Seven years after the Final Battle, Severus Snape has been declared dead, and his property has reverted to the Ministry. Desperate to get away from her deadbeat job, Hermione purchases the Prince manor with the intention of renovating it, inheriting with it a rather forlorn house-elf, empty stables, and a well-stocked library. And, to her surprise, the ghost of one of Snape’s ancestors. Or is it?

What's going to happen next? Lovely. I always enjoy the image of Severus playing piano, it just seems right. A very nice chapter. I'm looking forward to the next. Thank you.

Thanks for reading! Chapter seven is almost ready to post.
Oh -- this was *lovely*. I like that he's losing his will to remain ghostly. (Or that it seems to be the case.)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Thank you! Given that observation, I look forward to reading your thoughts on the next chapter...
A very enjoyable story. I am definitely looking forward to more. Severus is lovely and sneaky, and Hermione is trying really hard to get things to work at the manor. Hopefully she has some positive effects. Thank you for sharing. And, my guess for Susan is Susan Sto Helit from Terry Pratchett's Discworld books.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Thank you! So glad you're enjoying it. Susan is actually Ariadne, a real-life fanfic writer for whom this story is being written. Thank you for guessing! I think you're the first to take it to the crossover genre, and that would be most interesting.
Hi - at the risk of being really needy.... Any chance of an update?!! Sx
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
LOL - just got around to this and I know you've read chapter six. But, I'm hoping to get chapter seven finished within the next 2-3 weeks.
Hermione is getting so close to the truth!
Blaise is a colourful character :)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
I think so, too. :-)
Yay, thanks for the update!Too funny with the Le Creuset - can Blaise come and buy a full set for me??I can't help but wonder how long it'll be before Severus slips up in his ruse as Edmund.Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

! So glad you're enjoying it!
That'll teach him not to tell fibs! :)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
LOL! Again, one hopes.
Yay - I've been so looking forward to an update! Susan... hmm. I want to say she's either Subversa or Droxy, but I'm not sure... Anyhow, that's how I saw her!Whoever she is, I'm so glad to see a new chapter. This is one of those 'gosh, what's going to happen next' stories, and I'm right there now!.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Both lovely ways to see her - she is, however, Ariadne. Good guesses! So very glad to have you reading the story. :-)
Congrats! on your marriage! :) I am very pleased you have returned to this. I enjoy this story very much.I know very well how real life can side-track creativity - I hope you are getting back on track and finding balance. And I certainly hope to see more soon! :)

! Life is hectic at the moment but this always feel like a reprieve (a glorious reprieve!) so hopefully the next chapter will be up in a more timely fashion.
Well, if it was Susan Bones, Hermione would know her. So I've no clue. LOL So, I'll just review the chapter. I was really glad to see an update, and I really liked it. I liked how Severus chastised her about her feelings towards those who'd let Lyonesse fall into disrepair. And his curiosity about Hermione's relationship with Blaise... hmmm... Excellent update!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
LOL! You're thinking literally (which I like!) but Susan's a cameo character rather than an HP-verse character. So very glad that you're enjoying the story so far. Thank you for reading!
I have no clue. Droxy? Susan isn't a red head, so not Irish. Annie? Great chapter, by the way.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Ariadne. :-) Good guesses, though! Glad you're enjoying it.
Welcome back, and congratulations on the life events. So glad you've updated, it's a lovely and unique tale.my money's on Susan being Susan Bones, and I'm guessing she's keeping an eye on Hermione for some reason, or she too it hiding out.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Susan's a cameo, not a HP verse character, but good guess! Thanks so much ffor reading; I'm glad people are still enjoying the story after all this time.
*waves to Rhi*
I've just got up to speed on your wonderful story, and I think Ari is a fabulously fortunate TPP Auction winner. She's getting a great return on her investment. All of us are very blessed that we can share in her good fortune. Here are a few thoughts I had as I read these first five chapters:
• Mr. Brown is a very insecure, micro-managing boss (and father), and Mr. Goetz is a shifty, lying so-and-so who is up to no good. Mr. Goetz's secretary could get herself in a lot of trouble if it ever came to light that she was "carrying water" (and a few other things) for Mr. Brown.... not to mention what sort of plague Mrs. Brown might choose to visit upon her wandering husband's head if she found out.
• Mr. Goetz's threat to Hermione that for the term of her tenancy "any items of value will revert to the Ministry" really sent my eyebrows toward my forehead. Hummm... that puffed up schemer! The red flags went up when Pip asked Hermione if she was "wanting the ledgers? Because Pip is not knowing where the ledgers is.” The minute the elf realized that Miss didn't know a thing about the ledgers, he was jumping for joy and taking her on a whirlwind tour of the manor. “Pip is taking Miss Hermione on a tour of the house. We is going now,” he said. “Pip is being so lonely, Pip is excited to tell Miss about the house!” I felt my heart breaking for the dear house-elf.
• I think someone has been grilling Pip about the Prince family's wealth. The Head of Magical Properties and Estates is hoping to get his grubby hands on what's left of the Prince Estate. If Severus ever finds out about that he's going to blow a gasket.
• I adored the way Hermione saw "a ghost riding an ethereally white horse. The ghost looked like Snape."
• I love Severus' plan to learn as much as he can and keep watch on Hermione by pretending to be the ghost of his ancestor, Edmund Prince. One of the most intriguing mysteries is what happened to Edmund Prince and Hyacinth Grey. I'm sure there is a great story here, too.
• Severus has seemingly painted himself into a corner by pretending to be Edmund, but I can't really blame him for trying to remain out of sight and out of mind. Who knew Hermione would come to live at Lyonesse Hall? He hardly had time to create a more convenient ruse, did he? But now he has to try to juggle being Severus Snape, Edmund Prince, and Lionel Smith. *chuckles* "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive." Susan at the Yarn Emporium knows him as Lionel Smith. Her niece Caroline works for him in his herbal shop.
• For some reason that Hermione couldn't name, she bought sage green yarn. Very apropos.
• I laughed out loud when Hermione realized that some of the potions ingredients were arranged like they would be in a Wizarding apothecary. She is on the scent now and Severus know it: “She’s a bloodhound.”
• I'm wondering if the book Severus found such comfort in is about Edmund and Hyacinth? This book, the one he had found on one of his last visits to his grandfather, the one that reminded that perhaps he was not alone in his experience, that there were those who understood. This book must contain something very important– could it be a copy of the family genealogy that refused to reveal itself to Hermione? No? Could it be Edmund's diary?
I have love reading every word, and I can't wait to read what happens next. Well done!Beth

I have been terribly remiss in responding to reviews, and I'm sorry to have taken so long getting to this gem of yours. *hugs you* You leave such wonderful reviews, my friend, and your observations here are insightful ... you'll forgive me if I remain mum on many subjects. :-)
I have no idea about Susan's identity, but I'm sure that getting an email with an update of this story was a nice surprise. Wishing you many flowing words!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Thanks so much,
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
! Indeed, the words, they flow - I'm 2000 words into chapter six...
Lovely story, developing at a delicious pace. Really enjoyed reading Sage because of the honesty of your writing and the unflinching way you show a relationship that is so flawed; this fic is more mystery and romp but it is also really enjoyable. Thanks for updating and I hope there is more to come soon. Can't wait for Hermione to crack the secrets! X
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Thank you so much,
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
! You're right, this is much more of a romp - it's quite different from anything I've written, really, and that makes it rather fun. I am so glad that you're along for the ride. Take care!
YAy yarn store! Sorry, just had to get that out. Really liked the chapter and glad you are updating. Can't wait to see what happens wtih them.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
LOL! I don't knit but have plenty of friends who do, and so I was rather paranoid about messing up the yarn store somehow. Glad it didn't disappoint. :-)
Having read all your posted stories and none was ever abandend, therefor I hoped that this story would eventually be continued. And, I am very happy to finally see Chapter 5. It is a great story, and I am looking forward to the next chapters.I also want to wish you all the happiness in your married life.

YOU'RE BACK AND I'M EVER SO GRATEFUL. I was terrified that this story had been abandoned. Love this chapter. Love you for writing this. Thank you! :)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
So glad you're still enjoying it! And no, it was never abandoned; I have never *not* finished a story, and this is no exception, no matter how long updates take. :-)
Lionel seems a popular chap. :)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Indeed. :-)
Bloodhound is back on his trail, but oh is she going to be embarrassed when she finds out who Lionel and Edmund are.No need to apologize for long posting delay. You were very busy with wedding, wedding visitors, Exchange, and getting used to married life. Now that you've been married all of... two months?... you are an expert. Thanks for the new chapter!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
~snrt~ Inorite? I'll settle for settling back into a routine! :-) Glad you're still reading.
