War is hell, and the aftermath is often the most hellish part of all. Having lost everyone she most loves, Hermione Granger is only a shell of the woman she had been. Devastated by loss and guilt, Hermione draws the attention of Severus Snape with a random utterance.

I like clubs like the jam of the month club. I always want to sign up for them. Sadly the clubs tend to be a bit spendy don't they? Very sad.
Oh I want to know more about the war orphan book Hermione was reading. That little detail you threw out captured my attention. Perhaps Hermione can adopt two little boys, name them Larry and Tom and live happily ever after eating jam with Severus?
I adore this. You convey Hermione's survivor's guilt so very well. It hurts to see her suffer so much, and Snape seems to be the only one who is able to understand what she is going through, and that she needs to knock on that door.
Your Snape is extremely delectable.
I love this story between 'owned' and Aurette's of muggles and magic I don't know what to do with myself.
Sigh. SO good! Well played, Snape, well played. I love how psychological this fic is. It really causes me to think and reflect on what I have read; trying to wade through the characters' motives and emotions, etc. I love that Snape is not dominantly dragging Hermione along behind him--even if it would temporarily make them both happier. I love that he is willing to go through some anxiety and misery for her sake, as he knows that when she is able to "knock" of her own volition it will bring about a stronger and more satisfactory resolution. So well written! You've handled this chaper masterfully!
I *knew* there should be a new chapter uploaded on TPP!
This story is growing over me. I don't know if I'm seeing too much dark here, despite what it may seem; but I'm reading it in the sense that Snape is not entirely altruistic in what he does, that he wants to exercise a power - albeit subtle - on Hermione, beginning with her declaration that she wished to be owned. I'm sensing a very slight manipulation here - or am I wrong?
The pampering sounded wonderful. Everything was going so well. Shoot. I am thinking Snape will be insistent that Hermione take some inititive in this newly forming relationship. He must be sure this is what she really wants. In addition, there are those who might accuse him of taking advantage of a vulnerable young woman; namely Percy, if he ends up failing to gain Hermione's affection.
Come on Subby....she's "only supposed to blow the bloody doors off"....I mean she did it for Sirius Black in the tower cell. Could she not do the same for Severus? Seriously loving this. Best wishes, Love Ali xxx.
I'm glad to see Hermione's realising and seeing Severus as a man now, instead of just her former Professor.
For him to "own" her she has to fully relinquish herself to him; he can't just lead her along without her consent. She has to be willing and has to knock to ask him to accept her. Brilliantly handled.
I know this story is more from Hermione's perspective, but will we see any of the story from Snape's perspective? It must have tormented him to the same degree knowing she's outside of his door sobbing her heart out. (We already know he was agonising and waiting for her before the party.)
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
poor hermione. I'm glad she could enjoy her spa day. I'm enjoying this story and look forward to more chapters!
This is SO sad. Where is our brave little Gryffindor? I'm sure Snape knows she is there. Is this a bit of tough love? Is he insisting she find the inner strength to knock before he opens the door?
EEek, how can you leave us here? I will now snivel and whine.
Wonderful chapter - clever Snape to tip of the house-elves how to get Hermione to go. Love the quiet, strong, supportive Snape. He obviously knows what Hermione needs, but it's so sad.
I love your story! Well done!
She needs to take responsibility and knock. He won't allow her to abdicate that responsibility. Am I close? :)
This is such a touching story. Severus' treatment of Hermione is so gentle. I keep expecting intensity and urgency, but this is much better. He is drawing her out at her own pace which is obviously what she needs. Of course it is only obvious once it happens (I hope that makes sense). The story is well written and I look forward to your next chapter. Thanks for sharing, JoAnne
Well, she had a small breakthrough. That's a start. I wish she would just knock on that door.
Why wouldn’t he open the door, if he knew she was standing here, needing him?
I'm sure you know that you've encapsulated the thoughts of your readership in that sentence. But, of course, Severus needs to know that she is coming to him totally of her free will. (or something like that) Your Severus is perfect in this chapter. Who wouldn't want to be owned by him?
Another fantastic chapter! Higgy and Piggy were adorable. There are plenty of people who would suggest that Hermione go to a day spa, but only one who understands the need to make the experience non-threatening. Getting the place so that she was alone and completely pampered in a low-key manner couldn't have been cheap or easy. I suspect to a certain someone it was all worth it.
Her excitement at wearing the dress- and actually wanting to, not feeling obligated- made me so happy for her. We are starting to see little changes in her, so subtle that most will probably not notice for awhile. I actually liked that she endured the party with little stress, but couldn't bring herself to knock on Severus' door. It tells me that he is much more important to her than any of them. And I suspect that he again knows that she is out there but refuses to let her in until she knocks. He seems to know what he is doing so far, so I have total confidence in him and his methods. I feel for her so much as she is puddled outside his door, tears falling down. It will be such as joyous, monumental occasion though when she has the confidence and courage to knock. I look very forward to it.
So sad... but very good
Drat!!! I suspect Severus provided her with the spa day (yay!) and perhaps even the blue dress. She had a wonderful day, a tolerable evening at the party, a nap, and all she had to do was knock on his door. BUT SHE DIDN'T KNOCK!!!! Is Severus deliberately refusing to open the door unless she knocks 'cos it's "good for her" or something?? Argh! Thank you for the new chapter!! Have a wonderful V-Day with SubHub tomorrow!
:( so sad and tragic, at least so far. poor hermione. at least there was a little progress, but it hurts to see her like this.
You just want to kneel down, and scoop her up to rock her. Poor thing. Thank goodness Severus has taken interest in her, I'm sure she'd have wthered away if he hadn't. To knock means taking responsibility for your actions and their outcome, which she is just not ready for it seems. Too much, yet.
Your Severus is written so well. Brava!
Thank you again for sharing~Elou
I was delighted to see your update.
Oh, my, she was so brave to get through the whole ordeal of the party, why can't she just knock on the damn door. Or why can't he just open it! (I know there are very good reasons why, but it's driving me mad!)
Loved Higgy and Piggy and the spa day, I want one too. :)
Oh, my! So very hopeful a day to end in such a crushing way. She has come so far, yet the simple act of knocking is beyond her. Snape seems to know what he's doing, but my heart goes out to Hermione as she finds her way back to life. She has to take some action on her own.Knock, Hermione! Please, knock!

You're spot on, darling. Thank you!
tonight, she could go again to Snape’s door … and knock - yes, she could. In fact, she should! And zomg, Higgy and Piggy? And their outfits! So adorable! I love them. The spa is precisely what Hermione needed, the perfect environment in which to relax, and dare I guess who provided that for her? This line: He was male—muscle, bone, and sinew—testosterone and temptation. - breathtaking. Literally took my breath away and made my mouth water. You do have a way of making us all fall in love with Snape. :-)And dammit, Hermione! KNOCK! That last bit is so agonizingly well written, though, I can hardly begrudge you the build-up. :-)

The temptation line made my mouth water - but then, we all know how I feel about Severus. It is very hard for poor Hermione ... she wants to do it, but her want and her can't haven't sorted themselves out in her favour, yet.
Ohhhhhhhhh. I loved the spa day. And the last line - beautifully heartwrenching. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for the kind words! I think we could all use a day at The Sanctuary ...
