Severus Snape receives a ransom note. The only problem is, he isn't entirely sure to whom it refers ... the love of his life??

He very nearly blew it. Thank goodness for Gryffindor spunk! :D
RAWR. *fans self What a fabulous dance they danced in this last chapter. Tentative and hopeful. Yearning and fearing. Ultimately, both brave enough to take the steps towards each other that brought them together at last. So wonderful. So well done.
Brava!
I love strong, commanding Severus!
Yay for him being outside the elevator when she got to their floor.
Belissima, and I am content.
I only now am reading this divine story, and lucky me, I got to read it when it's complete. Oh, the glory of a subversa story, with subhub inspiration!
Brava! Bravo!
Oh well done Subversa. I read on your LJ this morning that you had sent it to the beta. What a lovely ending and story. Hopefully from all of your fangirls that your muse (and subhubs) keeps coming up with your special type of magic.
Perfect!
Warmest regards,
Fizzabella
Would he wear a silly print shirt, a floppy straw hat, and flip-flops? Would he wear a swim suit? Would he splash with her in the surf? Oh, the limitless possibilities!
Oh, the possibilites, indeed!
~Sighs happily while pondering those possibilities.~
‘Then I am … entirely at your disposal,’ he purred,
~Swoons dead away.~
‘I’m going up to our room now,’ she said, looking fearlessly into his eyes. ‘You’ll pay for our meal, and you’ll come up, too—either to get your things and break my heart, or to stay, and make me happier than I’ve ever been.’
Whoa! Gryffindor courage at its finest! That most definitely needs to be rewarded and Severus in reward mode does not disappoint!
~Sighs contentedly at the happy ever after.~
Ah ha, not Hogwarts: A History. A Holidaymakers Guide to Antigua is much better.I'm impressed with Severus' ability to create useful spells. These two are very specific and very useful. I wonder where he used to escape when the Marauders were after him?Being in the index may not offer as many diversions as, say Antigua, but without those diversions perhaps they will find other occupations to while away the hours until their reinforcements arrive.Thank you for this crackling good update. Subversa and SubHub are a great story telling team!Beth

Awww, thank you, Beth! If Hermione had chosen a map, they would not have been *in* that country, but they would have had more room to move around, instead of being stuck between two lines of text.I loved that so many of y'all thought she might have grabbed Hogwarts: A History. It made me laugh with delight!
Trapped in an index. Oh, the horrors! The least she could have done was choose a map. *grin* So now they have to wait until morning for reinforcements? What reinforcements? Who did Snape call? Retriever Busters? ^_^
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
Retriever Busters!
Trapped in the INDEX of a book! Now I've heard everything. You do have a way of twisting the mundane, don't you?
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
Well, when you put it that way ...Yeah, I love to look for every possible way to torture Severus Snape. It's my favorite past-time!
All that time to themselves with nowhere else to go or much to do... Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Fabulous spell! and an excellent opportunity for her to fall asleep upon his shoulder. I totally agree that he could levitate her and fight off the captors at the same time; perhaps Severus will understand the compliment to him. Thanks for the new chapter!! This is better than a Halloween candy bar.
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
Aww, I'm glad you liked the chapter, J-bug. It's better than a candy bar and no carbs! Can't beat that! It's totally a good excuse for falling asleep on him. Thank you!
You are making it really difficult for me to point out the things that I like most about each chapter when I love every minute of them. This continues to be original and fun. I love the trust that Hermione has in Severus, and enjoyed his shocked reaction to his seemingly rhetorical question of his ability to help her escape and fight simultaneously. And by all means, she should utilize her drugged state to snuggle up close to him.He takes such good care of her, while still staying true to his character. I love that she landed them in the index! Guess he will give her more specific instructions next time. Or, if things go well while confined, maybe he won't. A very inventive spell which hopefully will produce the results desired by myself, Hermione, and while he may not entirely know it yet, Severus, himself. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
He really should have given her more specific instructions! She would have done anything he asked her to do. Silly man, thinking she could read his mind ...You and I have the same notion of what will make Severus happy!
As if she had any doubt as to who would rescue her. And now Hermione's stuck for hours in a tight space with her hero. What ever will she do besides fall asleep? And I would consider it a demotion to go from dimwit to fuckwit. What were they thinking? They must have missed the DE lecture on stealth.
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
Yeah, my Junior DEs are not very bright ones. They probably failed Stealth and Tracking, like poor Tonks almost did! I think Hermione will put her time to the best use she can think of in her current condition!
I'm so glad Severus rescued Hermione. Hm, and now they're stuck together in a rather close space... ~iz intrigued~
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
Hee. Whatevah will they do?
Trapped in an index with Severus. Interesting...Could she take the vacation book out of her pocket and they go into that book from the index? That would make for a more romantic location. Although I'm sure they could find some way to make their small room more romantic. :)
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
I don't think Severus has ever attempted to go into a book while within a book, and he definitely won't try it for the first time with an impaired Hermione in his keeping. It's an excellent question, though. Romance is all in the attitude, right??
I love the archives and the Map! ~runs to next chapter~
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
~squees~I'm so glad you like it!
Well, even if they are staying the whole night, I would have climbed out of the atlas and stepped in again at a nice map of a tropical island or so..Being stucked in the index is something to tease her about in the years to come.Very funny developments.. hope you'll update soon.
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
The reason they can't step out of the book to change spots is because the DEs are in the room where their book is located. A map would have given them more room to move around, but it wouldn't put them actually in that location - just in a spot more roomy than stuck between two lines of text! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. More to come soon!
Response from orlando switch (Reviewer)
But surely the DEs aren't staying the whole night in this room, so they might be able to leave the book and jump in again when they have left?Which brings me to a second question: How does Snape know while being in the book that the room is clear and safe again? Can they hear the people in the room while being in this book? It's a pity they wouldn't end up in the real place on the map when they would have chosen a map instead of the index. It sounds a bit like being in a larger room with photo wallpaper of the actual view of the place on the map. Though that can be romantic too of course. :-)O and I forgot to tell you, but one other thing I like very much is the way you vocalize Snape's thoughts. They are very much in character but with a funny touch and I know it's a very thin line between 'funny' and 'over the top'. You are very good at funny.
Ooh. Interesting twist. A heroic Snape confined with a drugged Hermione? This can only end well!
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
Giggle-Snort.Yes, we Snape fans have very strange ideas about what will make Our Hero a Happy Man!
Ha! Stuck in an index with Severus! I've never seen that before!
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
~preens~I like to be original.
Very intriguing beginning, and I love Snape having reading glasses. ~dashes to next chapter~
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
I know!!! SubHub got some reading glasses recently and I lose my train of thought ever time he puts them on ...
Was it a promotion or demotion to move from dimwit to fuckwit?Based on all the evidence I have gathered, the terms are not mutually exclusive. Everyone I've known who fit one could move with ease into the other! Sad, isn't it?~Squees at the rescue of Hermione.~I adore Hermione's total trust and admiration of Snape. From his reaction, I do believe he could use a lot more of that in his life. So they are stuck in an index until morning, eh? Whatever will they do? she twined her arm with his, as if to hold her pillow closer.Looks like Hermione has a plan!~Sighs contentedly.~
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
~grins~You and I have similar ideas regarding the way they can use their time ...
Oh yah your back with a ss/hg fic. I haven't even read it yet, I had to let you know how excited I am. Ok i'll go back and read now and then come back and tell you how fantastic it is.
Response from Subversa (Author of Rumour Has It)
