Seven years after the Final Battle, Severus Snape has been declared dead, and his property has reverted to the Ministry. Desperate to get away from her deadbeat job, Hermione purchases the Prince manor with the intention of renovating it, inheriting with it a rather forlorn house-elf, empty stables, and a well-stocked library. And, to her surprise, the ghost of one of Snape’s ancestors. Or is it?

Thank you!
Thank you for the update! Well played with the reluctantly besotted pair.I like how the house and paintings are on Hermione's side. Will the house be the one to reveal the Snape secret to Hermione? Afterall, the house is under no orders or obligation to keep Severus's identity or life a secret.Oh, I so look forward to seeing Hermione's reaction when she finds out that not only is Severus alive, but he's pretending to be Edmund. He's really going to catch it then!

Reluctantly besotted - indeed! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. You'll forgive me if I remain mum re: your questions. :-)
Love it!! It's going to be interesting to see how Severus and Hermione's relationship progresses. Please update soon!!!

Thank you! So glad you're enjoying it.
Edmund is not Professor Snape. Edmund is not Professor Snape. Edmund is not——ahhhh. I wonder what her first reaction will be once that cat is out of the bag? Hopefully all will turn out nicely, but I imagine that he will have to do some groveling before she gets over his ruse. LOL!The conversation she recalled having with Minerva after the final battle nearly broke my heart. She is having a hard time coming to terms with Severus' death, and I very much want her to see through Severus' ghostly disguise... but I'm also loving the bittersweet waltz that they are dancing while the magic of the Manor and its Portraits works on both of them.I'm still wondering why Charlotte directed Hermione's attention to Edmund Prince? Charlotte certainly has an axe to grind, and I'm so happy that Anna was there to get Hermione's attention and soothe her with words of wisdom: “Have faith, child.” Yes, Hermione, have faith. In yourself and in Severus. And in Subversa as Anna. She won't steer you wrong. I loved Subversa's cameo. Well done!I know Severus was taking a reckless chance venturing to the Manor in his drunken and un-Potioned state, but it thrilled me that he would do that just to be able to see Hermione and that the fires in the Manor "the fires in the library practically roared their approval." It was even better that Hermione sensed him there. Woo hoo! I'm loving this story!BethPS- I'm very happy that the doctors at the genius bar were able to wake up your laptop!!!

I'm so glad you're loving it! You loving it puts a HUGE smile on my face (and reading on your bday! you are such a love). I love that you called it a bittersweet waltz, and that you love Subversa as Anna, and that the fires roared, and you are just lovely. How much can I use the word love or a variation thereof in a response here? *squish*
ohh this is so sweet !! shes overworking hes reckless as ever lol and i see Subversa's cameo so neato!!!
Oh, finally another great chapter. Please keep up dating.

Thanks!
Oh, no! You've left me on a cliffhanger AGAIN!!! Blast! But oooh, such developments as we've had! Gosh. It's only a matter of time before Hermione figures out the truth, but how has it lasted this long? Sure, Snape's able to potion himself to look like a spirit, but Hermione knows the difference, doesn't she? Didn't they spend all that time (in Snape's DADA class, no less, right) distinguishing the difference between a ghost and an Inferius? But oooh, I'm looking so forward to them both coming together as their real selves and finding some comfort after the War (at least, I hope that's the vein this story is traveling down - and if it isn't, well, I'll deal with that when we get there). Onward, good author!!

*grins* So very glad you enjoyed this installment. You'll forgive me if I remain mum re: your questions ... this kind of review is a treat to read.
Severus is so sneaky! I am looking forward to Hermione making repairs and improvements to the property. It will be like magical HGTV. Woot!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
YOU ARE READING I AM SO HAPPY! Can't wait to hear what you think, dear!
This--IS SO--romantic. What fun!
Loved HGs reaction to Charlotte. Canvas, meet knife. LOL
Sounds like HG is going to have the house all fixed up pretty soon. Clearly, the house approves. =)
Alas, poor HG thinks she's falling in love with a ghost. The "ghost" is falling in love with Hermione, and I still wait for when she busts him on his charade.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
So glad you're enjoying it. I love Charlotte, and I love Hermione's ruthlessness. And I love how much you anticipate the Illusion Bust (TM) with every chapter. *g
Hee I thought that portrait sounded familiar!Well done darling I have so missed diving into this world.I think Severus is starting to crack. First comes looking then, touching.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
*grins* So glad you're enjoying it, hon. I am in the process of revising chapter eight; hoping to have it done soon.
hey,
this is a really nice story. And you keep surprising me. Is there any chance that Lyonesse will appear later on? I'd really like to read your turn on that particular myth ^^ Actually that was the first thing I thought about when I read the title.
Lets have some cookies and coffee ^^
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
*gratefully accepts coffee and cookies* So very glad you're enjoying it! Glad to have you reading.
Oh, no! It stops here? I just discovered this story tonight (this morning?) and am writing you now at 2:36 in the morning to tell you what you already know--how wonderful it is.I am so grateful that despite upcoming (now past??) marriage and the busyness of school and all the other affairs of RL that you have been able to bless us with another gift of your creativity in this story.I love your "rakish" Snape, and the earnest, seeking Hermione, and can't wait to enjoy all future chapters as she finds what her heart seeks.Update as you can (and hoping it's soon!)--Love,CM
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
That kind of late-night reading is the absolute best kind of compliment - I love doing that with stories and am always tickled when folks say they've done it with mine. I'm so very glad you've enjoyed it thus far. And re: an update, I think you will get your wish sooner rather than later. *grins*
Couldn't just go knock on the door and say, "Good morning, Miss Granger. As you can see I'm alive, and I'd be jolly appreciative if you'd keep that to yourself. Super-dooper. Well, best be getting along now. Tootles." could he? No? Oh, well. just a thought. :D
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
LOL! Love it!
Yeah! Cute chapter. Poor Hermione and silly Severus. I enjoyed reading about them both coming to realize how much they miss the other person, even if Hermione does think Severus is Edmund. Bringing back Charlotte was fun, I'm hoping to see what she does once Hermione is Mistress. Looking forward to the next chapter. Thank you.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Thank you! Poor Hermione and Silly Severus, indeed.
Subversa in diadem and jewels -- loverly!! Glad that Severus had at least one nice ancestress. And glad he has now seen Hermione's longing for him. I just hope she doesn't get too furious at him when she learns the truth. Thank you for updating!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Maybe it's her love for regency, but when I decided to put her in a portrait, she had to be regal and glorious. And I'm so glad you enjoyed the update.
Oh, goodie! An update! I love it! Is Subversa's portrait Anna or Charlotte? I've never met the lady, but I love her stories, too. ^_^
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Oh, she's Anna - I would never make one of my readers such a vindictive person, unless, of course, they would be amused by that sort of thing. :-) I'm quite glad you enjoyed it!
This was a fabulous chapter, just chock full of action. I'm so glad to see Hermione finish her research and get down to the business of renovation. Sometimes I think she's absorbed in research simply to avoid having to make decisions and do something! This UST is getting hot! *fans self* Hermione fancies Edward/Severus. Severus fancies Hermione... oy! I can only imagine the mayhem if it's ever revealed that Severus is alive and speaking to her in the guise of his dead relative. She'll be hexing first then asking questions later... uh, if my supposition is correct. Love Subversa's cameo!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
*squishes you* Thank you, dear. So glad you enjoyed it! *keeps mum re: your supposition...*
After your promise that this chapter would be up soon I was just wondering how long it would take to get through the queu but it's already here! I am so glad that both the manor and the portraits seem to warm up to her stay and her efforts to restore the place in it's former grandor. And it's nice to see that Hermione and Snape are both experiencing they are drawn to each other, even if he is too stubborn to admit it yet. And really, if he thinks of her as an insolent girl, he could brace himself for her reaction when she finds out he has played ghost with her.I must admit that I am not sure yet if it is a good or a bad thing the manor is decorating itself so opulently while Hermione still hasn't the legal ownership of it. I don't know what the ministery officials will think about it and if this display of both her power and the richess of the manor can put her in danger. There are still these ledgers you hinted at earlier that might have to do with some kind of hidden fortune as well, other than the richess the manor use for it's decoration right now and it's clear that the ministry doesn't expect her to stay in the first place. How much time does she have for her temporary lease to end? I have lost track of time a bit, but I guess she currently lives at about a month at the manor, which means, if I remember well, she has two more months before the ministry allows her to buy?Well, I am curious how things will unfold and how her relationship with Edward will evolve.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
I'm so glad you're enjoying it; your reviews are always so lovely. It was interesting to read your thoughts re: the manor's reaction to Hermione ... *keeps mum about the future* And yes, she's been there 3-4 weeks - I'm going to go back and check my timeline, but it's around there.
Now, we're getting somewhere! But how will Hermione feel, chapters down the road when Severus has to confess? Ooh, I see it coming, and it's going to be a rough one!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
That is the question! Thanks for reading, dear.
Thank you for the update, I'm doing my happy dance. I went back and re-read from the beginning to refresh my memory and was so glad that I did. I love this story and look forward to more updates. :-)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Squee! You and me both! So glad you are enjoying it.
I looooved the way the manor rejoiced in her work. It was very sweet and a tad bittersweet, I think. LOVED her chat with the portraits. Seems they don't approve of Severus's behaviour (choosing to act as a ghost instead of wooing her properly). It also seems that the portraits are warming up to her. I guess her love for their home helps. :)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
Sweet and bittersweet, definitely. Thanks so much for the lovely review; I'm so pleased that you're enjoying it!
Thank you for a wonderful update, I love this story and a new chapter really makes my day.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
And thank you for following the story and always letting me know what you think. :-)
Coffee down the cleavage. Not a good look! :)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
No, it is not!
He'd better tell her before she works it out for herself. :)
Response from lady_rhian (Author of The Tenant of Lyonesse Hall)
One would hope... :-) Thanks for reading, sunny!
