I am in my late 50's and I didn't even start reading Harry Potter until after the third book came out. My granddaughter got me 'hooked on Potter,' and while surfing the net one day, I found a fanfiction site. That was it! My first story, "Renaissance," was published on Ashwinder a month later and I've been writing ever since. I am primarily a HG/SS shipper, but I also enjoy reading and writing RL/SS. I live in Tampa, Florida with my wonderfully adoring and supportive husband, and three completely spoiled cats. (Kallie, Mysha, and Smudge {who was the inspiration for the cat that Severus gives Hermione in my story "Renaissance."}) I'm always happy to correspond with my readers and I answer ALL reviews. I'm always looking for plot-bunnies, so feel free to throw some ideas out.
Reviews for The Best Laid Schemes
This was wonderful. Thank you. The story gave me warm fuzzies the whole time I read it, and made me giggle quite a bit too.
Thank you this has been a lovely way to spend my evening of reading. The epilogue was very fun!!
Did Rita just report the truth? Is the sky falling? How crazy is that!
I am not impressed with Arthur as Minister. Even now during the clean up process he just doesnt seem to have a grasp on the big picture. Lets oust him shall we?
Heeeeee! Do I get any house points for correctly narrowing down who was the Special Coordinator?? Nice of Arthur to show up at long last. I am relieved he got to hear Sybill spill her dasteredly tale. I cannot beleive she was holding the toxic magic with charms. Thats not going to go over well with the public!
Okay so their wedding was just certified or whatever registered I am feeling more confident. Poor Mundungus, always with a foiled plan. Heh.
It maybe a marriage of convienance but I am thankful they both confessed to being happy about it. That is a step in the right direction!
I wish I could draw. I would love to see art work of them in their wedding finery. Im so glad you let marriage take place. I was very worried, as you know from my review, that the wedding would not take place. Take that Special whatever pants !
You big tease I thought for sure the wedding would be in this chapter! Grrrr thank goodness I am not reading this as a WIP I would be biting my nails!!
"Day of beauty" thats exactly what they call it at the spas. I remember well that expression and how much it all cost!
Oh they are going to look so striking together! I hope someone takes a picture!!
Things I am worried about in no real order:
1. The ministry will not accept their marriage as valid.
2. The Special Coordinator will jump up when the magistrate does the "speak now or forever hold your peace" bit.
3. The Special Coordinator has Arthur under an imperious
4. No plans have been made for these MLC babies as far as social services go.
5. That H or S might solve the fertility problem before falling in love with his/her spouse.
6. That Filius is going to move in with them.
Okay I'll stop now
Well done! It would have been too easy for them to just get approval to marry each other. This way is much more fun AND hopefully Snape's skin will get to see the bright sun light! Woot!
So then if a person is infertile his name (Ron Weasley) will therefore not be on the list righto? I expect that is causing quite a kerfuluffle at the Burrow.
Thank heavens for Filius and pointing out the obvious. I really enjoy how HG doesnt take any of SS's shit. Welll of course she couldnt take it all to heart and work with him all these years.
The Special Coordinator I am guessing is either Sybil or Delores. Both of those woman would like revenge on H &S. I am giggling that they didnt decide to marry each other. I do adore the MLC, thank you in advance for writing this. I just know its going to be loads of fun.
I haen't felt up to the tedium of reading yet another Marriage-Law challenge, but I saw that this was the Variety Challenge Winner and I am glad I did. This is an excellent story. (It would have been amusing for Sybill and Lockhart to have had a liason in the Janus Thickey ward, though!)
"And I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasnt for those dratted kids!" Sorry, I'm still keen on Scooby Doo. Well I have to say I am impressed an salute your quite novel characterisation of Sybill Trewlaney. Very inventive!
The IUD IS clever-- Id never have one unless i was in this situation. hehe
Okay, first off, you have an amazingly sharp wit! I havent laughed like this in ages. And, not to be a blasphemer--which I probably am, I really enjoyed the wordplay with the crucifixion a few chapters back. Apparently you have as much experience observing drunk people as I have being said drunk people!
I loved reading your story but never got around to reviewing before. It's very entertaining and I loved the suspense of trying to figure out who the bad guy at the ministry was. I never would have guessed Trelawny (and I mean that in a good way).
I just read this from start to finish and I really, really enjoyed it. It had just the right amount of humor angst, and fluff. Your writing and imagery is so good that it just pulls you into each and every scene. The characterizations were spot on...at least to this newbie to the HP-SS/HG fandom. Loved Martin to death. He was a rascal! Can't wait to find out who 'you' are so I can hopefully read more great stories from you!

I wish you good luck and happiness in your new environs. It's flattering to know that you looked for my story as soon as you could, and I'm glad that it was complete for you to enjoy. Thanks for the kind words; evrey one is appreciated.
I didn't read this story until you had submitted this last chapter---and I'm so glad, as I'm sure the suspense would have been awful! You've created a new and interesting twist on the Marriage Law (and I LOVE what you called it!), and a lovely description of the process of Severus' and Hermione's falling in love. I've been hooked since the first chapter, and was up most of the night reading this, but it was well worth it! Thank you for a wonderful tale!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. The MLC is a classic. Knowing that you think I created a new and interesting twist means a lot. Thanks for reading and for taking a minute to leave a comment.
how sweet! and somewhere deep down i figured it was trelawney. somewhere..... lolit was a little short, but that doesnt mean it wasnt good. i just happen to like exuberantly long stories. lol
Response from StormySkize (Author of The Best Laid Schemes)
Yowzah! It was short at approximately 49,000 words? I guess you really do like 'exuberantly long stories!I'm happy to know that you enjoyed it in spite of its 'brevity'. (I'll guess you're not a drabble-loving kind of girl.)Not many people suspected Trelawney, or if they did, they didn't say. I wanted the villian to be someone unexpected. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to review.
Very nice ending. It was a cute story.
