Reviews for Memento Mori
Nothing less than he deserved! Why oh why must he act the smart arse in front of her? Ah well, she's gotta fall prey to his charm at some point I guess...At least make him *work* for her attentions..fabulous chapter !
Response from Memento (Author of Memento Mori)
Thank you so much for leaving a review for me!!!! I'm so happy you liked it!Yes, he deserves it, doesn't he? He does 'work' to gain her affection; he simply hasn't understood what it takes yet. 'Behind the scenes' (chapters), he's done all the conventional stuff already (I think some of it is mentioned in chapter twelve), but the 'mental' change takes time, and it is both harder to perceive, and gradual. He's taken some good steps though, for example he has learnt to be capable of seeing her inner worth much more than her outer beauty and love her for that, instead of just fancying her good looks. Ah, well
Excellent duel scene. Excellent outcome too, I must say: both the Body-Bind and her admitting she would have said yes. The only complaint I have is that the chapter was so short!
Response from Memento (Author of Memento Mori)
Thank you!!!!!Yes, the chapter is short - but the next one is quite lengthy, so I hope they balance each other. As for her admitting she'd say yes - well, she is charmed by him; his little stunt surely did the job (among other things). She's always had a soft spot for him (I'm not sure how clear that is in the story; I tried hinting at it, but since her chapters are told through her eyes - and she is fiercely determined to reject him - it might not be very clear) but she can't admit to that, because it frightens her; it gives him a power over her that she's not willing to grant him (or anybody), because she sets great store by her independence in every aspect, and also by her dignity - she's simply scared that his apparent interest in her is not genuine, and she has every good reason to suppose so, seeing his track record.

I would definitely be interested in knowing why she is so fiercely determined to reject him. Perhaps an idea for a future chapter?
Response from Memento (Author of Memento Mori)
The idea really intrigued me, so I've been toying with some things - other little things I always meant to develop a little more closely but never knew where to fit in. Thanks for the suggestion!
I love the way you've given Andy the Tonks-like attitude that everything will work out. I also like that you've put Narcissa in the middle. I find myself cringing over what must come next! The family fall-out, and the rise of the Dark Lord....you're wonderful at creating suspense over things we already know.
Response from Memento (Author of Memento Mori)
Thank you so, so much! That's such a great compliment!I actually like that we already know what's going to come; the dramatic irony makes it fun to write in a way, because the 'light' bits are all doomed (if that's a word) and none of them is quite aware of it.
Uh oh. We have ominous things beginning to happen..... and poor Andy! We know she'll survive, but at what cost?
Response from Memento (Author of Memento Mori)
Thank you so much for taking the time and leaving a review for me!!! Yeah, poor Andy. And poor Ted, too!
i find very few stories that center on lucius and Narcissa in general. But it's impossible to find any that are even worth reading. This is undeniabley a glden find, hope the rest is as good as the previous.

Thank you so much! Yes, I, too, hope that you're going to like the rest of the story. I've spent ages writing it, so I'm really glad when people react positively

I remember reading this story on harrypotterfanfiction. I was so disappointed when you removed it? Did something happen? I hope you update the story because I've read to around the death of voldemort. Anyway I'm happy to see it.
Response from Memento (Author of Memento Mori)
Thank you!!!No, I didn't remove it myself; it was removed because it was deemed too mature. A friend recommended this site to me, so now I simply re-submit it (with some little changes; but I always change a little bit when going through a chapter before actually posting it). Did we speak together on hpff? Which name did you have there?

Naked nightmares are the worst! I was actually blushing! LOL I am fascinated by Lucius' obsession with her. Is it really love? Does he know how to love? Or is it merely that she is different to the other girls? The foundation for their relationship is amazing!
Response from Memento (Author of Memento Mori)
thanks!!!Naked nightmares are the worst!Yes, aren't they? I so enjoyed writing this one. As a matter of interest - when did you (while reading) realise it was a dream? I hoped that the realisation for the reader would take a while to trickle in.As for Lucius' 'obsession' - I think at this point of the story it isn't real love yet; Lucius will have to mature A LOT before it comes to that. But I did try to write it as - she's the only one he's ever taken real interest in, and that is because she is different. But he'll really love her after all

Oh, I've loved this fic! Narcissa is a fascinating character, but so little is written about her. With two such unusual sisters and eventually a husband both feared and respected, you have to wonder who she is and how she got there. I'm so glad you gave us some more to chew on, even though it looks like you've abandoned the story. Have you? Is the rest posted somewhere else? Your young Lucius is so unlike the others I've seen. Most people portray him as aloof and kind of evil even as a kid, but your Lucius gets drawn into the Dark Arts almost innocently. I can't say it enough- is there more? Please? A good Narcissa fic is golden, and this one is great. The Latin gets a bit much sometimes, but then it's kind of fun to decode as well... I speak Spanish, not Latiin.
Response from Memento (Author of Memento Mori)
Hey there! Thank you so much for your review!!! I must admit, I'd pretty much forgotten this account and only the E-mail alert I received reminded me of it, but the story as such does continue, just on a different site (with a much easier upload process). It's on fanfiction and called Memento Mori as well, my username on there is coffeecupcakegirl, and this is the link (I hope it works!): http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1285837/I'm so happy you like the story! Ah, the Latin is pretty much on purpose, because I thought that families such as the Malfoys and Blacks would set great store in their kids' education and their 'ancient' ways, and as many of the spells in the books are Latin-based, I thought that the children would all have had to learn it to 'fit in' the pureblood society. Note that other characters (in MUCH later chapters though) don't use it at all, because they're from different backgrounds and have a different education. Severus on the other hand learns it in order to fit in better, because he believes he could be accepted by these people if he adopted their ways and mannerisms. In the course of time, he even speaks differently.I hope you'll like the rest of the story, too (mind you, it is terribly long and I didn't finish it yet), I'd love to hear from you again!!!
