severus is the person to whom it fits), and Hermione young, yet experienced. I loved how their relationship refused to be rushed and they both thought very carefully about what they are getting into. They have an excellent foundation to make their future lives together work. Thank you for this wonderful story.

I'm glad you appreciated my approach to this particular SSHG romance. Severus was in a particularly good place in this story: the respected headmaster of the school, exonerated of all wrong, comfortable financially. He had a lot to lose by screwing this up. Thank you for your comments!
I throughly enjoyed this story. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, this was *lovely*. You brought them together beautifully. (I'm glad my guess was correct about Hermione going back to Hogwarts!)

Yes, you saw straight to the heart of Save the Magic, didn't you? I want a tee-shirt with that slogan on it! LOL! I very much appreciate all of your comments throughout the story.

Finally! They come to an agreement!! Loved the chapter. Great job!
Oh! YAY! I *LOVE* that they ended the week in Regency fashion, even though the "event" was over. Loved her "Save the Magic" slogan -- glad Severus did, too! Dennis was a hoot -- so excited to be kipping on a sofa! Draco was adorable. I was glad that Ron and Hermione got some closure. *wistful sigh* (Looooooooooved the open-mouthed kiss on Severus's wrist!)
Is there a scheme behind the cards? If so, I'm most happy that the Headmasters' Office can conspire to bring the Headmaster what he most desires. It was a great way of putting Hermione into Severus' arms. I thought he would have to participate to make use of Blaise's costumes, but having Ron loose Hermione in a cards game is a fantastic twist.
He wants to be sure it's not only the romance of the Regency week acting on her senses. Smart chap. :)
How many years did Hermione manage to stay with Ron? It seems to me though that the way you write her is very realistic. There's a plethora of people for whom keeping the status quo is much easier than getting out of an unsatisfactory relationship.
Do I sense a DMHP in here? Harry seems to clearly be gay if I interpret the hints correctly and then Draco being friends with Hermione, I think they might be a match.
Great beginning in this chapter. We received loads of information on many fronts, and I particularly appreciated that this is Severus's POV and thus we don't know what the rift between Hermione and Ron is. Together with Severus, we can appreciate its existence though.
He needs to let himself have some hope. But that's not him at all, is it?
What a wonderful wonderful chapter. I don't even worry that this is the end for them because he won't let her leave until she names the horse, LOL. Truly though, his parting words could be bad, but I have to assume that he is asking to know whether or not her plans involve him. Surely part of his planning for the muggle born students involved her assistance in one way or another. I can't wait to see how it all turns out.
