I've been a fan of JK Rowling for a long time, but only turned to fanfiction after DH - read it in one day, cried for three, turned to the internet the day after for more. I favor Severus/ Hermione pairings, especially those with lots of chapters and lovely smut scenes - sex by association, pathetic, isn't it?? I've posted a beta profile, if you'd like to check it out.
In real life I am a single mom living in a small town. Rewarding and boring and the same time. Lucky me ;)
Reviews for A Victorious Draw
I have never read a SS/HG fic wherein Ron was the person to bring them together. Thank you for not making him a git, though there are great Ron-is-a-git stories, and for showing the brilliance that his character actually has. I am very interested in reading more.

Thank you for this review!!While I can't take full credit, I was given the prompt last year, I've always liked Ron. He's a good friend and always thought he'd make a good man. After all, look at his family, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.I hope you continue to enjoy the story :)
Heartbreaking scene, but Ron is right. I'm glad he's matured enough to see himself that he and Hermione could not possibly work.

Thank you for your review!I've always thought that Ron would be awesome once he grew up and matured a bit. Lots more of good Ron to come :)
I like this, creative, inventive, definitely original.

Thank you for your kind words! It is my first SS/HG story; until now I'd been very nervous about writing one. I hope you continue to enjoy it!
And an even better second and third and fourth kiss!

Thank you for your lovely reviews!
What a lovely first kiss.
His convincing reasonability left me a little emotional. Great writing!
Ron as Cupid (?!) is so OOC but soo cute. I love it when writers give us a non-stupid, supportive Ron in my SSHG fanfic :)
Oh, I love this! I enjoy bashing Ron, but I'm always up for a likeable Ron who isn't dumb. Thanks for giving us that. Can't wait to see what he's planned and how it will all turn out!
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thanks for the review!I really like Ron, but not when he is made out to be selfish or cruel. I like to think we ALL grow out of our teenaged years (thank God).I hope you continue to enjoy the story :)
I am intrigued. I have always liked Ron and can sincerely see he and Hermione as a contented couple but I have never seen them as a passionate couple. Ron of course is far more brilliant than is often given credit (not even Hermione thought of the basilisk bones to destroy Horcruxe, yet Ron did). I look forward to more!
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thank you for your review!I like Ron, he has strengths that he brings into his relationships with Harry and Hermione. This story is complete, so I hope you enjoy it :)
Wow! I am rivited from the prologue! What a wonderful start. I love a scheming Ron who is not cheating on Hermione/evil/abusive. Perhaps TactitionRon is a better label. Please continue.
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thank you for your review!I happen to really like Ron, and think he's able to grow beyond his teen years. This story is complete, so chapters will be posted as they move through the queue :)
I love that someone is writing Ron with some brains. I think sometimes he is so underwritten as a spare. Cant wait for an update.
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Oh, Ron is brilliant, I think. He never would have been such a central character to all the books and Harry's best friend otherwise. Harry needed him.The story is complete. The chapters will post as soon as they make their way through the queue. From how it looks, it should roughly be two chapters per week. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
I adore this set up! A little worried about the implication of Ron/Pansy... in Deathly Hallows she tried to throw Harry to Voldemort, so....
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Oh that silly Pansy! LOL I'm so happy I'm able to post this story, it's been almost a year since I received this prompt! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing :)
I really like the idea of a cunning Ron working to get these two together. I often think he does not get enough credit. Thanks for posting, JoAnne
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thanks for reviewing! No, Ron never gets enough credit. He wasn't in the book for comic relief, after all. I like to think that Ron inherited the cunning of Molly along with Arthur's cool head. I loved this prompt, and I'm so happy I'm finally able to post this story :)
I'm really excited by this opening chapter! Some of the best stories out there are ones where Ron (and Harry) are actively trying to get our stubborn pair together... And Ron really is a clever, kind-hearted guy--otherwise, how could Harry and Hermione have stayed so true to him all those years? I'm glad you'll be focusing on the strategist side of Ron, and looking forward to seeing how he corrals his pieces into the game.I also can't help but hope that maybe poor George will find some happiness for himself as well in your tale--but if there's no room for that, perhaps a little sequel someday just for him?
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thanks for your kind review! But oh boy, no pressure! LOL I love Ron, I love his humor and his kind heart and his willingness to help. I like to think that he gets his cunning from Molly and his cool head from Arthur. I loved this prompt when I received it almost a year ago; I'm glad I'm finally able to post the story :)

Excellent. I like Smart!Ron. As long as he's not with Hermione. :P
Author's Response: Exactly!! LOL
When I started writing this story, I knew Ron would be portrayed as someone really smart, a strategist who could think three and four and five steps ahead, for that is what chess players do, they never think of the game as one move at a time. I really like how Ron turned out in this story :)
Ooh, I love it! I hope you have lots more already written, just waiting to be begged to post it Thanks for making Ron a good guy - so many folks just bash him when they write SS/HG. And making this out as a chess match - just delicious. Thanks!!!
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thank you for your kind review! The story is complete; the only waiting will be as the chapters make their way through the queue. There were two pieces of art created for this story, as well. Beautiful, gorgeous works that I will post the link to in the appropriate chapter. Along with the art was a soundtrack, as well! I'll post that with the last chapter. As for Ron, I happen to reallly, really like him! (Just not with Hermione). I was given this prompt almost a year ago. I'm thrilled I'm finally able to post it.
Response from Gardengirl (Reviewer)
How many chapters may I look forward to? I haven't been this excited by the first chapter of a story for AGES....
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Haha! Oh boy, no pressure! There is 11 Chapters, total (that includes the Prologue and Epilogue).
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
There *are* 11 Chapters. I can't believe I wrote is. Bad Dari! lol
Absolutely, positively LOVE the premise if this story! I'm hooked. I love a Ron that's clever and not so hotheaded. I'll be eargerly awaiting the next installments.

Thank you for your review! I loved this prompt when I received it almost a year ago. I'm thrilled I'm finally able to post! The only waiting will be as the chapters make their way through the queue; the story is complete, and I've no plans for delaying the posts.Ron is extremely clever, and he is a strategist, as are all chess players. And I always thought that Mr. Weasley wasn't a hothead and Ron should gain that trait from him :)
I like a story where Ron is not a bumbling oaf, or a sociopath or anything.I'm definitely looking forward to this story!
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thank you for your review! I happen to like Ron very much; I like to think that he grows up to be cool-headed like Arthur (despite the plugs and rubber ducks, lol) and cunning, like Molly. I was given this particular prompt almost a year ago, and I'm very pleased I'm finally able to post it.The story is complete, the only waiting will be as the chapters make their way through the queue :)
I really liked this! Ron has never been my favourite character (mostly because he interferes so much in other more interesting pairings for Hermione:-)). This story holds promises of a Ron I can like, not to mention a story that plays with his strong sides, his capability for strategy, jup, I think I will like this very much:-))
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thank you for your review!I very much like Ron, just not with Hermione. I like to think that as he gets older, he's grows more cunning like his mother, but coolheaded like Arthur. He is a very strong character in this story, just not the romantic one.I am hoping everyone likes this story, it is my first SS/HG! I've been so incredibly nervous to write this pair, even though they are my favorite.
Nicely done! :D

this chapter was so sad and wonderful. i always wonder what happened to poor george. i love the idea that they shared souls--it makes perfect sense. and i love that in some small way, ron is filling that huge fred-shaped hole. :'(
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
I'm so glad you liked this chapter. I thought it was a little clumsily explained, but I wanted to get the idea across that they were one person in two bodies - they always seemed that way to me in the books and movies. And Ron was brought up that family is first, and he has a duty to protect and help George. Thank you so very much for reading and sharing your thoughts! I appreciate it very much.
love helpful ron so much. cant wait to see how this plays out
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
I hope you enjoyed the story! :)
WOW! Brilliant! And like Ron says, "You're a little scary!" But in a good way! ;)
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thank you!! :)
An intelligent, thoughtful Ron very well done!! I am a happy reader!
Response from nastygrl (Author of A Victorious Draw)
Thank you very, very much for reading and leaving a comment! I've always liked Ron, to be honest. He's a good guy from a really good family. I just didn't like him with Hermione. I thought he should put those formidable skills as a chess player to good use. :)
A very sweet ending, for everyone
